What if they auto hid pets and companions in every town?

I have never really understood the dislike for pets from the ESO community. In 17 years of playing WoW I never saw this complaint and there are a lot more pets in that game in cities (and usually a higher population of people in any given city).

Perhaps its the camera zoom. I think folks in wow zoom out more, where as some people here play zoomed in.

Agree. I don't get it either. I like seeing them.

If this was ever implemented, I would want to still be able to see the pets of people with whom I am grouped.

Also, this is a better "solution" (although I think it is a non- problem) than unsummoning which would be annoying and disruptive.
My #1 wish for ESO Today: Decouple achievements from character progress and tracking.

Combat pets are still a line-of-sight problem when trying to hit enemies at range.

I tried to fight in a dolmen during Witches Festival and there were so many sorc pets in the way that I couldn’t hit anything with my bow.

If I could turn them off and not only not see them, but also remove the collision with them for fights that would be both a visual improvement and a computational improvement as well.

Your arrows will pass through sorc pets and hit the enemy, they pets do not block player attacks against NPC's

If we are at the point to decide to remove this or that, then i ask that duels are not authorized in towns either.

And then to please someone else we will find another thing to remove from the game.

If my companions can not be shown, then there is no need to have them in the crown store.

And i will also ask that some violent colors and disturbing players names be removed.

There is no really need either to show weapons in towns, nore mounts. All those flashy colours can be disturbing for some.

    >:)

Personally i dont have my fight companion out in town, but i like to have a little pet with me. I use an addon to help me manage all that. If people would be more respectful, the question would not even be needed. This is the first game i play where the pets, companions .... will be removed. (The worst that happened to me, was a tank asking me to remove my bear in a normal instance ..... i refused. I am a warden with a bear.)

Yes to companions, the warden bear and magic beasts. They always get in the way and in group content they always trigger the enemies.

The normal pets don't bother me but they should auto disappear when you are at a craft station and especially at the outfit station.

You can't target through the pet as it is becomes the target. I play a pet sorc and understand the frustration as my own pets get in the way sometimes. It is why I'd like to see more space between pet and player and have the ability to place the pet.

This is absolutely true. If you can’t target the NPCs, you can’t even fire your bow.

That alone should be reason enough to remove combat pets from the game. I wish the devs would realize this and acknowledge it. Giant flappies can fill the whole camera view if they are in the right spot and those awful daedra completely block the NPC enemy.

Those giant flappy wings and the up and down bobbing are enough to give you a seizure as well.

As someone who plays several wardens, I wouldn't mind autohiding pets as long as they are instantly visible again if combat is entered. There are a few quests in towns that require combat. But I'd only agree to this if it's for performance reasons. If it's because players just don't want to see them, then nope. There's stuff that irritates me in towns, like players that throw heals/buffs on you, etc. that put you into a combat stance. I'd like a toggle that prevents players from doing that, but I don't expect the game to change to suit me.

    So...

If hiding will help performance in towns, then yes, autohide pets, as long as they become visible when combat is entered.
If hiding won't help performance, then nope. Keep them visible. One player's irritation is another player's interest/fun.

Like turning others visual effects off you should be able to turn off pets... Playing a tank roll is really bad when you have multiple pets over the boss so you can't see interruption etc

Honestly, if I could hide my own pets, I might actually use a pet build. The sorc pets give me a massive headache if I have them out for more than the briefest period. That dang flapping just sends me into instant migraine territory. Reducing their size 10x would probably work as well.

I said yes, though one responder brought a good point of "what next", that I do in part agree with.

But I do think it's really annoying, and definitely not good for performance.

I see no reason why the pets can't just be duration based like the Necromancer ones. At the very least, parading around your daedra should be a criminal act, and just let the guards clean 'em up:

Isn't one of the main points of having pets so that people can see them? What would be the point in ZOS continuing to sell them if nobody could see them?

Pets are pointless to me anyway, I don't care what they do with them. I'm just saying this for people who like them, and want to show others.

If they made them hidden, there would honestly be zero point in pets in general remaining in the game.

Maybe it's because I play on console where the population is lower than on PC, but I've never had a problem with pets getting in my way.

That said, I also don't have any particular need to see other people's pets outside of combat, as long as my own pets don't get unsummoned.

Lastly, if I had my way, non-combat pets wouldn't even be in the game. Most of them are dumb and immersion-breaking, and almost all of them are just microtransaction cash grabs.

Well, are we talking about cosmetic pets or combat pets?

Cosmetic pets aren’t bad, except for those ponies. Too large.

They aren’t selling sorc and warden pets. They aren’t seeing companions...yet.

I wouldn't mind if they gave us the option to turn off seeing OTHER players' companions, but i like having mine with me as i travel about towns. They're companions. They're SUPPOSED to be there with you.

And to be honest, i really enjoy seeing what some people are able to do with their versions of that companion.
