Can we have solo battlegrounds?

The current BGs are made for 4-men teams - small-scale group PvP. But not anyone likes to team up. Especially when the groups are formed randomly and we can get ppl who we don't like or other faction player as our current teammates. Personallym i love solo PvP. I don't consider ppl of my faction as teammates, i even don't res them and never aid when they are fighting. I play for myself. And the only way to play solo atm is IC-ganking, because cyro is allways full of player. But even in IC you can fight and a member or your faction will interfere. Duells are allso a good choice, but they are limited on a 1 vs 1 fight. So it would be nice to make a solo 4 to 20 men BGs where everyone is for himself, a battle royal.

So that the biggest ganker wins? Or what’s the point of a battle mode like that? Classes with stealth and execute capabilities would basically dominate a mode like that because they can pop out of nowhere and finish you off after you’ve either won a tough fight or your fighting at the moment. Something like that works when the participants are fighting with the same rules / skillsets etc but in ESO?

I mean sure we could have some kind of small scale arenas like 1v1 or 2v2 but PvP in ESO is about teamplay. In Cyrodiil it’s about your faction, in Battlegrounds it’s about your team. Why don’t you support your team mates in bgs? I mean not only they benefit by your support, you do to.

To be fair, duels are pointless and very badly integrated into the game. They could make a solo arena like in other games that would capture duels better, with leaderboards etc.

I just hope I never have you as a teammate ever. You can play for yourself while still being a team player. Especially in BGs where the best TEAM wins. Teams that don’t work together or run together in BGs constantly get picked off.

I love the art of collectivist teamplayers who say "no, you have to do teamwork". I don't want to do teamwork. I don't consider you as my teammates. I don't team up with anyone and i don't care about teams and factions at all. I want a content for a solo-player, where everyone is for himself. And teamplayers have to accept that not everyone wants to be part of theis collectivity.

If you’re lucky, you can get into a match that doesn’t have any opposing players. You’ll be standing around at the spawn point while “waiting for players.”

Stick around long enough, and you’ll be the last one there! You’ll have the place all to yourself!!

Very funny. Who will fight agains me then? When you want to team up - you can team up with anyone. But you can't force me to team up.

I would really love 1 v 1 option of battlegrounds! If it existed, I would rarely queue for group BGs But I wouldn't queue for "solo" if it was 1 vs multiple opponents, like you suggest.

In my situation, I don't have anyone with whom I can go to BGs, so I always have to queue solo. Sometimes it's awesome cause my team works together and it feels like we are almost premade, sometimes the team is like everyone on their own and outnumbered.

Because as much fun as you have ganking, your contribution to the overall effectiveness in BGs is minimal.

Now; I do like your idea as I'm sure there are many players with the same mindset. I'd love a way to separate them from the rest of the BG community

That's the point. The groupers will, like now, play in their group BG. Solo players will play in solo BG. And everyone will have their fun.

That's the point. The groupers will, like now, play in their group BG. Solo players will play in solo BG. And everyone will have their fun.

There are... Like 6 really good ideas floating around... All of which hinge on population levels to be implemented.

Nah, duels are not as good as a 1v1 arena would be. The problem with duels is that you have all these jokers with these weird but clever dueling builds that are totally customized to do one thing extremely well. Then these guys go around the big city centers looking for chumps that match their build target. I've seen green food, lopsided CP allocations, cheesy one-trick sets like Meridia's... the list goes on for miles. Because of this, I NEVER accept a duel from a stranger anymore. It's like agreeing to play chess in a shark tank or something, LOL.

The great thing about a proper 1v1 arena would be that players would not know who they were going to fight until it started. Then they would have to actually bring reasonable builds that were designed to work against a broad population of foes!

That is not such a bad idea...
...the question is, should it be done as "battleground", or maybe in a different way?

Like... an daedric "mortal combat!" plane that works like a public dungeon - any number of people can enter, and make their way towards some goal there, capturing flags or digging up treasure (or graves, they Will be needed), or interacting with some dwemer machine or whatnot to open doors towards the pinnacle goal... but its a "free for all" region where everyone can fight anyone and the biggest gankmasters reign supreme... kinda like IC without the alliances...

The difference to BGs would be... no fixed group size, so noone could ever know what to expect. Might be empty and deserted... might be a dozend enemies just waiting to dogpile on each other... or might look empty and deserted but have a dozend nightblades waiting in stealth for the first one to make a move...

There could be various versions too. I'd love to see an "obstacle course" setup for example (including spikeballs!), or a "navigate the MAZE!" complete with traps and a roaming minotaur worldboss to avoid...

I have no idea why they aren’t building up on this, everything is there. They just need an instanced version of this and there you have a new feature that would be awesome.

I usually don’t like 1vs1 or duels but Blade & Soul had a very nice 1vs1 arena and I loved playing that. ESO could integrate something similar and it would be a great addition to the game.

An ESO Battle Royale would be 90% stealthed gankers and 10% “unkillable” tanks, and nobody would have fun.

Lmao. Clearly I’m not your teammate atm I’m just some guy on the forums. And If I was to get matched up and put on a BG team with you would I not be your teammate? That literally made no sense. Hopefully we play on different systems. I don’t mind going solo. I would play solo BGs for sure. Partially because getting matched up with people with your mindset is the worst so I’d rather run solo than deal with that. The worse thing is when you are in BGs and have a *** team that just goes their separate ways. That’s the quickest way to end up at the bottom of the leaderboard. It’s possible to play for yourself while not being a *** teammate
