You're partly right. It was an event reward where you could unlock different prizes based on the number of people getting the Summerset pathfinder achievement. The villa was the top tier reward.SshadowSscale wrote: »Was not really free.... It was given to players who had bought summerset before a certain date....

where did i say ZOS should give it for free? i asked for option to buy with gold, or to gift it via crown store

This is true. Participation was required. If they started giving it away to those who did not participate then fewer players would start getting into the events like that because they know they will eventually get it anyhow.
I have heard Zos did sell the home during last year's anniversary event but I do not think it was free.

participation in event was NOT required, if I remember correctly. only ownership of summerset by certain date.

Wrong! it was a reward for hitting the highest tier during the summerset community event where as many players as possible had to get the pathfinder achiev on all platforms and servers.

It was a great and cool promotional gift (more please!! lol), but it wasn't free, and I wouldn't worry too much about missing out.

IDK is correct - you just had to log in to qualify. yes it was a reward for filling that meter, but that meter did NOT require every single person to participate and more importantly, if you didn't participate, but owned summerset and logged in during specified period - you got the villa as well EVEN if you haven't gone into summerset the entire time, let alone completed pathfinder.
edited to add. 1. while I think it was a nice thing to do as a community, i'm pretty certain that the way event was set up is that no matter the participation, we would have gotten all the rewards. reminded me a LOT about that one scene in Galaxy quest, where they have to disable the reactor and they make it in with time to spare... except timer keeps going until stopping with 2 seconds on a clock... because that's how it always stopped on the show to add to tension. reminder - that progress meter? was not updated in real time but rather updated manually once a day. so for all we know - they had those screen grabs ready to go before even even started
2. I personaly have no issue with villa coming back in some fashion. make it a crown purchase for a limited time during summerset celebration event if anything. think murkmire. those that did logging in daily - got the DLC added as part of login rewards for that month, no payment required. everyone else has to either buy it, or be subscribed to acess it.
Agree, one tricks is that you can always travel to one of your other houses. I bought snugpod just to port close to the master writ turn in as I port to an guildmate house for master writs.I think they gave it as a promotion since you either have to go through 3 loading screens (leave house, enter college, exit college) to exit or pay to port to a wayshrine. Pretty house, but annoying to use unless they've changed the exit.

You only had to log in if you already had the achievement.

@Ozby
It was never an individual requirement to gain the achievement.
In the post just before you boldly claimed @Linaleah and myself were wrong I had shared the link to the article from the ESO Newsfeed on the event. It clearly states the only requirement was owning the chapter and login into the game by Oct. 7 of that year. Have a look for yourself as I provided real information to back up my comment.
