It's gambling and the apex stuff should be available with crowns also. At 400 gems they are basically a $100 mount. That's more than the game itself.

The gemprices are really fair. They have two kinda cheap, and one 'chase-after' to be able to still sell the crowncrates. As the gemprice for that one makes buying crates worth it. And with different gemprices, they still allow players to get them all if they want. Instead of all of them being 2.5k, which would make the gemamounts unreal for those chasing all of them.

Wonder how many crowns they give if we get duplicates. Like we buy one, and chance it from a crate after. Or if we chance the same twice from a crate.

Statistics, most likely. They checked how many of the Apex mounts have been bought with gems and then they just sorted it out. The cat is the most popular so it's the most expensive.

The prices are rather nice, especially 1200 gems for the wolf (for me, just based on preview, it's the best of all 3 in this season). Sadly, he has simple animal voice, and his howl and effects are underwhelming (somebody already posted a video) - not worth the price, or the chase for me

I would not think they can be duplicated. They are still in special category...
Radiants in normal seasons can not be duplicated. People often mistake Reaper's Harvest crates and Dwarven crates for normal seasons, but those two seasons don't have proper Radiant Apex reward tier. Radiants in those seasons are actually Apex mounts, but with lower drop chance. That's why people were getting doubles, or getting them from 4th non-bonus card.

If only somebody from developers could answer here if Radiants in this season behave like Apex or lower tier rewards, or not?

at 1000, it will take you ~150+ crates to make that amount of gems.

Glad I usually dont like the looks of the radiants or the apex for that matter.

Thought I might buy a few crates to get the extra gems I’d need to get one of the mounts. But not at these “gem” prices. Not spending that amount of IRL money. During an economic downturn.

Already made a pass on the Markarth house (due mainly to the recent CP changes) and am seriously considering giving up ESO+.

I love the game and enjoy playing. But the higher cost for in-game rewards feels out-of-whack with my IRL financial abilities.

You guys are forgetting these mounts were previously unobtainable!! Unobtainable, as in lottery lucky. So yeah, the prices are fair in my opinion.

Compared to the other mounts for 400 gems, and the gem exclusives for 600 gems, this really is in line with what I was expecting. Due to their rarity, and as an incentive to buy crates to get lucky.

I agree that the prices are fair within the context of how the current system has set up. Having them available for gems is certainly superior to the alternative. This does represent an improvement over the old system, certainly.

Unfortunately, it's still problematic because the system is still basically a slot machine. Although it is now a slot machine with a hypothetical upper spending limit, that spending limit is... well... it's a level of yikes that well exceeds healthy spending for most people.

Edited to add - naturally, the more substantive and informative post I wrote about this issue was removed. Because of course it was. It's apparently not constructive to point out how gambling addiction is a real thing, that gambling in video games is a serious problem, and that it's a bad industry practice. *rolls eyes*

I was guessing the prices would be between 2.5k-3k. Which I was expecting the highest to be, while expecting the other two to be around 1.8k-2k. The price that would be too much for even me to accept, would be 3k+. As by then the rarity no longer outweights the gemprice, atleast in my opinion.

I usually try crates to get every mount/pet from the crates(non radiant/non apex), and end up between 1k-2k gems. By then I decide to just buy those with gems, as they are only 100 gems tops. And the chances to get a radiant apex are practically zero. With the current gemprices for radiant apex's, I would probably buy some more crates to complete the leftover amount. And actually get a radiant apex.

Thats fair, personally it isn't worth it for me nor have I ever had a radiant apex. But my point is simply that if people are willing to pay the price, then it isn't overpriced for them and good for them

I think they missed the mark with this pricing.

A player like me who didn't really mind the gambling side of crates and would spend a couple hundred bucks over a few months, was excited to be able to acquire the apex of my choosing.

...but with this pricing, yikes.

I think I'd feel embarrassed riding it around.
It actually had the opposite effect on me that it was intended to. Lol

...and I was willing to put significant money into the game!


I might still buy the senche. I haven't decided yet.

...but the point of these mounts is to have something a little unique. Something a little flashy.

At these prices I feel like all that mount says is "I make bad decisions with my time or money".

I am rather surprised that so many predicted prices over 3000 Gems, but perhaps that made the most sense in a direct rarity to Gem kind of ratio. The mounts are pretty, but well out of my price range, as I expected them to be, and that’s okay. I’m happy I got the regular apex horse from the crates.
