    I am just nosy.

Now, you've already included some of those or they could come under "Other (please comment)". I'm just more than a little surprised that "I am just nosy" is something a lot of players admit to, over and above the other common reasons.

I think all those that voted "I am just nosy" did so sarcastically, and fall under "Makes it easier to share loot at the end of a run" and "People don't always pay attention to group chat, but they'll pay more attention to a whispered ask/offer". I know I did.

Seeing people's loot? what is next? seeing into their inventory? maybe how much gold they have in the bank? that is no ones business.

    1) Have you ever played an MMO before? Displaying your group’s drops is standard

    2) Why would they add API to broadcast actual private account info? This API only displays what you would be able to witness yourself.

If my buddy picks up a glowing knife from a boss we just killed, it makes perfect sense for me to know what he got because I am there witnessing him pick it up, but it wouldn’t make sense to functionally sift through their bags.

I use it for 1 and 2. If I am looking for something, I can see if someone else gets it and ask if they mind giving it to me and conversely, if I get something someone else needs I want them to be able to ask if they need it.

it's, like most addons, a most wonderful qol improvement and time saver.

I use it to make it easier to hand out my own loot to others in the group.
Easy, because it saves time for everyone in the group. If I get for example a Jorvulds resto which someone else needs, he can see it and simply ask for it. This works both directions.

I am not going to check for every item that drops if someone else in the group needs it, that would take ages. I am not going to ask everyone what pieces they are missing in their sticker book at the start of a dungeon. If someone needs my loot, they ask. Simple as that.

People who ask for my loot ALWAYS get it, with the one exception when I need it. On some threads I saw people who said they never give loot to people who ask. I think that is very very selfish. Why do you play an MMO then? Or do you like to spend 5 to 10 minutes after each dungeon comparing sticker books and loot? I don't.

Loot management now as sticker book is a thing, not to ask people stuff but to give mostly as I can't care less myself 90% of times. Used it as a general loot tracker in guild runs to not waste everyone's time with "lf X" in /g but to whisper directly as it's preferred.

When I played WoW years ago, we saw all loot dropped. Players could look at the gear you were wearing, and sometimes would vote to kick you in a run if your gear was not up to standard.

This is nothing really, just a new generation of sensitivity.

I don't use it because I don't pug. If my friends and I are farming something, we let each other know. So there's no need for it.

I use it to see if others in the group get a drop I may need, so I can ask for it.
    Four things really:
    - check if someone got an item I might need
    - link all my looted items from current dungeon with one mouse click (neat function if I don't need anything from this place)
    - manage my own collections (chat notifications with an special icon, hard to miss out the pieces you didn't collect yet)
    - just a time-saver knowing that very often people don't link their junk and just leave after finishing the run (especially during random normal dungeons)

I don't see anything wrong in whispering someone and politely asking if I can get specific item (if they didn't link anything after the run). I don't mind people writing to me either, but I tend to link the gear I don't need to the chat (thanks to that addon which saves me inventory clicks :)).

Run lots of farming / fun runs with a guild, leader promoted it to make sharing gear easier.
However as I see it it has 2 downsides.
    1) it does not show if you know the item or not.
    2) and obviously not if the one got the loot need it or not.
So you need to click on loot after bosses and chests then wispier the one getting it if he need it.

So we list loot at end of run anyway.
Yes its more beneficial if you run farming runs with randoms.
But in this case you better expected to pay if he don't list it as he probably need himself.
Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

Way easier than linking the loot I can share myself, I now just use one command to post the sharable loot in group chat.

I also like the overview of (my) notable loot from the past x hours

    NA/PC - 2 characters (AD)

    1. Typing /lt to automatically print everything I want to share to group chat is so much faster than manually fumbling thru inventory to check every. Single. Item. Every. Single. Time.

    2. I farm a lot, so if I see something drop that I'm after, I'll ask in group chat for it. I'll say, "Looking for x pls" or "Buying x pls".

I ask once. If no one responds, I don't ask the person directly or persist. I just assume they want it and move on. I've gotten a lot of long sought after loot using this method.

    3. I came from another MMO that had a dice rolling system for loot, so loot sharing and viewing isn't a foreign concept to me.

    4. If I'm playing in a group, the group helped me get the loot, so I don't care if they see what I get or ask for it. If I need it, I'll just say I need it. It's not a huge drama to me.

    5. I like to track how often items drop especially rare items. It really is surprising how horrible RNG can be once you start to track how often something drops.

For a poll to be fair and unbiased, it needs to remove the persons opinion of the matter. Having a answer like "I am just nosy" , as well as not having an option to have a combination of 1 and 2, without having to comment on it so you dont skew the results one way or the other. What even is the point of a poll, most people arent going to read the comments especially once multiple pages get going, they are just going to look at raw data at the top. [snip]

This is not an opinion poll. It's merely to gather information.

As you are aware there is a thread discussing this addon that has gotten rather heated. The purpose of the addon came into question. This poll can help to clarify what players see as it's purpose and what they use it for. And I appreciate all the feedback which has been very insightful.

I already explained I was just trying to put a fun reply with "I am just noisy." And yes I could have put more options and combinations of options, but anticipating every answer someone may give isn't as easy as you may think. Thus the "Other" option.

As far as most people not reading the comments, nothing bad will happen if they don't. They personally just won't have all the information but it has absolutely no effect on the results.

yeah. especially when farming a gd for antiquity leads. after you run it 5 times in an hour a real pain trying to find out which was the loot from this and not previous runs to link..

    Yup, it just saves time.

That is very interesting, I get the star in chat and in inventory but not in the loot log might be an config for this or as you say an additional / other addon.

It's standard in games in which loot is typically shared between all players. ESO has no such loot sharing system. Each person gets their own loot drops irrelevant to what other players get from the same mob.

I don't run much with non-guildies, so I use it with friends b/c half of them don't pay attention to what they get and its easier to just look and ask for an item if they don't want to keep it.

    1. To track my own loot.
    2. For the "you don't have it yet" marker on items. Great when shopping for set pieces on guild traders.
    3. To link what I don't need in chat for those who don't have them.
