You think the player response to U35 on PC was bad, just wait until it hits consoles...

Console players, in my estimation, are much more casual than PC players. They like to play with their friends, and most of all they like to have fun. They also, for the most part, don’t have forum accounts and post on the forums.

What? Do tell where do you get your incredibly inaccurate statistics from because you couldn't be further from the truth......

Everyone is going in one direction, I'm going the other direction

I've never understood why players cancel their subs in protest and lose all those great perks. I find the game much less enjoyable without them.

Do you work for zos? I canelled my sub because I don't like the direction the game is going, why would I fund something I don't like? I will keep half an eye on it until u36 and maybe resub if it looks like a good patch. If u36 goes full steam ahead with whatever this insanity is I will not be back.

Legitimate question and legitimate points. Your post is reflective of most of what I'm hearing people say in game.

As for why I cancel subs sometimes....

We have an expression where I'm from "Money Talks, Nonsense walks." Meaning that at the end of the day, when it comes to business dealings, the only thing that matters is cash. While I don't fully agree with that, it does have a good deal of truth to it imo. So, if I really hate something then I let my money do the talking. To get a corporation to actually listen , a lot more money than I could ever bring to the table is needed. So, if others don't feel the same way I will be ignored. But, it's okay, because I felt good about how I choose to spend my money. I don't spend it on stuff I hate. I might continue to play the game, but they ain't getting a dollar out of me. However, if enough other people also stop spending money by quitting or canceling, well that money starts talking loud and clear. And change is gonna come. Most often not exactly what I wanted, but they certainly aren't gonna play deaf anymore.

As of right now, the sub is paid through til next year. But auto-renew has been turned off and it's unlikely I'll re-up my sub.

Most people I know had subbed since the beginning, since 2014. Most of them have said that they will no longer auto renew that sub as they have been for years due to U35 and all the lackluster updates over the last year plus. Nobody I know was impressed with a chapter release that was focused around a card game and two companions.

So the general consensus has been if ZOS isn't going to invest in their game, neither am I.

I really, really wish that as players we could see how many subs are dropping and what that trend line looks like, but it seems pretty unlikely ZOS is going to be willing to share that information. The only way we'll know is if there is an obvious course correction here shortly.

As a lowly casual console player I disagree. And yes, we are here and we are watching. :)

Remember, we don't even have add-ons. I think most of us will manage.

As someone said it's a pretty "meh" affair. Most people won't even notice on overland.

Are you me? Shada's Tear was one of the few things (non DLC/Trial-wise) in Craglorn I hadn't soloed.

I dropped ESO+ (and XBox Live Gold) after the AwA debacle. I was thinking of sucking it up and rejoining and U35 totally took the wind out of my sails on that.

Before I dropped, I had gotten to the point where I could solo normal Dungeons. I was farming dungeon sets and this seemed like a good time to work on my rotation, change up my armor/weapon choices (which I knew was suboptimal), reassess my CP choices, gold up things, and "git gud" in general. But I'm not going to waste my time on any of this just so I can have all my work invalidated the next time (and there *will* be a next time) the devs decide their spreadsheets tell them to.

Because losing money is the only thing a company will understand and likely to affect change to the status quo. It also brings visibility to the problem at higher levels in the company than just the social media/community team because when management sees a decline in revenue they always ask "why is this happening" and normally work to course correct. Canceling subs is the only real recourse people who are unhappy with the direction of the game actually have.

Those people that don't check here won't really realize what has happened anyway and just continue.
The only people the patch will really drive away is those that weren't too happy with the game to begin with or those that focus on a solo play approach but try to do vet stuff anyway. People that enjoy the game together with friends will stay because its the experience of playing together that has the most power in making people stay. However, a few groups still might be hit - sometimes it just takes a single person to quit and 3 for 4-mans or even 11 for raids will follow. It has become very hard to replace good, almost impossible to replace excellent players.

Well there's your problem right there, Riften zone chat on PS-NA is a whole other beast :D

But just because people aren't talking about U35 in zone chat doesn't necessarily mean no one knows anything about it and everyone else in there is a casual - I don't think I've ever seen anything about the game discussed in zc - it's all wtb/wts, American politics (not what we come to ESO for, ppl), requests for assistance with WBs, trolling and whatever the Riften zc is (which I would have said anyway, if you'd said your home zone was literally anywhere else hahaha).

Guild chat is where you're more likely to see discussion of changes and updates.

I don’t spend all 5-10 hours in Riften, I’m only there long enough to do crafting writs and I do overland activities in a lot of other zones while doing the card daily and other things. I don’t see any talk about it any zone chat and not in guild chat either. The only time I hear people talking about the update is during trial runs.

I think it’s pretty much agreed that the number of players in end-game activities like trials is a small minority. Those are the players who know about the update. Therefore, my statement that console players are more casual would only imply that the number of end-game players there might be smaller than their counterparts on PC. I think you all are reading much too much into this.

It really just depends on how much prior investment you have made into the game when you drop plus and how much time you have to prepare for it.

With account wide achievements in place the appeal and value of accessing dlc zones is really diluted.

The value of dlc dungeon content is decreased once you have all of the gear unlocked from the dlc. Or if you have the ability to complete the content. If your dps loss from the update was severe enough to prevent you from completing the content then also dungeon dlcs dont hold much value.

Chapter dlc value just depends on whether or not you have bought previous chapters. Eso plus access to summerset is of no value if you bought summerset when it came out.

Crowns- so long as zos allows people to sell crowns you won't lose access to crowns.

Doubling of bank/housing/transmute stones storage. The loss of this can be annoying but worked around.

Craft bag- the pain point here is basically going to come down to how much you already have in there and how you deal with storage generally, with enough preparation the loss of this can be worked around.

Ultimately though is players want to not give zos money they really need to do more than just cancel subs. They need to also stop buying crown packs and stop buying from crown sellers who sub and buy crown packs.

I would want to see some actual data to back up that claim. Forum warriors and guildies SAYING that they are cancelling subs doesn't make it fact.

You are going to be disappointed because you are not going to get much more than anecdotal evidence regarding it. I'm not exactly going to post private information to a public forum.

In addition to that ZOS, which was a private company and is now owned by a much larger public company, Is not and still will not be required to publish any of that information. The most we ever get is the number of accounts which is not reflective as actual players or active players. Nor do they release subscription data.

The only indicators of any decision players make are having an impact are if changes start to happen. Prices change, change in staff, change in development, change in direction.

Craglorn has been dead for weeks now on Xbox EU. Alot of prog groups have disbanded, I personally know of at least four groups. And even a random normal dungeon queue with a tank takes significantly longer than before, even on the weekend. The console servers have already lost players.

What is going to happen when the update goes live there? They will have no idea what is coming because they don’t have those forum accounts, don’t bother to read patch notes and they certainly don’t follow the PTS. They are going to be completely caught off-guard with these dps nerfs.

I suspect there will be many conversations in zone text chat (which we cannot turn off by the way, if we want to have guild text chat) about “what happened to my dps?” “where is my damage?” and “why am I dying so easily?”

If what I am reading here on the forums is any indication, a lot of the PC playerbase is leaving based on this update. I predict you will lose much, much more of your console playerbase once they realize what has happened. I suspect it will feel worse if you don’t know it’s coming.

    __________________________Backstories:_________________________

Ras Kalik the Vestige, a renown Redguard warrior; He has been blessed to save Tamriel from Molag Bal’s destructive Planemeld while reuniting the Five Companions. His further accomplishments after defeating Molag Bal, has been to stop the destruction of Morrowind, the Clockwork City, return order to the isle of Summerset and create a new king in Wrothgar and a queen in Elsywer. These events have made him a living legend and continue to lead him into new adventures throughout Tamriel, as well as into the hearts of many ladies including the Elf Queen, Aryenn. Over many years of adventurous travels, Ras Kalik had become a loner, until he re-visited his homeland of Alik'r.

Alik'r and it's cities were overrun by the undead Ra-Netu and therefore he made an allegiance with Alik'r's own Ash'abah tribe. These Ash'abah with his help, cleansed the city of Sentinel in Alik'r desert and it's surrounding areas of the undead brought to life by the Withered Hand. After rescuing Sentinel from the undead zombies, King Fahara’jad’s personal bodyguard the Goliath of Hammerfell, who was given this name by Imperials in the region; was asked to assist the tribe after learning of the defeat of the Withered Hand to the Ash'abah. Kalik promised Goliath he would task him with fighting living enemies on the battlefield if he so desired. Goliath being a Yokudan warrior wields a massive sword in respect to the Ansei, a gift given by the Imperial, Cinan Tharn. Not many soldiers are able to wield double two handed weapons, but Goliath loves to get up and personal in a fight, so he also carries a giant maul, both weapons laced with magical flames.

Jux Blackheart is a master thief that masquerades as a Bard at the Sisters of the Sands inn, with his younger sidekick Lucky Hunch for pilfering and gambling during this time. Jux was known to infiltrate any towns bank vault he came across and even delved into Ayelid ruins without detection. Kalik can vividly recall the night he met the famed thief. Jux found himself rummaging thru a slightly inebriated Kalik’s pocket for too long, on a full-mooned night and because of his greed and the glimmer of his golden armor in the moonlight. He lost his left pinky fingertip as a lesson! But in return, he gained a new friend, as it was his first time since a child being caught red-handed...

Upon arrival back in the Alik'r after many moons of adventuring, Ras Kalik ventures to Bergama. Visiting The Winking Jackal, he runs into Jux Blackheart, who introduces him to the coin game Crowns vs Forebearers (Heads vs Tails) and Golden Dwemer (RBG).... Jux constantly takes gold from the unfortunate thru theft or gambling, his biggest gambling victim is actually his partner in crime known as Lucky Hunch the Gambler. Lucky doesn't mind losing any gold coins to Jux... as Jux saved him from Altmer slavers in Summerset, by stealing a key and sending him on a boat to the mainland years prior. Lucky spent years in slavery with Khajiits in Summerset and picked up the art of subterfuge, using illusion magic disguises and stealing there.

Kaotik Von’Daemon an outcast, and a half-caste between a Breton mother and a Redguard father. Kaotik become a pariah due to his conjuration of Daedra pets. He was taught healing magic during his childhood years by his Breton mother. His father due to Redguard customs exiled him from the desert, sending him by wagon caravan to be a soldier in the war in Cyrodiil. He happened to meet Kalik while traveling from Alik'r, during this long caravan ride the caravan he was in was ambushed in Bangkorai by a group of bandits. Kalik by chance was also traveling thru this area on his Auridon Warhorse (which was bestowed to him by his friend, Darien Gautier). During this ambush, Kalik was able to rescue five hostages from the bandits. Kaotik was the first rescued, and Ras Kalik also recruited him to be in the Ash'abah tribe. These core Ash'abah tribesmen may never be seen together in travel as they partake in their own adventures but they always know what each other is doing; as they frequent a hideout in northern Bankorai. Their hideout an old Orc castle ruin, is kept watch by Nuzhimeh and she passes messages written between them, and frequently they also enjoy her company and her bed.

The other men rescued were a Dunmer banker, an Imperial mercenary and two other soldiers, an Imperial and a Breton Knight, stating proudly he was an Akavir descendent. One of the Imperials, Cinan, claimed to be related to Abnur Tharn the Battlemage of the Imperial Elder Council (One of Ras Kalik's mentors in the Five Companions). Cinan Tharn was really Abnur's drunkard treasure hunting illegitimate son. He was caught smuggling artifacts out of the Ayleid ruins in Cyrodiil and the elder of the two Imperials was Tyrus Septim a retired Imperial navy battle-mage (now a Lycan mercenary living in the city of Rimmen) and guard to the Tharn family. As much as Abnur Tharn hated his half-sister Euraxia, he dislikes his bas†ard son Cinan more. Tyrus now a ruffian and privateer had been paid by Abnur Tharn to watch over Cinan as much as possible. Cinan Tharn a drunkard, loves to drink at least a quarter barrel of Nord mead before he raids various delves and dungeons for relics to sell on the black market. Cinan also plans to one day, run an illegal gambling ring... which he thinks will net him more gold for his wares.

The Dunmer captive shackled to the Imperials looked familiar to Kalik from his time in Morrowind.... and he recognized him as Tythis Andromo a House Telvanni slave-owner and banker from Vvardenfell. During a rough interrogation to Tythis, Ras Kalik learnt why the bandits accosted him. The racist Dunmer was providing slaves as soldiers for the Three Banner War. The bandits were trying to negotiate a lucrative ransom for Andromo and the Imperials.... Kalik did not need any of this gold and he could never set Tythis free as he did with the two Imperial soldiers. His past involvement with slavery and war crimes, made Kalik's blood boil. He chose not to execute Tythis, as he figured the worse punishment for this former rich and opulent slave owner, is to now be an imprisoned servant for Ras Kalik and the tribe.

Herzog Zwei the Genesis a reknown Imperial/Akavirri battle-mage. His roots going back to Akavir through his mother’s bloodline. (His mother is descended from the Akaviri, through Versidue-Shae, and his Imperial father met her in Hakoshae, while traveling) Herzog earned the nickname "the Genesis" from his father as a child, as he was his mother's first born child, and last, as she tragically died in child-birth.

Herzog was seeking to purchase an artifact from Cinan Tharn, before their capture and was meeting Tyrus while in Rimmen, who introduced him to Cinan. This artifact being the Ayelid artifact; the sword Sinweaver. After their rescue and the exchange of gold to Cinan for the sword he decided to slip away before Ras Kalik could question who he was, and why the Akavir descendant really wanted that sword. Herzog was headed to Nagastani — An Ayleid ruin in eastern Cyrodiil. He had read in scrolls that the Sword would give him magical powers to meet his mothers spirit, if he performed an Ayleid ritual at an old shrine hidden there. Equipped with the artifact sword, he was off to start his own adventure but Ras Kalik, did indeed notice the sword however and instead sent a letter to Jux Blackheart (whom also was interested in Ayleid treasures), to attempt to find Herzog and acquire the sword. (*Azani Blackheart in Elder Scroll's Oblivion is Jux's descendant some 747 years later)

And so the Redguard, Imperial and Akaviri men parted ways ... While Ras Kalik went off to Elsweyr to encounter the latest threat to Tamriel, with Abnur Tharn and Sai Sahan - - DRAGONS!! Little did Ras Kalik know a few people were awaiting him in Senchal besides Sai. A necromancer survived his attack on the Withered Hand, while in Alik'r. The necromancer known as Auriek Siet'ka is also following him to the land of the Khajiits and Cacique the Sage of Ius a Shaman mystic who has become attuned spiritually with Tu'whacca (a Redguard God) and Ius (the Animal God), after being burned severely by the escaped dragons in Elsywer, is awaiting his arrival also. Aurik is a soldier of the Daggerfall Covenant that was introduced to necromancy while in the military, even though this magicka art is not spoken of openly by most of the Military leaders. He came to Alik'r and worked with the Withered Hand before Ras Kalik intervened on their plans. After the defeat of the Withered Hand, he aligned with the Worm Cult, and is constantly adapting and perfecting his necromantic arts.

After his journey to Rimmen, Kalik heads south to Senchal, in the southern regions of Elyswer. This new adventure will also put him on a path to meet a strange Redguard man. The stranger which was infected with an untreated Peyrite disease and also was the exiled from the Order of the New Moon cult, due to his sickness. He originally joined the cult to worship Laatvulon, the green dragon, mistakenly thinking it was the Daedric prince Peyrite. This confused and suffering cultist is known as Tsar al-Bomba and he is on a path to spread the disease. He was originally infected in Orccrest while recruiting members there. Can Ras Kalik and the shaman Cacique cure this poor soul, only time will tell. Little does Tsar al-Bomba know, that his infection is tied to Vampirism, and eventually the desire for blood will take over his mind. Senchal also offers Kalik his latest love interest... Aeliah. Whom he fondly led thru battles with the Dragonguard.

After the trek thru the heat, tropical and desert climate of Northern and Southern Elyswer, Ras Kalik heads north to the cold mountain range of Skyrim. His companion friend Lyris beckons for him with a letter sent by crow...

Movárth Piquine - a former vampire hunter (now infected), within the Fighter's Guild (and a secretive necromancer) was in Skyrim working with the Morthaal Guard. On a patrol mission he was caught in Frewien's ice curse outside of Morthaal with the frozen undead. Movárth's vampiric infection kept him from becoming an undead minion to the curse. He was able to use necromantic ice-magic to encase himself safely until he was freed with Freiwen, when the Vestige Ras Kalik broke the curse.

Uri Ice-Heart - brother of Urfon Ice-Heart. The twin sons of Atli and Oljourn Ice-Heart. The Ice-Heart family are originally from Markarth but now reside on the Jerall Mountain range near Cyrodiil, with their younger sister Araki. The twins had joined the Winterborn Reachmen while living in Markarth. Urfon pushed west to Orsinium with the Winterborn Clan, leaving his family behind. Uri stayed behind with his parents and sister to live in the family cabin for safety, avoiding the Vampire plague infiltrating the Reach. After news reaches him and he hears of Urfon's death... Uri leaves and heads home and is seeking vengeance. Meanwhile, his sister has also moved on to Windhelm to join the Fighter's guild. He will visit his sister, once before going to seek vengeance and she will craft him armor mixed with ice, called Stalhrim armor. Uri fearing death, after his brother's passing, falls victim to the convincing talk of Movárth at a Nordic tavern, and will also becomes a vampire.

I've never understood why players cancel their subs in protest and lose all those great perks. I find the game much less enjoyable without them.

the game is much less enjoyable for me with U35, why should I pay for a subsription if im not logging on?

I used to log on daily and do vet and hm content. I dont need a subsription to do those, I need a functioning game. I dont care about gathering flowers in overland and needing a craft bag, this is not why i play the game.

The sub is a convinience, a cherry on top. But the pile of ice cream underneath that cherry is what i actually want. But why pay for the cherry if the ice cream underneath has melted to a warm puddle..

What? Do tell where do you get your incredibly inaccurate statistics from because you couldn't be further from the truth......

I think what he's saying is they won't know what they're doing wrong because they don't have the add-ons to give them data.

Console players, however, are very competitive. PC may be the master race but I'm pretty sure these guys communicate over VOIP almost exclusively and what they lack in optimizing their game they make up for in god-tier trashtalking.

metas also change much more slowly on console, they use the same terms we do but to refer to different things. Spinners is and Spriggans still viable/top tier in cp gameplay over there... they have different playstyles and might be willing to work past the changes.

I'm on PS and have run top raid groups for years. We all follow the forums, read patch notes and organise our groups accordingly.
Many have ripped already and the patch hasn't even dropped for us yet.

As long as zos keep making money and all those role players keep spending money on crowns. That's what matters.

Even sub spots had a wait-list. I love eso and elder scrolls in general and I'm sad to see how many guilds have fallen apart and how many of my friends have left. I only started back in December and I made amazing progress with the help of really awesome vet and end game players who took a newbie under their wing. Taught me everything and I was not only new to the game but mmos in general.

Theres already been a huge drop on xbox NA with end game raiders due to people quitting over the direction of the game with u35 as well as burnout from changing the game every 3 months.

Only reason ive stuck around is to help a friend get raid titles/achievements before the patch drops as they missed out when our team prog'd the content originally. I know of a lot of people who are the same and teams rushing to get completes/titles before bailing at the end of the patch.

Cant see zos coming back from this tbh.

As a lowly casual console player I disagree. And yes, we are here and we are watching. :)

Remember, we don't even have add-ons. I think most of us will manage.

As someone said it's a pretty "meh" affair. Most people won't even notice on overland.

Ok, but why do you need to "manage"? Why can't we get a good update for everyone instead of a really bad one where people need to manage.

I just want to add one more comment, that when this drops on console I guarantee a lot of the same type threads that started here after the last update will be repeated. It always happens every update because there are indeed console players who don’t follow the forums, as I stated before. Maybe you guys are up to date, but a lot of them aren’t.

Anyone for PVP who enjoyed Theory Crafting, testing sets.. coming up with interesting group comps... trying to play their toons in unique and unorthodox styles...

    should just quit.

It's getting to the point where I can interchange 30 sets and not know the difference, almost exchange toons and not know the difference

you should also distinguish how U35 influences the content you play. I've spent thousands of hours playing pvp, most of it in cyrodiil. I'm affected by the constant balance changes, performance issues, questionable sets and decisions that ZOS makes in a very different way than players who enjoy housing and overland questing. in my environment, many have stopped playing, cyrodiil is simply dead in terms of population (noncp).

serious raiders should not be much different here, so you are either in the environment in which players quit en masse, or not.

Console players, in my estimation, are much more casual than PC players. They like to play with their friends, and most of all they like to have fun. They also, for the most part, don’t have forum accounts and post on the forums.

Can you really afford to have that happen?

actually. most console players are more adapting and higher skilled. I was told "you wouldnt survive ESO PC" [snip] i switched and most of you dont even damage me. [snip]

Console player and forum lurker here. I've refrained from commenting until it drops, but I've been diligent about keeping up with players' experiences with the changes. I'll likely play my sorc and nb, see if I can adjust with gear and different skills. And while I haven't unsubbed from anything yet, this is the first time with eso that I've ever entertained the idea of voting with my wallet. to be continued.

Your comment leads me to think that you think I play on PC, which I don’t. My signature is PS5 on NA server.

What i dont understand is how everyone at ZOS knows that this update is the most unpopular update yet and virtually hated across the board, and they still went steam ahead with tweaks to DoTs. They crapped all over almost all the classes in game, most notably Templar. They knew then everyone hated it, and they know it now, but they went full steam ahead with the changes. And then they had the audacity to insult the community and call it a “knee-jerk” reaction. Unbelievable.

They aren't that oblivious, its pretty much the same game its not like they are neanderthals without internet access. Everyone has a phone to use forums.

I believe console has a smaller population in general so an exodus of players at high end content would hit them the most. I can't wait for the influx of jabs/rapid strikes posts again not to mention dots hit like a wet noodle now. Even without addons it will all be very noticeable but hey you can just slap on oakensoul and heavy attack all day in pve haha.

Maybe this is ZoS plan to get more console players on the forums raging, its pretty genius if you ask me.
