DARK HEART of skyrim.
We arnt going back to TES5. We arnt gonna be dragon borns and most likely wont see any dragons flying in the skys. Those that cant see past one word in the title are gonna feel really dumb when they give us more info on jan 16th.
Skyrim is my least favorite tes game and I'm super excited about this chapter cause I know the lore and what happened during this time period. Skyrim was a whole different place then what we got in TES5. There is a lot they could give us to be excited about! I cant wait!
They should have waited 1 year so they could make the Skyrim chapter to its 10th birthday.

Link to the trailer. All of you that said it wasn't going to happen can suck it
Cool trailer.
But I do believe the time and resources used to produce those mini movies would be better spent on developing new systems for the game. With it's Champion Point system at a current standstill and much of it's content becoming overly simplified and meaningless for high level progression, the game is starting to stagnate. Flashy graphics is no substitute for involving game play.
Two completely different teams doing those things. The Graphics and Cinematics dudes would have not idea how to program stuff into the game and vice-versa.

I would love this, cause I love both Snow Elf and Falmer (I consider them two different races) but they are a little unknown at this time. I wouldn't be too surprised tho if we run into "goblins" that look like Falmer.

I'm sure that's the case.
But the money - which is likely substantial - being spent on producing those cinematics could be spent elsewhere, no pun intended. It's a poor allocation of resources in my opinion.
You are either underestimating the amount of money they make from people that see that trailer or overestimating how much it takes to make that trailer. Either way, the trailer is going to make the company more money then it took to make.

Nothing wrong with nostalgia when done right, and i have full faith that the dev team can do it. The morriwind expansion wasnt the best, but i think they are able to see what they did wrong with trying to bring back nostalgia with that And in turn take the lessons they’ve learned with chapters elswyr and summerset and combine it with what led them to such great sucess with imperial city and orsinium.... this could lead to an amazing surge in success for ESO.
(Do pardon my lack of proper punctuation, i blame it on the American Public education system)
I thought the trailer meant we would get Skyrim as a new zone, but then I remembered there already is a small part of it. Well, the entire Skyrim maybe? But no, dark Skyrim... wtf does that even mean.
People with more lore knowledge than I, which isn't hard to achieve, might be able to finish my thought here.
There is that "Gloom-something." I don't recall the name. Rigurt sings of it in a song in his quest in Elsweyr. When he's singing to the cat thinking she is the ambassador. He sings of "Gloom-something", and a recent post on data-mining found Gloom-something crown crates as well. Previously they have foreshadowed the next chapter in each one. Maybe Rigurts song was the foreshadowing of what's coming in 2020.
I wish I could remember more, but... Years of boozin it eventually catch up to you.

I smell snow elf motiff incoming.

When viewed objectively, TES V wasn't even good by gameplay standards, it was just massively overrated as the most awaited and ambitious Elder Scrolls game to date by rabid fans. Ironically, the best content of TES V didn't even take place in Skyrim, it was on Solstheim which is part of Morrowind. Not to say I didn't have fun with TES V: Skyrim, but I think it's time to move on and explore something new.
Then again I could be wrong, they may have plans for something completely different, like an explorable, underground zone based on Blackreach, but that would still be heavily Dwemer-based, and we know that at least one dragon - Vulthuryol - may be there. Personally I'm hoping they finally add an actual zone within a plane of Oblivion we haven't been able to explore yet. Exploration factor has been very weak these last few updates, and there's no real rewards or secrets in exploration either.

These cinematics make me want an Elder Scrolls movie.
They also make me really mad that there is not an officially licensed Elder Scrolls tabletop RPG yet. Because I would be running the crap out of that in a heartbeat and drop my current campaign like a hot potato for that...

I get that not everyone is excited to return to Skyrim. But as someone who legitimately loves The Elder Scrolls' lore, the idea of getting to see what Winterhold was like when it was Skyrim's capital is friggin' exciting to me!
Just a tip: lower your expectations or you might get disappointed. We will be getting the rest of Skyrim. Winterhold is north of Windhelm or at least that is, where it should be. Remember, they messed up the map. Anyway, it is unlikely we will get Winterhold, when it is located in eastern Skyrim and the expansion is about western skyrim.
Well last chapter was about nothern elsweyr then we got souther elsweyr

Um, Hammerfell?
they need to save this for last to tie over to the release and story in TES VI - shall we bet?
Why? It was meant to point out that Skyrim isn't the only largely unexplored location on the map. Could have said Black Marsh too as that only have Shadowfen and a small dlc (Murkmire) to show it off. Skyrim has a lot more of itself ingame than that.
And yes Hammerfell could be TESVI. Or Black Marsh could. Or maybe we spend all of our time in VI in Oblivion or timetravelling. Or Akavir for all you or I know.

Skyrim is one of the provinces of Tamriel, and ESO is the first ES game since Arena to encompass most of Tamriel, and hopefully some day all of Tamriel. What was ZOS supposed to do, add the rest of Tamriel to ESO but leave most of Skyrim out so as not to offend the anti-nostalgists? If they were going to add it sooner or later anyway, what difference does it make that they're doing it in 2020?
