It does seem a bit thin. Especially when not one bit interested in the card game.

I'd prefer a full QoL release that just focused entirely on QoL stuff than just a rinse repeat release like this one was.

The chapter launch was and still is a bit of a mess. It feels rushed - lots of bugs, functions, and features not working; such as, main menu music, the druid outfits, WB issues, leads, etc. Many of which were already known on the PTS, yet still made it unresolved into launch.

On top of that, so much of it is very underwhelming and the cheap reuse of assets is very prevalent - I mean, the special trial mount is just an atronach mount reskin, and the mementos from the public dungeons are very meh. Ultimately these are little things - but there are a lot of them, and they add up.

I still have yet to finish the main story - though I've done public dungeons and side stories plenty, but so far there's nothing new there, more of the same really - not that they're bad, but nothing groundbreaking, maybe the main story will deliver.

TLDR - I think they did some things right in High Isle, and I think this chapter had a lot of potential, but in the end, the result was underwhelming due to the extra time and effort not being put in to really flush things out and ensure that the product was solid and felt new upon launch.

I doubt it's possible, but at this time, I'll be pursuing refund. If successful, I may pick it up again, but only when it's on sale.

[Edited for bashing] - apparently the use of the word "lazy" do describe implementation and reuse of assets / reskins is now considered bashing.

I'm not a big fan of card games - not good at them, don't have the patience for them and all around don't like them.
Considering that High Isle's main feature this year IS the card game, I'm not interested in purchasing it full price. I'll wait for a sale to do the story.

Tales of Tribute is really fun imo and on top of that, the world/environment/art/music aspects of High Isle are pretty incredible. The delves and public dungeons are amazingly designed. ESO has a lot of problems but this aspect is definitely not one of them. I won't lie, I was expecting to be unimpressed with this chapter but I am really enjoying it.

I'm loving ToT and I'm enjoying the visual aspects of High Isle. It's beautiful new region to play and Gonfalon already became my new base. But not so much Amenos... There's a weird green fog that ruins all the light and colour of the zone. Maybe there's a reason for it, I hope so, I didn't complete the story yet, but if it's only an empty aesthetic decision it's really bad.

If it's anything like Blackwood, then I am going to skip it.

A largely empty map with a storyline that fails to engage due to the ongoing problem of the Overworld's difficulty makes me not inclined to buy a new expansion.

Yes, in the sense that it's exactly as advertised. But I wish there was an "I have High Isle and it barely meets my expectations" option.

My issue is mainly with the price. ZOS delivered what it said it would, but there's definitely less content than there has been in other chapters, but they charged the same price for it. I got it at a small discount, but it was still overpriced.

If you don't like the card game or will only play it occasionally, High Isle isn't tremendously bigger in terms of gameplay than the 4Q DLC. I'll get maybe a few more days of play out of it before I've completed the zone quest, all the quest hubs, and completed the map, but that's all.

If the chapter had cost $30 in my currency, I'd be happy. It's WAY overpriced at the $50-something I paid for it. I won't be buying the next chapter anywhere near that price unless there's something major introduced, like a new class, a skill line, a new joinable guild with a decent quest line (on top of the usual zone quests and quest hubs), or a new mechanic (like antiquities) that's part of regular gameplay (not something like a card game).

It exceeded my expectations, but granted I put the bar reeeeeaaaaaaallllllly low. I just need to find the time to really play it, but in the time I have I've found the card game to be better than I imagined.

Also found fun and inventive ways to win, chatted with my opponents during the match, and had a pretty good time with it. Some of the mechanics seem unfair at first until you realize you just were using them at the wrong times.

Like don't try to use the Duke of Crows early on because unlike the other Patrons once he's on your side you're not able to use him again. I learned that one the hard way, and used that to my advantage in a match with someone who did exactly that. Got him in the end game when I turned my 10 excess gold into pure power.

i have a mixed opinion so i didn't vote. it looks far too much like summerset...even the craggy mountains look the same. you'd think they'd at least shade them differently, ma. i loved summerset, but i'd prefer a variety of scenery. amenos is great, however. very atmospheric. what else...the card game is fun. new sets...sure, i mean there are always a lot of throwaways with new sets. but i feel like it's monotonous now, the new releases. they really aren't issuing any game changing changes. they do the rinse repeat thing. it gets boring and i imagine that's why people move on

    Enjoying it so far!
Haven't done the main quest yet.
mostly overland hunting leads for antiquities, did a couple delves and really like the layout.
Vents and WBs are fun and challenging without feeling impossible.
    Zone is gorgeous!

My only concern is how deserted it seems for a new zone launch?
I do see other players fairly often, but not in the amounts I'd expected. Maybe its due to most of the players that would be there, are farming leads in other zones.
But I'd thought once this weekend hit there be a huge pop boost, I'm not seeing it yet.
So that's causing me mild concern.

It's quite sparse and looks unfinished. There are quite a few graphical mistakes which isn't great and the areas are small.

Also the Oakensoul mythic Murkmire fiasco will be indelibly linked to High Isle when remembered as one of the worst mechanics in the history of gaming.

All in all High Isle is overpriced and not value for money at all, especially in comparison with Summerset and Vardenfell.

Yet to actually play it cause I play on console, but based on what I've seen on the forums it needed a little more time in development. The missing textures in various areas and armors (I.e. the druids), general bugs, the mythic lead in Murkmire, and the very lackluster sets in the overland is very uninspiring. Public dungeon rewards are uninteresting to me, and as I said the sets are bad so I won't be spending time farming them. Hope the zone will be fun to explore and story is better than what I've read, cause right now I ain't seeing the quality apart from the work put into the world design.

I do not own High Isle
So, I selected the option "do not own" even though I own it, simply because i'm a console player and it has not released yet on console. My experience with the expansion/chapter comes from a 3rd person perspective - watching copious youtube videos, twitch and youtube live streams, reading the forums, etc.

As a long time player, I will always support ZOS because this is my "home" game no matter what. The way I support ZOS is not through their predatory gambling loot boxes (crown crates), but rather through buying expansions, ESO plus, and the odd costume/mount that isn't too expensive. From everything i've read, seen, and watched, it seems more than anything that this game gives you the exploratory size of a chapter but the content size of a Q4 DLC - a few QOL improvements, some questing, etc, but nothing revolutionary or really new. I've never been a video game card game player and while I can appreciate some people are and while I can appreciate any new horizontal progression additions to the game, I still carry my opinion of this being a very lackluster chapter. This would've been a great Q4 DLC in my opinion.

I would agree with previous replies that if I could get a refund and simply get this when it's on sale, I would do that

That has surprised me too. I think someone mentioned in a thread that ZOS caps the population in an instance at launch so players aren't on top of each other, but that can't be it. I can remember when earlier chapters came out, there were always players at world bosses and group stuff like the volcanic vents, and huge crowds around quest givers and quest advancement points. Not so with High Isle.

From day one, people have been asking for help in zone chat with world bosses, offering to share the quest, etc. That didn't happen with Blackwood, even. Also, delves aren't that full, and the same goes for quest hub locations and overland in general. When I've gone to other chapters and zones to dig up an antiquity or whatever, they're more crowded. Definitely makes me wonder whether the sales for this chapter were way below expectations.

(either that, or 90% of those who own High Isle are in Murkmire looking for that lead...)

I might be the minority but it actually exceeded my expectations. Seems to me that this style of story almost invigorated ZOS to do better. I expected it to be bland to explore like Blackwood but it’s really not, I’m unsure on what people are experiencing to say that it’s sparse. There’s a living statue, a cat you can cuddle, you can watch the new mount jump around in the ocean, explore a bunch of different biomes, find plenty more nice spots not marked on the map, and more. The lore I have seen so far also fleshes out Bretons and Maormer perfectly. Storyline was much less predictable than Blackwood as well.

The chapter I thought we were getting from the first reveal video-- the one that introduced boats and sea combat-- that chapter I would have pre-purchased on one or two accounts. The one we actually got-- the 4th qtr DLC with a card game-- that one I'll buy on sale.

Despite my disappointment with the chapter, I look forward to buying-in when gear like Oakensoul has been nerfed to its expected long-term state, and when the price point for the expansion matches the product they delivered.
