Why do you use the Group Loot add on? 223 votes

I use it to see if others in the group get a drop I may need, so I can ask for it.

Refuse to answer the poll. As it's a combination of 1 and 2, along w/ other reasons as it tracks my own loot, my drops from dailies/writs/etc. Poll choices seem made to reinforce a bias.

I used it when I ran with progression groups to streamline loot distribution. The group prefered it over linking everything in chat.

I put reasons others have mentioned, plus an Other so posters can write in anything else I may not have anticipated. It is not biased.

I don't use it myself personally but I can see how useful it is when you are looking for specific pieces. Even if you ask in group chat, quite often players just ignore and leave group, even if the items they got is heading straight for the decon station. If you see what they got, and ask, at least there's a chance you can get the item, saving you another 25 dungeon runs.

Streamlines lootsharing at the end of a run, as I can simply post the items from the instance once completed. Efficiency matters.

I don't. Just as I prefer to be asked for my gear loot via group chat, I choose to ask for what I need via group chat. As such, there's no reason for me to worry about what someone else may have gotten, but chose not to share with me. That's their business, and knowing it would only serve to make me unhappy.

I don't use loot snoop per se, but my UIBaddon has it on automatically, and I like it, for a combination of reasons 1 and 2. It only shows blue and higher quality drops, shows up in the cost box, and allows me to see when I got a desirable item to trade in addition to showing me who may have gotten that elusive Yolna shield

Its more than just a specific piece I may be looking for. You can also see whats in your sticker book and what isnt. If everyone in my group ran it, I wouldnt need to link every single piece that they might need. They can just tell me by looking in the chat window.

Its your loot, or mine, regardless. The information does nothing to change that, but it does add a layer of efficiency to the sticker book mini game.

I don't use it, but that isn't because I object to it myself; rather, I don't use any add-ons at all, even though I could since I play on a PC/Mac rather than on a console.

I also don't use modifications or add-ons in the single-player ES games, with the exception of additional content created by Bethesda themselves, or approved by them and offered via the Creation Club.

But that's just me and my desire to play a game as "authentically" as possible-- allowing for the use of emulators as needed.

Privacy is a barrier to fairness, if you have multiple players in a group wanting different things and you see one player hording all their drops then I won't give them anything, even if I don't need it....

I don't use it. When I run across someone who does they get added to my ignore list and I won't trade with them. On the other hand if someone mentions in group chat they are looking for a particular item or items that I do not need I will take note and offer it to them at the end of the run.

"I am just nosy" is a pretty negative way of putting it. That's really a main reason you've heard other players say they use this addon for?

I'd say the main reasons I've heard are, in no particular order:
"Makes it easier to share loot at the end of a run"
"So I can see if the gear I need drops and ask that person specifically"
"It makes it easier to make an offer for the gear I need"
"Because I'm used to having loot logs from other MMOs"
"People don't always pay attention to group chat, but they'll pay more attention to a whispered ask/offer"

Now, you've already included some of those or they could come under "Other (please comment)". I'm just more than a little surprised that "I am just nosy" is something a lot of players admit to, over and above the other common reasons.

I use it to make it easier to hand out my own loot to others in the group.
I can't really fully answer any of these options but most of them apply to some extent.

The first, sure, but I mostly wait to ask until it's linked in chat unless it's someone I know personally. It's also helpful when others link stuff to chat as it will show which items aren't in my sticker book yet and lets me request an item with a single click, making it easier to get those things I do need.

The second is the main option I would answer, because the addon I use lets me link everything I don't need to chat with one chat command, making it really easy to share what I don't need. I do this after every bit of content I do in case people need gear from that content.

I also like using it to keep track of drops that I get doing writs and what I get when I'm farming. Especially for items that just automatically go into the craft bag.

I would consider using it for reasons 1 and 2 but there seem to be quite a number of players that are strongly against it. If it were possible for the add-on to only show the loot of others who also use it (and thereby opt in), then I would very likely use the add-on myself. :)

I was just trying to add a fun option. Didn't mean it in a negative way.

But I actually did have a friend who wanted to group with me all the time, even if we weren't even in the same zone, so he could see what drops I got from questing and chests etc., because in his words he was just nosy.

That makes some sense for players who really care about the stickerbook! Thanks for explaining that.

I confess that the stickerbook is one grind I decided to skip, and so I really haven't bothered with collecting pieces beyond what I get from just running the content. Most folks in my groups have been more like "I need Sanctuary pieces" and leaving it at that

One thing I've noticed is a number of people seem to like the addon for the personal loot management. This being the case why does it have to go snooping in other players bags to be useful? It doesn't from what I can see and would still work just as well for premade groups if the requirement was for all players in the group to use the addon.

yeah. especially when farming a gd for antiquity leads. after you run it 5 times in an hour a real pain trying to find out which was the loot from this and not previous runs to link..

[snip] I totally think my opinion is warranted, and if I need to say why, I will if that matters.

I'm not trying to bait anyone with my opinion here that I agreed with binks that the answered were biased. For a poll to be fair and unbiased, it needs to remove the persons opinion of the matter. Having a answer like "I am just nosy" , as well as not having an option to have a combination of 1 and 2, without having to comment on it so you dont skew the results one way or the other. What even is the point of a poll, most people arent going to read the comments especially once multiple pages get going, they are just going to look at raw data at the top. [snip]
