Deleting and installing the launcher did not work for me. I play via Steam but own the game on both Steam and directly, launching via eso64.exe DID work, though

Launcher is in the same state as everyone's after updating, can launch exe but obviously can't login that way as bought the game in 2017.

Probably best time to give out steam users access to play without launcher.

Hello, same issue here since yesterday.
The launcher updated and after that, I'm getting "checking invalid game files...".
Tried everything from your advice, but nothing works.

I've managed to log in from eso64.exe file.

    My details:
    - PC EU
    - native client
    - account from 2014

Would be grateful for any help - we need a launcher to update the game :(

Similar problem, but different error messages? My loader downloads the patches (there is a 1.6GB and a 6GB), installs them, verifies them, then says the downloaded patch appears to be corrupt, and I should run a repair. I ran repair 3 times, with the same result each time. I am on Windows 10.

Just wanted to note that our team is still looking into this. We have narrowed down the potential issue, but nothing concrete to share yet. I will follow up once we have more solid info. Thanks for your continued patience.

There's been no official update since before today's patch, is the team still working on a fix?

I am unable to update ESO to the latest version because I am having the issue described in this thread.
I cannot bypass the launcher to log in since my installed game is the incorrect version.

    PC NA
    Native launcher

Could we please have an update on this issue @ZOS_Kevin ?
    Many thanks.

EDIT: Posted at the same time as the above, many thanks for the update!
Fingers crossed it will be fixed soon, it is very frustrating to not be able to play new content as well as missing out on the Witches Fest today.

So, any new solutions to try here ?
The game was patched today and the servers are back up again but I'm unable to login since the launcher gets stuck "checking for invalid game files" and can't download the update.
Starting the game directly with eso64.exe isn't viable anymore since you can't login on old build and you can't update it without launcher working properly.
The two possible solutions proposed here (deleting Bethesda.net_Launcher.version file and the whole Launcher folder) do not work at all, and after a short updating bar the launcher goes back to being stuck on "checking for invalid game files".
I'm playing on PC EU non-steam version.

Apparently on my end issue resolved itself, last time opened the launcher and "it just works", updating the game but not sure what would be after the patch application or when I'd re-launch it. The only step I took was to delete update version file previously as suggested but it didn't worked out and a new file was created instead.

If zos did nothing on their end I'd suggest reloading the launcher until it catches new update, might be this is what caused the "verifying" loop to break, idk.

Tried both, deleting the specific launcher file and then deleting launcher folder + reinstall to game folder.

Guess just luck, tried relaunching the launcher like 50 times no luck on my end

Having this same problem of being stuck at the "Checking for invalid game files" loop.

I'm playing on Steam, PC-NA, and have tried both of the patcher-related fixes in the thread, with neither one working.

Hi All, I am once again coming to you for an additional file. The dev team is looking for a copy of the launcher.settings file from your installed Launcher directory. You can dm that to me. It's the highlighted file in the image below.

Because brand new installation of launcher, there is nothing confidential/personal here.

That's all there is in the file. :)

However, interesting discovery. When I ran the "GameConsultant.exe" test, report file shows game folder structure as; "({"method":"listFolder","value":"E:\\Pelit\\The Elder Scrolls Online\\Launcher\\..\\The Elder Scrolls Online\\game\\client"})"

    Should this have double \\?

Additional note, sending said file is not allowed as per your forums, since it is a .settings file and thus not supported for security reasons (I would assume.) :)

I am unable to attach that file to send it to you, when I click the button in a message to you to attach the files it is not listed as a "custom file" and when I use the drop down to show "all files" it shows up but I cannot attach it - only certain types of files are apparently able to be attached and that is not one of them.

Same issue here. PC/NA. And I couldn’t use the workaround because the “eso64.exe” file does not exist on my computer :(
