Lucky Cat & Potentates - Mold remediation or discount!

The walls are disgusting in these homes and very likely deadly. I demand mold remediation OR sell it to me at a major discount.

NO MORE MOLD OR SELL IT FOR GOLD!

I just revisited Potentate's and ... still can't stand the walls. After my long battle with Lakemire Xanmeer Manor I simply can't handle nasty stuff - be it mold, chipped stone, wallpaper or paint falling off the walls. Yeah, right, Potentate's... crumbly walls glamourous much. I won't buy, even at a discount, until the interior looks civil.

Agreed, I've saved a lot of money passing on these dilapidated and crumbling structures that can't be visually upgraded with a very small impact on the already limited number of slots.

I have no idea why their artists feel like detritus is a desirable look. It's certainly unpopular with the players:

No. If i wanted another Psijiic villa, so perfect you're scared of aaaaanything looking too raggedy, I'd get that, I bought potentates cause despite the red wall paint (not a fan of red) it kinda looks like somebody LIVES there

It's not about perfection, I don't think anyone here wants Alinor-smooth house. However, I would rather not have mouldy plaster and chipped paint with my soup...

Agree But i want a home that looks LIVED in, consider it's a house inside a mountain. Of course its gonna have a damp-issue!

I agree - although, I don't see why we have to have mould, even for gold, to be honest.

I'm British - so, I'm used to old houses and quite like a vintage/antique finish, but I tend to draw the line at crumbling/dilapidated/damp.

But, if you bought a ruin, you would then do it up, while (hopefully!) staying faithful to the original style.

You wouldn't just furnish it, complete with mould.

With the only alternative to that being changing the look of it entirely and using a ton of slots to do so.

To be honest, there are a lot of other things I don't like about Potentate's, so I'm not going to lose sleep over it, but still.

^ Yeah, but the issue with doing that is:

a) what if you liked the original style/colour, minus the mould? Your only option would be to change the entire look, rather than just rectifying the problem.

b) the number of slots required to change it entirely.

Maybe either, or both, aren't issues for you, but they would be for many people.

In real life, either a property developer would have bought up these houses, dealt with the issues (hopefully, sympathetically) and then sold them on to you, or you would buy them as is, at a deep discount and then sort out the problems yourself/pay someone else to do it.

Whereas, these houses are:

a) Being sold at full price (and for Crowns only).

b) Are not rectifiable, without (unsympathetically) changing everything about them.

With the latter requiring a huge investment of slots to do so.

By my estimate to cover the mould and chipped paint you would need 60-100 items. This leaves you at 600 slots plus you need to spend 300 - 600k gold (or more if you go for something fancy) just to hide horrible textures in a crown-only house.

Yes.

To be more realistic, they should sell them at a low price (complete with mould etc.) and then allow you to repair/upgrade them, for extra gold/Crowns, if you wanted.

They could let you select "Renovate" and it would show you all the walls with the mould and so on removed and the plaster repainted in the original paint colour (but a fresh coat, obviously) and if you liked it, you could then pay your gold/Crowns and it would stay that way.

Also, if they let you paint plastered walls different colours that would be nice.

They could let you select "Paint" and a colour and then see a preview of a room/the entire house in that colour and if you then paid, it would stay that colour until you changed it.

I am so allergic to "MOLD" so yes I will be passing on that place myself... I mean if we can buy it why can't we have it cleaned

I think we need a choice. Some people like the ancient and abandoned look. Some - like me - want a neat place. I reskinned the walls and floors at Potentate's Retreat (indoors), and most of the Lucky Cat's walls. But it takes slots!

I think the solution brought up by @Tigerseye fits here perfectly. Want some mould and cra!@# paint job - have a discount. Want it neat - pay the full price. Works in real life and, imo, ZOS would sell more houses this way.

The item cap hits hard here - we all have to battle in order to fill the vast notables so they don't look empty as F.

I was talking to my husband about this topic and he said 'well it's Eso, what do you expect. You get a builder in to fix the place up and 5 minutes later he' s off chasing a dolmen'.
I honestly didn't know he role played that much.

If I get this home, which I may at some point because there are aspects of it that I love I will be titivating it allover with the sparkly mooncove vines.

Just be careful, I decided to do so with Lakemire (I absolutely love the aquarium) and here it is... 4 months (or so) and 200+ Tribunal Altars later...

The other thing I can think of is depressing for the home building team. Simply make a path through the house the cuts off everything, walls on either side so you dont see the mold yuck walls, right to the back yard. (by the way, the BOTTOM of the crystal is way more gorgeous than the top, see below). I'm just sad, I wonder what a southern elsweyr mansion restored to former glory would look like...

I looked at Potentate last week and it really looks bad. Very bad.

ZOS has a history of making houses "fixer-uppers", but since we can't, I don't see the point in buying them.

I thought about doing that with Alinor building materials, but there is just so much broken stuff to hide that the majority of the house would look cold and empty with the limited slots. So I passed on that house.
