"We're adding a new final level to the end of Maelstrom. The Theatre of Despair is now the second to last level, and all Maelstrom weapons will drop upon completion of this new level, and not Theatre of Despair.

Would you be okay with this patch note?

Is that level fun new content? Then maybe. But it would be total *** move since we already farmed it again once.

Now apply that logic to moving rapids to where vigor was in the alliance assault skill line.

Its a **** move because I already earned it once.

You wanna compare finishing vMA and a hypothetical 10th level ultra complete of vMA to the hour of pvp it takes to unlock those skills?

    Ok.

Finishing vMA as it is right now only takes me about 40 minutes.

I don't concern myself with what other people choose to believe. That's not even the topic of this thread.

You can learn a lot just by watching a few videos and having high CP. I cleared vHoF(pre-nerf) on HM with my guild before I ever attempted vMaelstrom.

Okay guys, let's take a productive turn. I have a few questions, regarding leveling this skill line and getting some rewards of the worthy (for geodes) as someone that's never done PVP and doesn't have a dedicated PVP set. I've only ever been to Cyro to visit the golden vendor and do delves. I hear that finding a zerg and following it around for an hour or two is the way to go. I guess my question is, how do I get in on that action? Are there certain things to look for that'll give me an indication where the fight is? And do I have to do any initial quests to get started? Thanks!

@Versispellis Its pretty simple, if you just type 'lfg' in chat (looking for group) someone will pick you up. Then you can follow your groups crown to all the fights, but if you want to do that yourself you can open your map.

If you look at enemy keeps you will see the 3 rss around it. If a couple of those are flagged (animation behind the rss icon) then there is fighting there. If you see swords with your color, and an enemy, or all 3 colors there is a fight happening between x players.

If you see a keep that is flagged (animation just like the rss's) you will see below how many siege are up, and what faction is doing the fighting.

Plus usually people will make call outs in zone chat like for me as a red one we see often is "911 BRK FD" (Fd is front door.)

That's not even the topic of this thread.

Considering the title of the thread and the content of the first post I'd say discussion of the difficulty of vMA and the veracity of claims made about time spent completing it is exactly on topic.

BTW if you are as much of a champ as you claim to be you should be able to both re-unlock vigor and get crowned Emperor in about 15 minutes. ZOS is doing you a favor by forcing you finally realize your full potential.

    About an hour.

LOL. Comparing content that takes months on and off for some to complete with couple of evenings of zerg surfing.

No no, u didn't get it, we already earned vMA weapons twice, even more, with each run in average of 40 minutes, drop rate of fire staff is once per 13 runs average runs. It is 8 hours per staff in average. And we already did it once again (I am still refarming them). So, complaint about 8 hours of PvE Vs 1 battleground (maybe 2) that take half hour (barely) seems like a click bait. It ain't even a good click bait.

That was very thorough, thank you so much! It definitely makes the whole thing less intimidating to approach. I don't think I'll be very effective but I know the onus won't be on me to do especially well as long as I contribute something. Again, thanks!

    Ok.

Even more, comparing a solo arena, on veteran which is quite difficult for a vast amount of players.

You honestly dont even need gear to earn AP, just siege...plenty of empty keeps around too ;)

After what they did to our existing vMA weapons in Greymoor, I don't care what will happen to the arena :D I stopped grinding it in 2018 - and now I don't even have weapons to show for it, cause everyone can get same weapons on normal nowadays.

But this analogy is just awful. Not even remotely comparable to running a whole new stage in the arena.

Rapids are wholly unnecessary outside of minor convenience for new characters. I would argue that if you are in PVP before level 50 you have more problems than worrying about whether you have rapids right away. And, if you are leveling a toon, doing a handful of BGs for the daily random bonus is a great way to do so and earn the AP required for rapids.

It takes 48K AP to reach rank 5 which unlocks the second skill. That is such an insignificantly small amount of AP to earn to unlock this skill that is completely unnecessary. Like 8 BGs at the absolute most if you lose every one of them and 4 if you win every one. This is barely a set back. In Cyrodil, it means you have to take a few keeps before you can use the skill. Like 30 minutes of gameplay.

Not a fair comparison. With the rapids change there is a chance you could lose a skill you have had access to for a long time. For your comparison to work they would have to actually take away your weapons and only give them back after you complete the final round.
