Give us a Barbershop, and Hide Shoulders options

WoW doesn't sell hairstyles and other appearance cosmetics seperately though. Before they added the barber you had to buy an appearance change for the tiniest thing, like changing hair. In ESO you can change hair and other things willy nilly if you've them unlocked.

Maybe that's because WoW knows how important customization is to players. It took awhile to get them to hide shoulders, but they finally did. In fact they went a huge step forward and made it so now you can hide any armor except pants.

They also added skin color and every other facial feature to the barbershop besides just hair styles and colors.

All I am asking for is an affordable way to change my hairstyle and color. At the very least the hair style cosmetic pack should include hair color. It's ridiculous to expect us to spend 1000 crowns if all we want is a new hair color.

And a way to hide the hideous armor pieces that completely ruin what could be some very nice looks.

And yes, they finally let players hide armour pieces. After how long?
No, WoW doesn't have some superior view of costumization. Far from.

Not bothered about a barber shop as the hair options are mostly limited and ugly anyway ( I've only ever used the same 2 or 3 options on numerous characters anyway)

But for the love of God give us a hide shoulder option. I can't tell you the amount of times I've made an outfit I really like, only to be stopped in my tracks by the mostly MASSIVE shoulder options I have available, or that they are super glued to the side of my characters arms when I'm wearing a sleeveless cuirass??

It did take them awhile, and no they aren't going to have the same amount of customization in body size etc., because WoW is an old game. BUT they did listen and did give players a way to look how they want to look without dipping deep into their pants pockets to pay for it.

But Zos had not sold packages to the players already which is a significant difference between what WoW has done and what we have here in ESO.

Further, Zos has made more than hairstyles available via these packages. Adornments, skin markings, and even beards have been made available via the crown shop.

Edit: And I have provided a suggestion that would fit with what Zos has already set up here and would make limited changes more affordable. It would provide players control over the all or nothing design of the appearance change token and not be as limiting as the appearance packages. However, it would still cost crowns because it is a greater evil to upset those who already paid crowns for appearance packages.

I know these things have been requested before, and I'm sure they will be requested again, because this game is greatly lacking in customization options for our characters. I am not going to pay 1000 crowns to get the Cosmetic Pack: Hair Styles when it restricts you to which styles you can choose and doesn't allow a color change. And I'm certainly not going to spend 1000 crowns for an Appearance Change Token to use once, just to change my hair color.

And shoulders and those tassets and things hanging way down over our crotches are hideous, and we should be able to toggle them off. Or at the very least make a duplicate of the same style with those removed, so we can choose how we want to look.

I don't think it's unreasonable to want our characters to look good. And we shouldn't have to spend and arm and a leg for what minimal changes you currently allow.

Barber us meh fir me but ud love to hide shoulder and those STUPID hip guards

Agree shoulders; tired of going through every single one of them twice trying to find something that looks ok & doesn't have the chest piece poking through. Nope...go to next chest piece & repeat.

Barber? I already got a stack of different hairstyles. Never been a prob.

Couldn't these requests be covered by an expansion of the Outfit Stations we already have? Those stations already have dyes and facilitate dramatic outfit customization, after all. Not that we need every Achievement color for hair and skin, but they could give us a more limited palette.

(I think this has been suggested in some form before, I just didn't see it in this thread.)

After ages, and they are often very limited and they ignore many other requests. Just look at their transmog (Their version of outfits, for those unaware). They even break their own "rules" for it, like how they stated that an item with stats and of green quality or higher is transmoggable. Yet many aren't. The phrase "No fun allowed" was said a lot when I played. Don't get me started on how annoyed me and others were over how bad they are with giving npcs a lot of stuff but not letting it available to players. We have a little of that here but not close to WoW.

Yes, Blizz throws a bone on rare occations, but it sure ain't some superior "WoW knows how important customization is to players" view.

I don't care for a barber at all, because of the Collections. But we do need to be able to hide more armour pieces.

    I use the Outfitter.

No matter how ugly my armor would look, no one ever sees it. The Outfitter gives the look i want and it only costs in game gold. So I don't see an issue with ugly monster shoulders.

Bottom line is other games have realized that appearance is very important to players, and some have wised up and made changes. ZoS knows this too, yet still holds onto locking things like dying your hair behind a huge cost.

Like I said in an earlier post, making your customers happy keeps customers and brings in new ones. New ones who will spend money for other things such as subscriptions, crown crates, mounts, etc..

While we're at it, please allow us to disable/stop making armour with those weird flappy things at the side. They actually prevent you from using certain combinations of motifs because of how bad the clipping gets.

For example I really love the way medium abah's watch legs look, but there are so few styles that can go with it without clipping that I don't use them as much as i want to.

ZoS, you can earn so much good will by taking in the suggestions from this thread.

Of course I'd love to have a barbershop as in WoW and RIFT. Who wouldn't? But.... it's likely to come packed behind a paywall.... And really, I have no idea why these armor devs insist on the flaps everywhere. Distasteful....

The worst part is these mud flaps hover so far away from your body that you can see just how good most of these pieces would look without them. I can't figure out how anyone thinks those look good.

ZoS knows this as well, and these "other games" keeps all manner of things away or behind a paywall just like ZoS. They don't have some superior mindset over this, especially not Blizzard.

It's more likely they add some hair colour collection for us than some "barber" that would be a giant gold sink or still cost crowns.

What we can agree on though is that hip and crotch flaps are for the most part awful. Think I can count the ones I like and which fits the armour on one hand.

    Regarding hair color.
Its weird that you can change hair styles around a lot going from short to long hair in an moment, but not change your hair color.
Now on an Khajiit this get much weirder as you can change your fur color, stripes one day spots the next, then none.
Yes you can not change the base color but still.
The longer hair on your head you can not change.
Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

I was a Beta Player (have the monkey to prove it) enjoyed it as a sub game. I am also an example of the other side of the coin. They loose money from me by treating me like an ATM machine. I have the disposable income so if I wanted to I could change my hair color once or twice a week on a whim. I could change my character's height, race, and faction a few times every month. I am one of the actual people like so many people who did buy some some of the base hair packs, followed by a few others when they came out.

Eventually it seemed as if they did not value what was fun for me just how much money they could make for me. So I stopped purchasing things. If the game added a few things for free like the barbershop, hair dyes, I would start spending more money again. Because for every person who says if they gave those things it would be a slap in the face to people who spent money. There are plenty of us who feel like it is a slap in the face because all they value is our money and not us being long time players.

As a long time player myself, I still say that it's fine that we can't just change appearances at a whim.. Hair styles/color for gold, sure.. Tats and stuff like that, ok.. Just not skin color, body construction and all that jazz

I'm not asking for full character customizations. I'm asking for a barber shop to change hair styles and colors. Right now the only way to change hair color is to spend 1000 crowns for a full appearance change that you can only use once. That's ridiculous.

This. The only reason I care is because the color of your hair determines the color of certain adornments, like the dragtondancers circlet and chain. :( If I had known that at character creation I would've just made my hair solid black.

These are the same developers who made the revised motifs separate “ancestral motifs” instead of just updating the pre-existing ones. Because they could monetize and incentivize.

If they put in a barbershop it would be monetized to be about the same.

OR they could - oh I don’t know - make it a free service for ESO+ members

I'm pretty sure some people would get annoyed if they updated/replaced the old motifs, especially if it's only the top tier ones as it is now.

Devil's advocate, but they did update the pre-existing motifs a while back. There was... a little bit of blowback from that. Since then, they've said they're not touching anything that's already been released unless it's a legit bug.
(full disclosure: I joined way after that happened, and I do think the Orc motif looks better now, but I also think the old Redguard one was better)

Besides, comparing the standard Altmer/Nord/Orc/Barbaric motifs with the new ones, they did a lot more than just update the textures. They have as much work put into them as the Hazardous Alchemy motif. And they're technically not monetizing the ancestral motifs either since you can't buy them in the crown store, but even someone without Greymoor/Markarth/ESO+ can get them from guild traders.

Anyway, to the topic - I'd love a 'hide slot' for everything. They did have it in a demo build, so it exists; I don't know why they don't just release it since everyone's asking for it. Shoulders and some belts are especially bad, but I wouldn't mind a hide everything so Khajiit or Bosmer can go without shoes or Barbarians can show off the chest tats they got out of crown crates. Yeah, people will run around without pants, but let's face it - it's already possible to put your character in a bright pink Nordic Bather Towel if you want, so what's the difference?

I bought the hairstyles pack mainly since some races don't have certain hairstyles at creation (e.g. Nords can't get the short Imperial style without that pack). I notice there are also some scars/war pain that's also closed off from certain races, but I didn't feel like buying those packs, mainly since there are so many and that folder is already so clogged with stuff I don't use. But also, since there's no 'hide slot,' it's tough to show it all off. Hair - and even skin - colors? I'm disappointed that we see NPCs with colors we can't get (why can't my Orc be green like Mighty Mordra or my Nord be a ginger like Trynhild?), but I'm dealing with it, especially since my character is already made.

We could also really use a 'mark as favorite' for the collections tab.

I would like to be able to pull premade characters into the creation room just to look at them though. I don't have a token since I won't need to use it, but it'd be nice to be able to see what the sliders were, even if I'm not changing anything. I just can't see spending 1000 crowns to be able to tell someone what my sliders are.

I forget the name, but there is a shoulder style that is a thin metal plate on the back of the arm. They are effectively invisible.

They are pretty expensive, like 400K for the motif. Maybe more.
