What could be worse than limited-time Crown only furnishings found in packs?

That's right! Limited-time Crown GEM only furnishings!!!

:#

I would spend crowns to obtain Crystal Sconce, Green, Emerald Candlefly Gathering, and Shadow Tendril Patch. Instead they make us buy crates with stuff we don't want in hopes we can sell it back for the stuff we want.

Agreed. I'm sure loads of people would buy the Emerald Candlefly Gathering as it is, if it was just in the Crown Store for crowns.

Agreed. Considering 15 crates only gives about 100 gems, that's 5k crowns for each furnishing, not to mention if you want multiuples!

Or as I like to call it, "$50.00"

At the $15.00 crown price (the highest package sold), its a 1:1 ratio to the USD.

I’ve bought Crowns for housing and furnishings, but $50 is far too much for me to spend on a single furnishing and I’m not going to pay any amount on something I can’t buy directly. :/

I just consider $50 it's actually price and decide if I absolutely want that item or not. If I don't want it, I save $50 for the next item I absolutely want.

I don't mind buying things outright with Crowns. It's having to buy Crown Crates that really bothers me.

It's my $50 and I want to allocate it how I see fit - not how nice Pacrooti is that day.

Whether I can buy it directly for $50 or buy enough gems to buy it for $50 makes no difference to me. The journey that my money takes, or that the item has to take in order to get to me is of no consequence. Whether it is crown store, a crate item, an achievement, event vendor item, etc. It's all the same.

Agreed. I really wanted those hostile plants from Murkmire, but no way I would gamble for them or for 100 gems for each one.

I also dislike the furniture placed into crown crates. (so you have to get crates and gamble or use gems to purchase).

I didn't mind the daedric prince statues and the like because usually I only need ONE - so I just use some gems (i think most are only 100 gems), BUT when they start adding things that you can easily use multiples of this system just is losing them profit in my opinion.

I am not a huge fan of crown-only furniture either BUT with the addition of gifting it is accessible to me.

If the Shadow Tendrils were crown furniture tab rather than in a crate I am CERTAIN that ZoS would sell more and profit more because the crate/gem system limits how many we can reasonably obtain (i got one with gems - could probably use more but it just isn't reasonable. If they were from the crown furniture tab instead they are more accessible and I would likely get several and possibly many more in the future as new ideas/builds come up.

TL:DR Furniture players could use multiples of in Crown Crates is a profit LOSS vs selling that furniture in the Crown furniture tab!

I could care less for home furnishings.

I have all the storage chests and a transmuting machine , its all I need, everything else thats sell-able gets sold.

Gotta say Crown GEM furnishings of any kind is really pushing it. Even Crown-only Furnishings are bad enough compared to not having convenient housing storage for the times when you want to just stock but not necessarily use all the time.

Really ZOS, I think you need to make things more convenient for the Housing community and they will actually buy more.

If they want to do Crown or Crown Gem furnishings, then at least make them not-bound and tradeable/guild store saleable. That'll let the Crowns flow just as if a Crown seller gifted them. And people who stock up could attempt to resell them if they change their minds later.

Ugh, yes. I was eyeballing that, especially since I'd like to turn the inside of Grand Psijic Villa into a copy of The Duke's Archives (from Dark Souls; if you're not familiar, it's basically a giant library overtaken by crystal stuff), but I'd need so many of these book stacks. I'm not even going to go there.

Yeah, forcing (or encouraging) people to gamble is never good, anyway.

Then you have the price of these things which is insane.

How can a Candlefly Gathering - which is nice, but basically just floating dots - be worth $10, let alone $50?

I appreciate that some people may just win them, rather than having to buy them with gems - but, on average, only if they have spent quite a few Crowns on crates, to begin with.

They should cost less than the butterflies, which have more detail.

Think the butterflies work out at about $15 (they're about £11), which is about double what they ought to be.

So, these Candleflies should be about $5.

Making them about 10x too expensive.

In other games, you don't even pay that for a fancy mount.

At least the candleflies are now available to be bought directly. Hopefully the tower of books will be as well. I don’t care if things are released first through Crown Crates as long as those of us who dislike that system can eventually buy them too. I hope that more will become available for Crowns, including the Murkmire plants. :)

If all we have to do is wait for new items to be available via the editor tab for crowns then I am on board! I can be patient.

That's up to the individual to decide. People will vote with their dollars. If ZOS didn't think they could make substantial money on it at that price point, they wouldn't sell it for that.

It wouldn't be worth $50 to me, but my opinion, like yours, doesn't really matter to the person who will indeed pay the asking price for it.

I'm not sure many folks who buy stuff in the Crown Store even equate their purchases to real money. One of the reasons for using a script like Crowns is to remove the direct association between their purchase and pocketbook.

You hit the nail on the head with that statement. No different than using chips at a Casino in place of cash. People tend to spend more when it's indirect.

Sure, but Crowns I’m fine with and you can do the conversion easily enough if you want (I’m not arguing with you that many people will not and will spend them more freely).

Gems are another thing entirely. If you want a Crown Gem exclusive, you have to spend until you are lucky or get enough trade-ins, which could make a single item quite expensive (much better deal if you want many of the Crown Crate items). That’s why I won’t touch the latter: I have particular taste and abhor paying for things I don’t want and won’t be able to trade-in or sell. :/

No, but if that is almost nobody, that is known as "price resistance" and that should matter to the ZOS accountants.

Oh but they're missing an opportunity here and I'm sure they will soon add it! Imagine...Gem Exclusive CURRENCY. Perhaps these will be something like Soul Gems. Instead of spending your Gems that you got from crates that you bought with Crowns that you bought with real money on actual items, you can buy a whole new currency (at a very low exchange rate, of course) for even MORE exclusive items!! And then they can institute a new sub-currency INSIDE that currency!! IT COULD GO ON FOREVER!!
