or it could be animation canceling that causing it.
    its worth looking into.
and yes i am being serious about that, not joking, it very well could be the cause.

I don't doubt that there are bugs and bad coding, but during MYM it is always noticeably better and we know it is because they create more instances and use more server resources. This is common knowledge. All these tests against AOEs, groups, proc sets, healing have probably absolutely nothing to do with performance and 100% to appease a handful of PVPers you can't 1v20 any more or gank like crazy.

BTW i know a little bit about programming and I have been saying for years the animation cancelling bug they call a feature is most likely causing some issues. Just the way the toon stutters and jerks, tells you it is not something that was ever programmed to be that way (unless devs did no QA). What it looks like is instead of having a hard coded timer for light attack, they just thought the animation would be enough, until people start cancelling it with skills/block/bash. It should have been an easy fix to just add a timer or make the anim uncancellable.

Anyway, I hope the next cyrodiil test is no armor no weapons, just whoever can do an ULT, LA, skill, LA, execute the fastest gets the kill. Then Cyro PVP will be the best where only the most skilled prevail.

How am I reading people saying performance is ok 😂 it is absolutely awful. Even worse than before the test. It is unplayable starting at prime time and stays that way for hours. Still awful lag at midnight lol.

Yep, unfortunately it is not only cyro. I have been crashing all night just doing dungeons, trying to enter BG and walking around stormhaven. I have never crashed this much ever, these changes are having ripple effects that are totally unacceptable.

For me, performance seems as good as during MYM, which was good and better than it has been before.

I have been very glad to not see Crimson Twilight and ball groups all wearing Vicious Death everywhere! Proc sets doing so much damage on their own, without any effort or even attribute allotment on the player’s part was just ridiculous IMHO. Proc sets, if they are going to be viable, should complement a player’s skills and abilities.

I’m dying as much as ever in Cyrodiil, but not because of failed response input or to people’s armor — so that is a good thing!

While I enjoy fighting when the game works (and not instantly dying because I get 20+ negative effects and procs applied to me the second I fight people), the performance is at its absolute worst I have ever seen. Went to both Blackreach and Ravenwatch (PCEU) and even a campaign like Blackreach, which is known for being slightly dead in EU, was lagging. Ravenwatch was an absolute dumpsterfire and takes roughly 5-6 seconds for certain skills to activate and/or go off.

    So far:

Gameplay wise fighting without procs: 10/10

    Performance: 0/10

Still getting lag spikes in Grey Host, especially in areas of high load (major keep battles with tons of siege).

That said, I’m having so much fun playing without the procs sets. It feels...pure. I’d take the lag if it meant we didn’t go back to a proc meta

Do we really need to run this test for three weeks? That seems very excessive considering that the performance has not changed at all. People are still disconnecting (and in some cases this has increased to people who rarely disconnected before). We even have an early indicator that ball groups are near ... the lag picks up more than ever and half your group disconnects.

The only thing that I can observe as having improved is that we are not in combat forever once combat ceases.

I don't think we need three weeks of more beta testing on a live server to offer you the data you said you were looking for. Unless you're looking for something else you haven't shared with us?

I haven't had major issues with gap closers by now. Usually they are unplayable for me, because after using them I get ported all over the place and everyone is out of reach of my melee skills. This is especially true for my dk chains, as different then the 2h gap closer, for example, you lose an extra second: First you fire a projectile to the enemy, then you have to wait about a second while nothing will be happening, then you will get drawn to the enemy (if he hasn't broken LOS in the meantime). It usually feels as the dk chains tike twice to thrice as long to actually close the gap compared to 2H/SNB/NB gap closers. Add to that not actually be able to use your melee skills on the enemy, because you get deynced by the gap close... Pretty much useless, right? Well, currently I can use it and so I will. I just hope it stays like that consistently.

AC is an big factor but no one well say it because then they have to fix the longest running bug in the game that became skill lol

    well said.
    thank you for the honesty.
it has been my belief all along that it is the servers and also the animation canceling that causes lagg.
    (or maybe the 2 combined)
but that does not mean im right, is just my theory, and i could very well be wrong.
it would have to be tested and examined to tell if true or not.

Your theory has a major whole though:
There is usually less animation canceling going on in ball groups than in solo / small scale gameplay. Yet severe lags only occur when ball groups are around and thus less animation canceling going on.
In addition lag reduces the potential for animation canceling, so if your theory was true the problem would fix itself automatically and then the cycle should start again. Yet the problem persists as long as the ball groups are around. And disappears with the ball groups dissolving.

I'd agree performance is still basically the same (as expected).

This test I dont mind since we're all playing by the same rules and I could use 3 weeks with no Crimsons, Earthgores, Venomous Smites, Caluurion's, etc.

This is nothing new - this has been happening for at least two years now (because it was happening before I had to take a year break while in Japan and that was 2019).

Indeed it is only a test. Just play it and get double AP. The sets with conditions and procs have been disabled and therefore pvp becomes less diverse, and random like playing in a casino. We are all superheroes now.

Personally I see a improvement in gameplay and less lag, and that makes bigger fights possible, ofc that leads to noticible lag in the end. Just look around a see how many activity is happening, it is logical.

Here I am, feeling like an idiot. Heard that only proc sets are disabled, didn't looked up this thread, wasting my time running around with pelinal's. See ya in a few weeks, I guess.

PS: your performance is still terrible.

Yep they are both affected since they have a proc condition to use a stamina or magicka ability.

    No, sewers still dead.

Ran around as a werewolf for an hour, collecting skyshards, fighting bosses, etc. Even went to the center looking for a fight, spent 30 mins fighting bosses there.... never saw a single other player from an enemy faction.

I thought that IC would be packed with test refugees..... nope.

There are no ballgroups running past 10pm cet, at least on ravenwatch eu. It is still unplayable. Explain to me how? Or do you only play when ballgroups are running so base your experiences on that? 'Severe lags' occur starting at primetime and continue until midnight (sometimes before primetime).

There are various forms of lag in Cyro, some types may be reduced by the test’s others are not ZOS related.
    1. Lag spikes when skills do not go off and bugs like the slow bug appears as well as crashes. These lag spikes have a higher probability with locked server, but only appears randomly, sometimes also outside of big fights.
    2. Lag dependent on the number of players in the instance, especially when there are many players at the same place, skills will not go off or are delayed. This type of lag is always present.
    3. Lag, which is individual, hitting specific players for various reasons, this lag is sometimes fixed by restarting the computer and/or internet connection. It also seems to hit people randomly with no clear pattern.
    4. Lag, due to bad internet connections or low-capacity computer. These persons always have lag and will not be able play on locked servers, without severe lag.
    5. Lag, due to addons, especially harvesting and trading addons. This can be fixed by running without addons.
Type 4 and 5 lags are not related to ZOS. I am no expert so I don’t know if type 3 is related to ZOS but my guess is that its largely internet related. This leave type 1 and 2 that ZOS should fix. The previous test cycle tested aoe skills and group sizes, most players and ZOS concluded that there was a limited reduction in type 1 lag. Presently we are testing the effect of “proc sets”, In my guild many see substantial improvement regarding type 2 lag but type 1 is still there.

I have also noted that many included me like the fights we have now in cyro, more than when the proc sets are around. There is also some clear balance changes, pugs and guild raids dominates the environment, while small scalers and bombers are largely absent.

The full list of Sets which are not affected by this test are as follows:
    • Amber Plasm
    • Armor of the Trainee
    • Beekeeper’s Gear
    • Crafty Alfiq
    • Draugr Hulk
    • Endurance
    • Fortified Brass
    • Grace of the Ancients
    • Hunding’s Rage
    • Impregnable Armor
    • Law of Julianos
    • Leviathan
    • Mother’s Sorrow
    • Plague Doctor
    • Shacklebreaker
    • Spinner’s Garments
    • Spriggan’s Thorns
    • Willpower Agility

I have a question, this sets working only for Cyrodiil and imperial or for battlegrounds too? On battles we can use
all the game sets or only the sets from the list?

And as for the Cyro, it is only lag, lag all the time...it is worst than before with the proc sets...

My conclusions about this test after playing ALOT of hours daily: >:)

Same lag as before the test.-

Same crashes as before the test.-

    Prime time unplayable.-

Same FPS degradation over time (After playing few hours you have this bug and your fps drops to 10, the fix for this is change zone or log out but if u leading a raid you lost the crown and requeue).-

    Hammer = Worst lag ever.-

Three weeks of "testing" is alot of time (sorry but the test already failed), hope u can revert this.-

Just a question, could we get a temporary class change token, so we all can play as Sorc during this test and switch back later, when we get proc sets back to mitigate the weaknesses of our classes? Thank you.

Alternatively I'd take a reversion of the changes to the DK Wings ability to let them reflect projectiles again. Also if Leap actually has a minimum reach it should say so in the tooltip.

One thing I've noticed during this test is that people who build tanky are even harder to kill without the added pressure of procs.

Spent 15 mins outside Roe last night on my werewolf, fighting a warden from one faction and a DK from another.... along with various other players who came and went during that time. Nobody could kill anybody else, and after a while we all ended up just standing around looking at each other, dancing, laughing and whatnot. It was fun....... but a huge waste of time. Honestly, it's not even worth the double AP if you can't kill half as many players as usual.

It's true: the weak have gotten weaker, and the strong have gotten stronger. Raising the ceiling and lowering the floor at the same time doesn't seem like a good strategy for PvP health.

But that is a good thing. Tanky players shouldn't be able to kill players. They are trading tankiness for damage. No one should have both like the current proc meta promotes.
