Eventually, I figure that they will do one. For a lot of players, probably the most boring year ever, but then that has been the case for PVP players for a long time. Wonder which group provides more revenue.

If it's the Cyrodiil location, then I hate to break it to you but there's still a large chunk of Cyrodiil yet to be explored, not to mention that there is a good theory that next year might not just be in Cyrodiil, but also part of Hammerfell. Specifically, Rihad.

I'll hope that it holds some PvP updates but an entire PvP focused chapter would likely be a waste of ZOS's money and they know they wouldn't get many sales out of it.
It'd honestly be nice to see ZOS introduce some form of 1v1v1 setups and 3v3v3 setups where the entire point is just the clear out the other side; then give some sort of leaderboard showing where everyone stands in these to similiar to the battleground leaderboards.
The 3v3v3 setups could require a group queue which would further separate it from the rest of the mechanics atm.

Overall I just think PvP needs an actual "Dueling" queue system because a lot of people seem to love to go to Cyrodiil to find those duels which isn't really the place for it since anyone can jump into any fight, and Battlegrounds have Deathmatch but people respawn during it VS having it so once you die your chance is over.

To be honest, if they were to introduce more PvP anything (which, yes, is long overdue, and I say this as a 95% PvE player), the first thing they would have to introduce would be a HUGE performance upgrade. The lag in Cyrodiil is absolutely insane these days. I think it's to the point it is clear that no bandaids such as removing poor deers from Cyrodiil or lowering population caps slightly can fix it, it's time for either a major codebase rework (which, to be fair, it seems they just might be touching on now, with differences to how AoE is calculated etc) or an equally major infrastructure upgrade.

I suppose if they introduced something smaller teams based the lag would be less but still. Cyrodiil is the heart of ESO PvP and it's really in dire need of some love. Tbh I was quite shocked when I went there during MM - I had taken a 2.5 year break from the game and while I remember Cyrodiil being laggy, I don't remember it being nowhere near THAT laggy, it's like it's gotten literally multiple times worse over the years.

I hope not, every expansion with pvp theme in every game is fail e.g. in wow base on pvp WoD, BFA were fail. In eso - imperial city and almost no one is playing IC if theres no event.

Atm pvp is fine - 1 big open zone, battlegrounds, IC with own currency, available 1v1 in every zone.

What does the data mine stuff say? I played in SWTOR and cant help but be concerned that this will be ESO version of Illum (originally a PVP zone) changing the PVP zone to PVE with the "we tried to fix it, but failed after over a year dedicated to performance improvements. "

I have to agree that ZOS is focused on making money at the current time. With the COVId situation happening, they need to bring in some serious bucks and PVP does not do that for them.

Because it's Empire related? You know the Empire was more than the bit of central Cyrodiil we have in the game right? And considering how unpopular pvp is in this game basing a whole years expansion on it is... doubtful. Though maybe they'll make Q1 something pvp related, or Q3. The dungeon dlcs have always been less popular sellers than the story chapters and dlcs, frankly I do not see ZOS tank their earnings for a year by making Q2 or Q4 pvp.

Why the heck would they focus an entire year of content for the smallest portion of the playerbase? The impact that would have on sales, population...that'd be the equivalent of canceling all events in the year.

I'm not sure the entire thing would be PvP.
Sure players in ESO only know Cyrodiil as a PvP zone, but don't forget The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion took place in Cyrodiil.
Cyrodiil doesn't have to all be PvP. It's actually a HUGE area that hasn't been fully explored here in ESO besides the little we've gotten and the very small segment of Blackwood during the Dark Brotherhood main quest.
It'd be pretty cool to have new PvP and PvE content. Win/Win for everyone

pvp shouldnt even be in this game at all.
pvp in this game would be ok if only letting it be a tacked-on afterthought and NEVER the reason for any balancing and nerfs.

The colovian highlands have not been explored. It could be there as a PvE expansion.

When I saw the datamine my first thought was Oblivion. When I first went into Imperial City I felt that Oblivion vibe, just lacking the epic battles and showdown, why is the boss stuck down in the sewers instead of stomping down whole buildings in the districts!.

Nothing stopping them from layering the same zones. May get a version of Cryodil/IC after the war who knows. Or parts of it with a neighboring zone would be more my guess.

Considering the max amount of players who PvP across the servers, and performance on Grey Host I just don't see a 100% PvP chapter personally. And adding another mixed PvPvE like IC would just spread those small numbers wider.

PVP is a vital aspect of this game. And yes, I mostly PVE. I would love to see a PVP DLC, but more importantly, PVP needs serious performance upgrades. I would trade a year full of DLC for a functioning Cyrodiil.

That's just plain ***. Most veteran players play in PvP regularly and multiple polls in the past showed that about 50% of the forum population plays PvP. Though playing PvP regularly doesn't mean someone mains PvP.


Oh and a PvP DLC is defenitely welcome, but what we need much more is basic game performance if ESO wants to keep its playerbase for the coming years. And yes, this counts for PvE too, but mostly for PvP.

But to followup I do hope Cyrodil gets some love. Even if it was map rework. The castles are very bland with one outer inner layer.
* No moats, or chokepoints outside the outer walls to defend
* No sewers or alternate entrances, no sapper or siege skill tree
* Castles could have unique built in siege /defenses to use (built in oil, tar, flood and drown areas etc)
* Castles need to be made more unique, they are all copy/pasta, some could be more narrow, or flat or vertical, i.e. 5 story forts where flags are at top. etc.

Just feel the castle battles a a lost opportunity.

Imagine this:

A psijic dude tells u about a future threat, and in order to remove it we need to go back in time before the war. So we can explore all of cyrodiil and remove the future threat. And, of course the Arena district in IC will be a brand new PvP mode only, where ppl can gamble on each other 😱

If that is the reason then ZOS isn't really thinking straight.
The reason why only a small % of the players do it frequently enough (which I doubt btw) is because it has been neglected and consistently degraded in quality for years. People don't play PvP anymore because ZOS is not doing enough to improve it. Greymoor is the first time in five years that PvP actually got better than it was the previous patch and it didn't get better to a point when PvP was still good again, it only improved to a point where it wasn't as bad as the patch before.
