Just managed to get in for about a minute or so before being dumped back to the log on with the unknown error message, during that minute wasn't able to interact with anything...
  • QuelSerrar
Exactly the same happened to me just now, finally got in. But the minute I was on, I could not interact with anything. Too bad VM support wasn't more helpful...

    I'm consistently getting this.

I'm going to give it an hour or two and see if its any better...which I doubt but I've wasted enough time today trying to play as it is.

If things get any better will update.

I know this may have been suggested but have you tried using an ethernet connection if on wireless and have you tried temp disabling your firewall and AV?

@Loxy37 Appreciate the suggestions but already tried everything before I logged a tkt, and this is the only game affected; EvE, SWTOR, MWO, Rift, Rust and WoT are all fine

Strange. I wonder if they are throttling your connection in the day, I know some ISPs do. I cant really see how that would cause such high pings and DC but.... Im in england but with BT and have no issues so it must be VM.

Tried all that, with no luck I'm afraid :(
Really annoying, I just want to play!

Yeah never been a fan of Virgin, now I can say told you so to the Misses, not that she'll care of course.

Have you tried the NA server if playing on the EU? A word of warning though. Backup your zenimax folder just incase it deletes the install has some people have pointed out in the past.
  • QuelSerrar
Remember trying both UK and US servers when I had the same problem during the last beta, but that didn't change anything back then. Hope VM finds a way to sort it out soon.
  • QuelSerrar
I've just connected to a local BT wifi hotspot that I didn't know existed (thanks to my long-suffering wife for letting me know!) and the game works perfectly. Conclusion: it's a problem with Virgin Media. Can any mods please let us know of any outcome.

Add me to the VM lag list. Had the same issues in beta, although in the last one the lag didn't cause dc's most of the time. Never noticed the posts about VM problems before.
Fingers crossed ZOS has better luck than you did NoirJ.

I'm planning to change ISP provider actually. I 'm starting to lose faith that Zenimax and VM will talk over this. Same story with blizzard and VM from 2010..... :(

Please let Virgin know here if you're having the problem, maybe if enough people respond they'll do something:

    @Midnight_Rose yeah same here.

An official meaningful response would be nice from Zenimax, as obviously Virgin aren't interested in assisting their customers.

has more posts, but again nothing from Virgin themselves, and from hat we have seen this isn't the only ISP that's affected.

I expect a response from a ZOS admin or mod by the morning, because what we have had so far is shocking. ZOS needs to take this up with the relevant ISPs.

Failing this I will be calling the ZOS offices at Hunt Valley tomorrow, seeing as no one bothered to follow up the tkt I raised this afternoon.

    I have the same issue.

I am from Panama, Central America. My ISP is Cable Onda.
This issue is not just with one ISP!

I have a >15mb/s connection with less than 100ms Ping; AND I can play all of the other MMOs I have tried with no problems.

    WTF Zenimax.

Upon asking costumer support about this issue during the beta, I was asked to do a trace to see if I was dropping data.

If you do this trace yourself you will see that the data runs fine both out of your PC and out of the ISP server.

THEN about on the 15th step it drops...
This drop does not occur on a server that is controlled by YOUR ISP. I do not know if the drop is on a main server or just before it gets to the ESO server but it goes all the way through your ISP.

This information was confirmed by an IT specialist I asked to check out this problem. It is not your ISPs fault!

@‌DanBlackfyre Not entirely true, I happen to work in IT, yeah who doesn't these days, as an SDM. The problem is not local, is resides either on the network or the server.
One person who posted in this thread is with Virgin and then swapped to a BT open Wi-Fi Connection, and hey presto he's able to play. Which makes me think that some ISPs are handling the traffic differently , for what ever reason I don't know, although it has been suggested that some are classifying it as P2P not Server Client.

Sadly the complete lack of a coherent response is hampering the fault finding

I am just a lowly mortal with no IT experience but I do know for a fact that my ISP doesn't have any blocks or anything they can switch to fix this
    .
It could be that as you say the pathway it takes is generating a block higher up the foodchain but still if this is the case. I basically have no way of fixing this problem without Zenimax's help.

Well at the very least with how big this thread is getting we are sure to get the attention of the devs.

I repeat: This issue is not just with one ISP!

I repeat: This issue is not just with one ISP!

@DanBlackfyre I deal with ISPs like Colt, Verizon, BT and Level 3, there is defiantly an issue with the traffic, its only affecting certain ISPs and when people switch it fixes the issue, we need Zenimax to escalate this with their ISP and see where the issue is down stream. Then their IPS need to talk to whomever they bridge onto and so on. Assuming their NOC is even aware of this that is.

I am only going on the evidence provided and from what I can see, so yes its not just one ISP but an issue with several and maybe only in relation to certain nodes.

    EDIT:
Not a Dev issue this is an Ops problem.

Just to let everyone know, I don't have much faith in this getting sorted anytime soon so I set up a VPN using WTFast and guess what am in and just managed to buy my mount can see everyone and interact.

Its a free trial so give it a go and you should be able to play for now while this gets sorted, if it improves other games as well I may go premium.
    Anyway heres the URL:

Kudos to Shelke-Rui on the Virgin media forums for posting this link.

Thanks bro... I know I dont really have all the info on this subject but I just want this to be solved ASAP.

It's a disgrace that this game was sold at a higher price for early access when so many people are unable to play. I've been trying to play all day but only managed 2 or 3 minute stints. I had these issues in beta but assumed they would be fixed by the time the game was out. Surely its the responsibility of Zenimax to fix this regardless of ISP issues, if indeed there actually are any. I don't believe that the ISPs are to blame at all.

    FURTHER EDIT:
I have now tried with an ISP (Tor) blocker and a VPN (WTFast), neither worked

Add me to the VM customer list, have had issues since the BETA tests.

Just curious, anyone on VM that does NOT have these problems?
