(ZOS is missing the point) Let us choose our tutorial quest not just starting location

    Seems like asking for anything here is like wishing on a monkey's paw. You'll see something happen, but you won't like it.

    Par for the course is: You'll see nothing happen, and you won't like it. :smiley:

    Most suggestions from the community never see the light of day. That's just a reality of life. A few hundred players can generate ideas faster than a couple hundred developers can do them.

    If ZOS really want most new players to land in newest zone, like I said, make a big sign "newest chapter" which larger icon for the newest tutorial

    If the 'cost' for getting to RP through an old tutorial is to have Naryu teach me how to fight again, that's perfectly fine. That's actually what I'd expect if they did it this way. All they'd need to do would be to remove the skill point from the rewards for the 'second' tutorial quest.

    ...wouldn't mind the 'Soul Magic' skill line also going exclusively to Soul Shriven in Coldharbour since that doesn't make sense getting it from Naryu or Fenn, but meh...

    Anyway, most people who want to just get on with the game will skip it anyway and jump straight to the portal room and then wayshrine directly to the zone. The only people who would want to go back to Deepwood or Firemoth instead would be the ones who want to RP a tutorial quest, and the 'combat tutorial' will take up all of a minute worth of time. Not an issue in my mind.

    ZOS should just STOP re-making the game with EVERY chapter or DLC. Re-inventing the game over and over is what has most people frustrated in the first place!

    The original starting quest to save the prophet was fine - and choosing where to go after that, would have been the best idea in my opinion.

    Just with this they'll make almost everyone happy I think, of course re-elaborating the combat tutorial like they have done in Soul-Shriven in Coldharbour quest!

    To me there should be also a portal that makes you start directly in Coldharbour, the very first quest in game that you should do for the storyline to make sense.
    And correct me if I'm wrong, but this one is the only introductory quest that explain what the skyshards are and why they are very important to you :)

    After watching someone play through the new tutorial on the PTS I have to agree.

    We should be presented with the choice to play through the tutorial of the zone we choose (If applicable) or skip it. At the moment the cut scene that plays leaves a lot of questions at the end, especially for the Greymore chapter. If you watch the cutscene you and Fenn are being kidnapped at the end and thrown into the barrows.

    Then... you're just out of the barrows. No explanation as to how or why.

    For a new player this will be incredibly jarring.

    When you start a new game there should be a dialogue box, selected from all of the owned DLC and chapters that the game can detect, asking you to select what cinematic and starting location you want. Before the cinematic, before the character generator, before anything else. We have those .bik files sitting on our hard drives, let's use 'em. I can't think that it would be all that hard to implement.
    Taking stealth away from the Bosmer is like taking magic away from the Altmer, making Nords allergic to mead, or making Orcs pretty.

    100% yes. At the very least let us play the starting zone's old tutorial quest, but just remove the tutorial tips since we'd have already done that in the new tutorial.

    I was watching a video that Hack the Minotaur did on the new system and its very jarring that you get to choose your zone, watch the intro movie, and then are just dumped into the world without getting to do that intro quest and get the context for this specific story.

    Hopefully this is remedied upon release.

    I would definitely prefer to select a specific tutorial in the character creation screen, than this solution of entering portals to specific zones like they are implementing now.

    IMO, new players need to be introduced to the key lore concepts of being the vestige and the idea of collecting sky shard to re-attune to Nirn. Even if a new player goes through this new Balfiera tutorial and choose to start the game's storyline with the base game zone, he is very likely to miss the Coldharbour introduction quest (because it starts with Hooded Figure in faction's major cities, not on faction's starting zones).

    The problem with the new tutorial is that it doesn't leave a very strong impression AND it doesn't give the player context or direction - it leaves them aimless. (EDIT: to be fair I think it would make a great starter island AFTER Coldharbour)

    Sure Pre-One Tamriel was too much on a railroad but the pendulum has swung to the other extreme

    I keep getting falsely excited every time I see a change on the Tutorial section of every PTS but it's not this what you fixed.
