I have spent well over a £1000 plus in game gold from crown sellers... total of 11k + crown gems! Multiple duplicates of everything and Still no Radiant Apex Senche Rhat darkfang! I feel depressed! It isn’t right...

Getting you to spend absurd amounts of money is the point of Crown Crates though.

This is true but at the end of spending a subsequent amount of money filling their pockets you would like to expect what you set out after surely. The real kick in the nuts is hearing others get it within a few crates.

WoW had a nice mount for their anniversary that I really wanted. That cost me £20. TWENTY POUNDS!

You play you lose, no one forced you and you already know it's total RNG.

Dunno why people keep spending ton of money in something they know it's a cash grab and then come forum while angry about it...

No, if they wanted that, they would've just put that mount in crown store. Or allowed you to buy radiants for like 5k gems or whatever.
The whole point is to drain as much of your money as possible, sadly. There's no upper limit on spending.

Agree ^ frustrating nonetheless. Harsh lesson learned. Been on the game since day one and this is the only time I have ever gone crazy over something I really really want :'(

The drop rate has been documented in crowncrates.com, it is abysmal for radiant apex. Knowing this doesn't make it less frustrating, but at least you know beforehand what you're getting into. Crown gifting was an ingenious move on ZOS' part, it encourages people who wouldn't spend RL money on cosmetics to do so indirectly. I buy crates with in-game gold too, and sometimes it's easy to forget that at the end the house always wins. I find that if you don't have your heart set on any item in particular, and just enjoy the proces sof opening the ones you bought and what you get, makes the experience better.

Don't rage at the crates or the practice, rage at yourself.
    • you chose to spend that money
    • you decided not to stop after a lot bad RNG

The simple truth is that by design, these things have low chance and (ultimately) high cost. The only way to beat the system is to not participate in it.

Yeah, I know the feeling. I really wanted that red/black senche from scalecaller crates and often caught myself thinking of buying a few packs of those crates (but after being burned with vMA inferno staff rng I didnt). It's just a very manipulative tactic.

Oh, yes, people can. [snip] You are free to spend your money as long as it doesn't go into malicious things. As for clown crates, just take a look at how popular they've become, what they do to the consumer and ask yourself how we got into this situation. I'll leave it to you to decide whether they're malicious and if people should be told to not spend money on 'em.

A trap that a lot of people fall into is thinking that when they haven't gotten a radiant apex in the last 100 crates, it will surely drop soon. Whatever your past crates contained doesn't affect the propability of you getting a radiant apex in the next. You can go FOREVER without getting a radiant apex, no matter how much money you spend.
As seen above, the odds are roughly 0.29% but that doesn't mean you'll actually get 29 after 10 000 crates. You could very well get none and it won't make the next 10 000 crates contain it either.

There is no guarantees for anything.

I'm honestly curious, are rewards from crown crates giftable? I've only done the free crate drops.

So say I get one pack of crates, and I get that mount in those crates. Could I gift it over to @Anne13 ?

Nope. But you can gift crates themselves.

If you want stuff from the gem store the only way to get it is from crown crates.
You get a reliable 3-6 gems per crate so if you really want something ..

That's going into off-topic territory, but I think that while government (or, okay, whoever holds the power over your community) can prohibit offering and purchasing of certain goods and services, on person-to-person level nobody has that authority. Well, maybe your ma when she gives you some pocket money.

As for predatory tactics - we ourselves are at fault. We make them work.

I civilian can't enforce you to not spend money on certain very wrong things. But you should still tell a person not to.

    [snip]

I don’t think we’re having performance problems because people invest money in the game; I think there’s no impetus for ZOS to actually fix the game, because why spend that time, effort, and money when people who don’t play in Cyrodiil are throwing thousands at them for a chance at obtaining a digital mount? The old “vote with your wallet” thing doesn’t affect them when there are people spending more money on the game over the course of a few days than I would spend in an ENTIRE YEAR of subscribing.
