New anti gank hack? Its Miat's!

Alright let me preface by saying I am no newbie and I have ganked 1000s of people since beta, so I know game sense from cheating. There is this fellow that shall not be named that has on three different occasions, on three separate days, at three different hours of the day, whilst looking at their map, managed to randomly throw up block the second my backstab was about to land. One time I would say he got lucky(because this does happen), two times I would say really lucky, but three times IN A ROW he has got to be cheating. I watch this man for minutes straight and he isn't just randomly blocking until I go for the backstab.

I remember there used to an addon that alerted you when you were being attacked and I have a suspicion that some devious hacker has found a way to put it back in the game. I stoop to extremely low and underhanded tactics to win, but even I would never cheat. I have no solid proof that this is what is going on, but I know what I seen. I am at a complete loss as to what I should do to get this problem sorted out. I doubt reporting will do anything and since gankers are universally hated I doubt anyone will care, but this is cheating and you should care.

*Update* Thanks to posters in this thread we now know its an "addon" and not a "hack". I think after you read what it does however you will see that the difference between addon and hack in this situation is just letters.

From the "addons" own description.

"Key features:


1. Channeled attacks notification. Each channeled attack in the game has a start time(when the button is pressed) and an end time (when the attack actually fires). The addon provides an on-screen notification when a channelled attack against the player starts. This notification has the icon of the attack's ability and the name of the player initiating the attack.

Channeled attacks being tracked are:
- all heavy attacks (besides lightning staff and restoration staff),
- Snipe (Focused Aim, Lethal Arrow),
- Uppercut (Dizzying Swing, Wrecking Blow),
- Dark Flare/Solar Flare,
- hard-casted Crystal Fragments,
- Assassin's Will/Scourge,
- Ambush,
- Lotus Fan,
- Screaming Cliffracer and Cutting Dive.

Each channeled/flight time attack icon has an indicator for its duration.

As a bonus feature the addon shows Piercing Mark application along with the name of the player who applied it.

2. Notifications for key projectiles. When you are the target of a projectile skill from the list you will get a sound and visual notification when the projectile is launched. Covered skills are:

- Crystal Blast and morphs,
- Javelin and morphs,
- Flame Reach and Shock Touch,
- Stormfist and morphs,
- Assassin's Will/Scourge,
- Shield Charge and its morphs,
- Toppling Charge,
- Unrelenting Grip,
- Scatter shot and its morphs,"

Now idk maybe this is ok with a lot of you, but in my eyes this is no different then wall hacking in an fps. Gives the player intel and knowledge that they otherwise would have not been able to have. Lets take ganking out of the picture because lots of you hate us. If you try to heavy attack someone using this addon from behind or in a situation they would have a hard time seeing, this addon will notify the user of your attack. This effects us all, not just gankers. Zos please look into this and fix the holes in your game that are allowing this addon and maybe even others to give unfair advantages to players who use them.

Yes he can block that. My go to sneak attack is heavy attack + surprise attack.

Several things that can explain the behavior without cheats:
1. He seen you before, acted as if he didn't notice.
2. He is using crouch and sees that he is seen by someone.

Nah he was standing at a resource two times and afking on a rock the last time. Couldn't have possibly seen me since I travel the entire map on foot while cloaked and I enter stealth while inside my keep. Even if he did that doesn't explain how without spamming block he was able to just "sense" my surprise attack three times back to back on three different days. I think his "game sense" is coming from outside sources.

I have managed to gank just about every player on NA dc/ad and many of them far better and more skilled then this random dude. I know this game is buggy as and I can accept that maybe some bug is making me visible before my attack goes off, but this is the only guy who is doing it. If it was a bug you would think I would be having this happen more often with more people.

Speaking about bugs, I know that some times ago someone described that with CP and Wood Elf it was possible to see people in the cloak. Probably is already fixed by now, but I didn't test.

As far as I understood the start of the channel is send to the clients and can be used by addons to report it and so maybe this incoming info can be possibly used for whatever cheat as well.

Try next time to gank him without the HA - I would bet that he will not block.
(even if your combo is not successful because of the missing HA)

The usual suspects will no doubt come on and construct every more elaborate, implausible and exotic explanations of what you're seeing but I'm an occam's razor guy kind of guy.

If you come across a player in an online game who seems to have preternatural instincts, superhuman reflexes or impossibly good stats, he's probably getting a little bit of help.

The question I'd ask is why are you still attacking him again? NB's get to pick their engagements more than any other class. You meet someone like that, just move on and go elsewhere. It's not worth it....

I think that is what it is because one of the times I started up my heavy attack and he blocked immediately so I did a 180 and whiffed it before it struck him.

You are right I should just stop trying. I am just running out of new people to gank, so this new kid on the block coming in and thwarting all my attempts is very tempting. Can't get reactions from people that I have killed dozens of times already because they are used to it. That and failing a gank is often times more frustrating then dying, so I really want to get this dude. People can kill me, it ain't that hard to just pop an I-win potion(detect potion) or slot mage light, but if I fail to gank someone it gets real.

Even simpler explanation: they're better at a video game than you are.

Ye but even as an experienced player i dont magically know when a nb is about to gank me. And i only use detect pot when i first have seen a nb, not when im standing still somewhere. I would probably just report the player and move on as hes probably using an addon that gives an alert for heavy attacks or other cast time ultimates.

I enjoy hunting gankers. I will absolutely use detect pots in the middle of nowhere and stand there like I'm afk. Fight the same type of player enough times, and you learn to anticipate the sort of moments where they'll try to jump you, and the rage tells when you randomly dodge their opening heavy are delicious. I'm not sweaty enough to be this focused all the time though, and definitely get ganked while typing or not paying attention (ironically an advantage for next time they try).

I enjoy hunting gankers to and my build is designed around fighting Nightblades since I got tired of being backstabbed by them and them getting away when I got the upper hand. I don't use detection potions but I do hold block on flags, have trained myself to dodge roll after breaking free, and have Inner Light and a direct damage AoE at all times.

If I see a NB cloak I'll enter stealth or cast Inner Light and hold block. Remember someone getting angry at me when I did the Inner Light and Block thing thinking I was saying "Don't attack me", but what I was really doing was making it difficult for them to gank me.

Play this game long enough and you just start to expect certain things. Like if too many allies bunch up on a point I get paranoid and try to move away from them or block because it's almost guaranteed a Dark Convergence or bomber is going to find themselves right in that spot...

Or maybe he is group up and he on mic and someone told him to block and they were a decoy. Just saying that does happen.

He could be a wood elf and have max range for detecting hidden enemies. I know when I'm on my wood elf I see plenty of NB and I play dumb and tell my buddies where they are etc... than they gank them.

Everyone including the OP gave possibilities. Best you can do is avoid the forums for what it's and record a video to investigate with zos. My personal unsolicited humble advice, go gank someone else. Game time is money.

I walk up to them with cloak still active so that doesn't happen, ever. If he drank a detect potion it does in fact alert you by opening the eye if you are not cloaked. So while I am sitting there watching him without cloak active I would have been alerted to the fact he drank a detect potion. This last time was a completely different day and he had no reason to think I would be there and not a single hint of my presence. A nobody sergeant who I have never in all my time playing this game seen is not so good at ESO that he can predict a sneak attack like that. No one is that good. Hell an advanced AI wouldn't be able to perfectly block three times like that in a row with no ques.

Yeah, I see similar things on a regular basis. It's probably a hack. I hate the 'git gud' nonsense that's trotted out relentlessly. There are majorly suspect things that go on. Given what known cheats are capable of, the idea of other hacks shouldn't just be dismissed as some sort of old wives tail.

Going out on a limb, I can't imagine it would be too difficult to figure out when a sound effect is being accessed and trigger the block keyboard or dodge roll etc. Like, yeah, all of the game files are bundled up, so the incap noise isn't sitting there as like incap.wav in a folder, but it's read into system memory and accessed every time it's played. It's not exactly easy to tease something like that out, but it's certainly not like, hacking the pentagon lol

I'm pretty sure the fancy new games with anti cheat stuff going on are able to do what they do by creating like, an artificial protected memory block in system memory. I remember being pissed off a few years ago when people were talking about that Fortnite company looking at requiring an actual kernel module to do such a thing at the system layer.

Anyway, I'm basically just talking out my ass here, but if there is such cheating going on, which, in all likelihood, there is, I wish they'd just stop. I'm like, a strong mediocre on my good days, but that's just how it is. They should just play the damned game. Smdh

Can't tell if your sarcastically saluting me or not, but I really do that. Its nice because I pretty much never get ganked while traveling and when you got major expedition going it doesn't take long to travel between keeps. More of you fellas need to start pressing the dang sneak button. Just cause you are not playing a nb doesn't mean that button just becomes totally useless or something and if your a vampire you can sneak or cloak around pretty dang good.

Anyone who has gamed as long as I have has seen hackers. Console and pc it doesn't matter they are in every game and every platform. ESO is not some special game where everyone just agrees to be good boys and girls. The hack deniers are on every game too. Not like were telling them that they are cheating or something. I get that people tell me I am hacking constantly and I am not, so they might want to assume I am just making baseless accusations. I never seen anyone else ever hacking in this game, but this one dude. Macros sure, but its been a pretty clean experience for me otherwise. This guy was being very obvious with it, but makes me wonder now if there has always been people using it more subtle. Might not be a new thing at all. Just keep in mind everyone that Zos did just have that ban wave on all those "innocent" people. Keep your eyes peeled for any suspicious behavior and I guess report them.

Finally some honesty from the "it must be hax" crowd. I'm no pro gamer yet I consistently kill gankers doing most of the things being complained about ITT without cheating. I wouldn't even know how to "hack" this game, that sounds like it takes a lot more skill than popping a detect pot and baiting out thirsty nightblades who think they're the finger of god.

Is it possible that they are using the sentry set? And then baiting you out by "reading his map"? I've baited gankers out like that.

The op literally has years of playing and 1000s of kills. He’s not some nub. And he’s encountered someone sus. Though the majority don’t cheat, some do. No matter the game, real life or not, some players cheat. Even some players who are highly skilled to begin with have been proven to cheat. It’s sad. And either they don’t care or they try to justify it. And it does make you wonder about players who want to deny its existence. As one poster recommended, report and move on. And if you have a video, then upload to YouTube, set the video to private, and send the link to zos. I know for a fact that account action can be taken because I’ve sent in video evidence and that cheat had their account banned.

I'm guessing it's the heavy attack channel. That was the big clutch of Miat's addon a while back.

ZOS made some changes but I think the enemy's client is still giving a warning when you start a heavy attack. I've seen it a lot in BGs too, people doing a monkey roll for no apparent reason when I start a heavy attack.

Then that sneaky boy ran off and I lost him. I don't even care if hes cheating now its just a challenge. A TRUE TEST OF MY BATTLE PROWESS. I have proven today that he can bleed and now I know he can be killed.

I am going to have to create a new build with no reliance on heavy attack and this cheating son of a gun is going down.

This bug existed and as far as I know it has not been fixed. Wood elf is able to see NB in cloak from several meters away with proper positioning.

While its deffnetly possible in theory that some kind of auto Dodge/Block bot can be Programmed, i still doubt it. If this thing exist, its only used by a verry few ppl.
If one of the more famouse PvPer would use this regulary in any PvP inviroment, it would have been detected or recorded on video multiple times by others. But its always the same kind of ppl that cry for cheats, with no real evidence.
(dont want to point out now who i mean "with the same kind", but its clear to the most of you)


In my 5000h and arround 200 000 Kills in Cyro i never saw a cheater/botter/whatever (in last 2 years). But i have been called a cheater myself atleast 100 times...... i even have a screenshot folder just for those ppl.

So i hope you understand why me and most others dont take any cheater claims serious without a real evidence.
