Hi Iselin, I'm out in the Valley and having the same issues as you, would it be helpful to post my pathping and tracert? I have no idea how to interpret the results.

I went ahead and just filed a ticket. I suggest you and others having this particular connectivity problem from Western Canada or anywhere else in the Pacific NW do as well.

It's been about 4 or 5 days for me now and even though using a VPN to route a different way kind of works around the problem, there IS a problem. Whether the problem is with Zenimax or some in-between ISP I guess we'll find out when ZOS support starts looking into it.

The VPN connection is also always slower. I typically get latency of 70-90 when all is well and the best any VPN I've tried for the past few days has been able to do is ~ 160 and is typically more like 200. OK in a pinch but laggy.

Try setting your VPN to a different location

I am in northern BC and if I use Canada it is bad, if I set it to the US, I see a hit of about 30 plus to my normal ping.

If I set it to Mexico it is about 60-70 plus

Okay, not valley, but Lower Mainland. Same issue. Change for me occured mid week. Mon Tues, not bad some login delays, and wayshrine to wayshrine delays, but got better.

However, Thurs after, got punted from overland if content was heavy - battling dragon.

Today running trials with guild got punted at least 4+ times. Lots of screen lag and server response delay I.e bar swaps, etc.

Ran ping test and had on one link a 80% failure. Does a VPN tunnel fix this until they fix this?

VPN is a valid workaround and there are several with a free version or free trial you can try. This week I've used ProtonVPN, PrivadoVPN and Tunnelbear with varying results.

Tunnelbear worked the best for me but the free version is limited to 500MB/month. That would be a problem if you want to stream Netflix but for playing ESO I've been using it all week waiting for my regular connection to get back to normal and it has only used about 150MB - the data sent back and forth when playing an MMO is a very small amount actually.

The connection won't be as good as without VPN but it'll do for now.

    Thx.

Benefit of things. Don't know if I can install on sun but will attempt Mon. If this is a solution, this is petty.

After several hours update, everything below is with VPN enabled

Ok, if i get to a zone all is good, basically normal

Anything that calls for a loading screen is a roll of the dice. 100% chance of a 334 - error, lost lobby connection. Reconect usually fairly quick. If I try wayshrine to wayshrine on first go, almost 50% chance of success on second go.

If I use port to player then a better than 90% chance first try

Random DC's on entering a house

But, compared to without a VPN it's no contest

Sunday 8-10 am west coast time ,( BC, Canada ) , considerably less laggy with fewer disconnects - one disconnect occurred immediately after submitting a bug report regarding disconnects.
Ran a pathping and tracert and got similar results as the previous evening when things were literally unplayable - so not convinced that's the entire problem.
Dismissing my companion made a significant improvement to reducing lag - tried this on several toons and had same positive results for lag reduction on crafting and Blackwood daily tasks.
This did not resolve the issue entirely , still getting slow responses at times to open doors, npc spawns etc and the occasional ability drop/disconnect when area is more populated and/or WB combat .
Pointing me back to a Zos server instability rather than a networking issue tho. gl all.

Is anyone still having performance/lag issues NOT in British Columbia at the moment? (PC megaservers)
Are any XBOne or PS players in BC having performance/lag issues?

It looks like there are two different (possibly related problems going on.
    1. Starting on Monday March 14, post-U33, some players were having a bunch of issues, possibly server or network-related. This appears to be almost random in who was affected, i.e. people from all over, but worse at peak hours. A lot of us assumed that this was just due to extra database work due to capturing AWA data on each character etc.
    2. As of Wednesday, March 16, PC platform players in British Columbia (or going through Seattle network link) are having huge lag, which may be due to a lot of packet loss on a Seattle network link (although the link to EU server is also affected).

Are there any exceptions which may help clarify the scope of the problem(s)?

Today I've had no performance issue, but the dungeon queue is broken, or at least so long to be not usable.
  • Bitter_Apple21
    @Marcusorion1

From what I have read that they are changing on their "system", I would tend to agree that although a VPN might speed up comms or mitigate comm issues, my instinct is that something has not been smoothed out with their recent series of changes to the system or Dbase.

The unique thing that still begs the question, is that for me, the first part of the week, had lagging on logins and wayshrine to wayshrine jumps, but I was still able to access dungeons. Not only that but while in dungeons, I did not have "lags" i.e. bar swaps, casting reactions, etc. so although it might have taken a 1 or 2 minutes to get "into the game", the game was playable. Never got ported out.

That completely changed mid week sometime.

Since mid week, logins and wayshrine jumps have been fine, but anything where there is a pace of activity i.e. overland with a dragon, or in a dungeon, is simply not playable. I had a trial "training" run with my guild, and other than me getting ported out due to, I guess, just zero comms to the server, the worst of it was at the end, after 1-2 hrs trying to get thru the trial, I again got ported out, came back as dead, but still in game, but then got ported out again. When I came back in, since I was not part of the game when the final boss died, no one could trade and the boss stuff was not available.

Another system of the dbase issue, is whatever happens on new gear (uncollected) when you log off. In the past i.e. pre this change/release, if I had a piece of gear that was not collected in inventory and logged off for the night, the next day, when I logged in any toon, I would get a notification that "1 something updated in collections" (or whatever it says).

Now, I get some completely different. I got invited to some base dungeons last night, got ported out 2-3 times I think, but was still in game when the boss died, so I picked up some gear for the stickerbook. Let's say 2-3 pieces.

This morning, log in and I get a screen that says "23 pieces updated". What or how that is being processed and why, to me is an indication that the dbase is running overtime on something that makes no sense, but it is this running overtime that is bogging down how it is processing things while in dungeon (where there is a lot more activity), rather than running solo overland farming glyphs or wood or silk, etc.

The number is not even a multiple of the number of toons I have on account.

Really hope it gets fixed as it can get bored rapidly running the same pattern to farm glyphs or whatever.

    :'(

Actually saw a new "symptom" today. Going from wayshrine to wayshrine, or just opening up the one toon with a companion, I started noticing in upper left corner, the words, "...summoning..."

Had not seen that one before.

Normally, Mirri is simply just there.

    Update for Sunday

Using a VPN set to the united states:
Low Ping, almost normal game play, crash on a 334 100% on a zone change but quick reload and never a fail twice in a row. Currently how I am playing. Can not use the way shrine network but using beam me up addon works about 90% of the time first try.

Not using a VPN, located in British Columbia
Very high lag but I can use the way shrines most of the time and change zones but it take a bit.

@Bitter_Apple21 right at the top left of this forum page, there is a narrow bar of text, with "FORUM" highlighted. Just to the right of that is "SUPPORT". Click on that, and then scroll down (assuming you can't find an existing answer to your issue in the support database), until you see the red banner for "Submit a ticket" in the middle of the page. Click on that.

or just go straight through to this page: Open a ticket

Why wasn't this found during the PTS?

Well, of course I don't know what's going on. But we do have this:

    https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/600216/update-on-activity-finder-and-in-game-issues#latest

. . . which informs us that the problems are primarily on the North American (NA) server and not the EU server. It sounds as if the problem with Group Finder is caused by same issue that is causing the other problems too.

If that is the case, then PTS testing would not have identified the problem, if the problem was with the server (NA server, EU Server, and PTS are all separate servers). I'm very curious (being the nerd I am) to know what caused the problems.

But as I said: I don't know what's going on.

    It’s not just NA.

I’ve had trouble logging in on EU for three days - haven’t managed a clean login once.

Luckily, I have not had any problems playing on EU server since the patch, unlike the North American server, where I've had problems aplenty.

Games has been horrible since patch day. My usual 90+ FPS now dips into 20-30 range in cities and the game is near unplayable at night with 3-4 minute load screens that typically took seconds before. Then you have the random can't connect to game server disconnects.

That update is informative, but also reinforces my belief that there are two distinct problems. ZOS is working on one issue, but I'm seeing awful lag for both PC megaservers - I'm convinced there is a network issue too.

Wasn't really bad lag till just an hour ago. It's 7:00 pm in Mt. Now the endless zone in to anywhere has started.

However I really appreciate the window that appears after I have logged out that tells me ESO has stopped working.

Just found my way here bcuz of this same issue.
Game was just fine during the day.
Now around 8-8:30p EST the long load times started, zone to zone, house into OR out of, 5 min+ loading... >.<

Which, on a Sunday night coming up on a work week I wouldn't think would be a prime time load issue.
