I'm with EE and I'm getting the same problem. Did anyone get a solution yet? It can work perfectly for hours, then I get this error that kicks me back to the log in every 2 minutes. Doesn't matter what time of the day it is!
  • Luthien_Elfmaid
my account is also having the same problem, game worked perfect in beta testing. Today I was able to complete the tutorial area with perfect performance and no lag, moved to high elf start island and the lag started. I am located in Adelaide, Australia and use Adam internet.
    Tinúviel! Tinúviel!
    He called her by her elvish name;
    And there she halted listening.
One moment stood she, and a spell
His voice laid on her: Beren came,
    And doom fell on Tinúviel
  • QuelSerrar
Just to let you guys know, for some reason I have now been able to play all day so far with no lag at all. Had the problem during the beta, and also yesterday. But for now it seems to be working, really weird...

This happened to me and my friend too alot of times, I doubt the problem is with the ISP's since im located in the Philippines and we havent played properly since early access. Played through beta and it was better than this, We always get DCd and then we get this error. sometimes while logging in we get the error 200 aswell.

I still cant believe ZOS has not even recognized there is a problem to begin with.

    This is insulting!

Well you know what helps me kill time? Troll forums by pissing of zenimaxs fan boys who pretends to be white knights defending their beloved princess :)) they cant accept the fact that zenimax messed this up.

Seriously though. It is kinda insulting that just because there are only few of us with this issue, they choose to ignore us. Which sad because from the number of topics like this one im guessing where a good chunk of the population who are experiencing this.

Been playing for the last half hour flawlessly at the daggerfall starting area. Couldn't play for more than 2 minutes after ColdHarbour.
The difference is... I decided to connect through a strongvpn connection and all is good for now.
I suspect there is something about this game that some ISP's block, throttle or otherwise obstruct.
    Playing from Panama-CableOnda.

I was able to play till 1:30 am, no disconnects whatsoever. Played again this morning ~ 45 minutes without any problems. The vpn connection is established by a router in my local network which then goes through my main router, which is the one exposed to internet. If I connect directly to my main router(no vpn) the Dreaded Unknown Error shows it's ugly face.

Same issue here with the lag leading to "Unknown Error Has Occurred." I'm on Comcast, and we have to PC's playing the game side-by-side (my son and I). He doesn't seem to have the issue at all.

So it's an issue between your computer and the server then?

    9 * Network unreachable

    Trace aborted

The trace is unreachable at a certain point even when with no connections issues at all. The servers seems to be behind some filtering device which does not allow you to ping or to trace route for security reasons. So if you want to check the latency you have to the game servers, you can try the resource monitor if you use Windows 7. From there you can check the connections the eso.exe has with what kind of latency.

@cado18rwb17_ESO if that was directed at me you really need to read the thread properly.
I have said that theres a routing issue, its affecting some ISPs in some areas. Now either theres an issue with the way the traffic is being treated down stream I don't know I don't have enough information to say for certain, but I do know that using a VPN resolved the issue for me, but sadly not for others.

People with this issue need to provide their ISP their location and a tracert, this would help immensely with trouble shooting. If this was a server or client issue I would expect many more people to have this problem.

@cado18rwb17_ESO No worries, well if you go to http://www.wtfast.com/
you can download the VPN client, there's a free 30 day trial, so you can try this whilst this is being looked at.

Follow the instructions below, and let me know if it works for you, as some people didn't have any luck. Fingers crossed for you.

"as trial is selected you don't need to enter anything just hit login.

Once its loaded, where it says Game, hit the Custom Games radio button, then add. For name just call it something like ESO, then use browse to select the games exe, which should be in:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Zenimax Online\The Elder Scrolls Online\game\client
its the application exe called eso

Then select the run with launcher, and do the same again for finding the launchers exe, should be here:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Zenimax Online\Launcher its called Bethseda.net_launcher

Then click OK. Next use the Server drop down to find one near you, select that, and Play should un-ghost. Click play and it should laucnch the game. Then simply log in."

Hey there, everyone. Thank you for your patience while we've been looking into the issue. We've investigated the "Unknown Error" and it appears to be the result of packet loss between your Internet Service Provider and our game servers. We ask that you please contact your ISP to help resolve this issue. Thank you again for your patience and understanding.

JasonL's response proves what we thought earlier - we are going to be bounced between ESO and Internet Providers, with no one taking responsibility.

Well, excuse me, but that is ABSOLUTELY NOT GOOD ENOUGH. ESO, you have marketed this game and I have paid £70 for the privilege of playing. I do not expect to have to contact my ISP. I expect YOU to sort the problem. Trying to palm off the responsibility onto someone else is totally not on.

I managed to play today for a few hours. However, I logged in again this evening and had the same problems.

Got in with WTFast but soon as tried to zone in, stuck on loading screen for while and "unknown error".
After that i have to wait hour or so before i can re log back in to game.

This is a useless response. We as users of different ISPs most of the time do not have a helpfull person on the other side of the line.

Furthermore this ''packet loss'' only happens with your game! I can play every single other game I have tried with no problem. How come it is now my fault that there is some data dropping?

You have the right idea... this type of mindless and thoroughly unhelpful answers can just be answered with a ''LOL'' because there is no icon for ''utter outrage''.

Because the way they have been dodging their responsibility in this mess is an outrage.

It maybe because of the packet loss but my Isp told me they cant do anything about it since your server is the one rejecting the connection.

Are you guys trained parrots? From.my numerous submitted tickets I always get the same response. Like ive said, if only 1 isp is being affected then it's understandable. But ISPs from all over the world are experiencing this which clearly means your server is our fault. Why would we contact our ISP to resolve your SERVER'S PROBLEM?

Just give me my money back.
