I think this would be a good idea for dungeons. Let people use two in there. Would be neat if they had banter between them too.

Although I'm on the fence with this idea, I do love the banter and conversations between followers in the Dragon Age games. It would be absolutely hilarious and make me excited to travel around the game if you had multiple companions that also had conversations and opinions about each other.

Why discourage players even more to find players to group with and play together?

With this new card game that was announced, which is an other way of keeping players from adventuring in the world, I am starting to wonder what is the goal of ZOS with this game. Release a single player version next chapter?

I think companions is a good idea, but having a party of them is not a MMO thing. I play a sorc alt and have never felt that 2 pets gave me the edge or those pets made up for 2 other players. Same with a companion. For me Bastian is like an extra potion, he does not add much, only some annoying dialogue, like "what are you going to do with that" or "for glory" when we are attacking two mud crabs.

In 2006 I started to play WoW, and I remember how most zones had one or several difficult mobs (same as we have minibosses, like a troll or giant). Back then you had to team up with other people to kill such a mob. World bosses needed 40 players or more to kill. So, you quickly made friends and the game was way more fun like that. If people could fill a dungeon with companions then it will be harder and harder to find a group of people.

I don't think multiple companions will influence group play very much. Let's take a look at dungeons. Mechanics alone make it hard for any companion to actually be helpful in. Npcs are very dumb, and there's some dungeon mechanics that you need to do very specific things on. I only use companions in dungeons as a last resort, and only because we can't find anyone to fill that spot. And dungeons with basic mechanics and easy to do, are often soloed anyways.

For overworld, you're not going to see a difference there either. If people want to solo play and stay away from groups then they will. And the people who are not interested in the social aspect of the game, who must group up, are going to group up, kill the boss, type tyfg, and then leave. That's it. Not sit there and chat, and make friends. You're going to have people who are interested and want a more social experience in their game play. But you'll also have those who have more of a interest in more solo less social game play. I know it's an mmo, but eso in their stream mentioned how it is meant for both solo and social players.

But wouldnt it be better to slash the amount of combat xp required to level these pets by 90%?

It would be nice if we could get a type of dungeon-like instance wher you can enter with 3-4 companion at once. The system could also evolve into story mode dungeon eventualy

One of my sorcs runs both pets, Defilers for the Hunger, Tinkers for the Fabricant, Maw for the Daedroth Miri for the Archery and Atro for the Ultimate.

He would be excited to have you tank for him any time.

I'd be happy with a solution that allows:
    - multiple simultaneous companions, *and*
    - a toggle to hide other players' companions, combat pets *and* non-combat pets from view.

OMG no, no, no, no. Its bad enough seeing all the companions running around after people as it is, allowing people to have multiple companions would be awful.

I'd be even happier if we couldn't see other people's companions outside of trials and dungeons.

As cool as it would be to see a full unit running around in overland (in a team uniform!), I don't think that's what the game is trying to be.

I really want 4-man instances to allow more companions because it would encourage a totally different kind of theory-crafting. Companions having complimentary builds with eachother, and your character needing to heal, buff, direct, and protect them all. In an ideal world I would like a new set of leaderboards for DSA and BRP just for companion groups.

This is the only use I'd have for multiple companions out at once. But if this was a feature, I'd have them out all the dang time.

I think your concept of MMOs is outdated... even most current MMOs are starting to cater to solo players since they're realizing that many more people want to play on their own then be forced to group. However, if you can tell me a single player game that runs for 4, 8, 12+ years and receives constant updates, please let me know. Because many people don't like game-hopping, and that's what a single player game is... you play for a few days or couple months and move on. I'm here because I enjoy playing the SAME game for years, and I know many others feel the same way. We're not here for group content, we're here to enjoy the questing and open world. Also, ESO FAILED in the beginning when it tried to be more 'group content' oriented... it was then they realized that players wanted "Skyrim with friends" and that's why they made all the changes with One Tamriel.

Mirri seems pretty interested. When you have a rare item, she sometimes says WOW you don't come by those too often! something like that.

I struggle to see ESO as an MMO. So much of it is soloable with the only exceptions being Trials and most of the dungeons you queue for. When companions first came out I saw criticisms about breaks in immersion. Immersion isn't something you concern yourself with unless you are playing a solo game. I suppose that reaction is a result of the game design. ESO feels closer to a Multiplayer game like Diablo, you can solo everything or you could group up.

I used to play Final Fantasy XI Online. When the game died they rolled out a Companion system they called "Trusts". To help players cope with the lack of players you could summon trusts to fill a party, that size being 6 - You + 5 Trusts. I'd rather not imagine the lag that would come to this game having that kind of clutter with the struggles the game already has. But with clutter like non-combat pets and now companions and likely a further expansion, it seems like the beginnings of a snowball rolling down hill. Odds are it will happen, because it will feed into the system of Outfitting and all that entails from the crown store / ect.

An MMO is a game that multiple people are playing at the same time. It is not required that they always play with others in groups. Just like in real life, there are some things we do on our own and some things we do with others.

    Yes, please.

If this is implemented though, they will need to prioritise one companion's dialogue over the other/s, or have an option to turn off the other's dialogue altogether. Can't have both/all companions talking over each other. Yikes.
