Been playing for 2 years and it's the first time i hear this! IC and Cyrodiil always gave me anxiety as a support main pve player.

Barf. I hate gating story behind another type of gameplay. Never finished Oricon in SWTOR because it was gated behind raids. I refuse to mix PvE with PvP, especially since I'm not a fan of the combat here. Maybe I'll watch it on Youtube one of these years.

As a mostly-PvE-er I hear my people's pain but I just need to say that I swear it's worth a visit. It's such a unique and intriguing area, very different from anywhere else in the game.

Imperial City was the last gasp of ZOS' dream that players might actually enjoy doing PVE in a PVP zone, and thus it has a good story questline and great characters in the middle of a war zone filled with minibosses, world bosses, and enemy players. Captain Caudex and Captain Regilus are pretty awesome, along with the Drake of Blades.

Needless to say, IC's population issues meant that ZOS hasn't repeated their mistake.

Wait, your telling me, that zos put a storyline quest in pvp area, so that alliance vs alliance vs alliance players cooperate together to do a quest?

When it first came out the mobs were a crap ton harder so i could barely survive in a single district let alone the whole city. I spent a long time ignoring it until finally trying it again post One Tamriel and such. It was kinda neat.

I haven't been to the Imperial City for a couple of years. When I did I was killed by another player while I was fighting numerous daedra.

Did it on one character when IC came out. Just did it on another during the recent PvP event. The IC dailies are not as quick or numerous as Cyrodiil dailies, so did not attract players looking for anniversary boxes. And trolls and gankers had a lot more people to harass in Cyrodiil than IC. So IC was nearly empty and it was a de facto PvE quest.

As an Aussie head in about 8pm in one of the dead campaigns and you'll be unlucky if you see anyone, and if you do often they're not looking for a fight either.

Even though I try I can rarely follow these stories. Everyone says IC wrapped up the original main questline. I didn't get that at all. You helped that lady get into a temple and become the new guardian. There were a lot of daedra trying to stop you. But I always miss the motivating reasons for why any of this is happening.

Nope, and it is quite unlikely that I ever will. The whole zone feels a wasted effort to me. Locking a PvE questline behind PvP? It must have required a true genius to come up with such a stupid idea.

I completed it twice, once when it came out and once quite some time later.
I love the IC story but whenever I go there nowadays it seems that noone is interested in doing it and since I can't complete the temple district part on my own, I haven't been able to complete it on more characters.

I find that it rarely works out well when games mix PvE and PvP elements. Being "ganked" while in the middle of a fight or run over by a zerg ball just isn't my idea of fun. I have better ways to spend my time other than being the evening's entertainment for some.... actually I"ll refrain from finishing this sentence.

I did back when it first released. Story is great. I used to love IC, the NPCs were quite tough, you had to be wary of players and the forlorn devastation of the city really drove home the impact of the planemeld. I used to sneak around as best I could on my dk. I remember being attacked by 3 enemy players and running through a group of NPCs. The players hit the Xivkyn instead of me and I escaped. Joined up with some AD or EP, I don't even remember anymore, to kill the Titan in the temple. Great fun!

Miss the Memorial district fights too.

I would so like to complete it, but without help it is impossible for me to complete the Watcher in the Walls quest, which is the last disctrict quest for me. I actually had out-of-faction help with one of the earlier quests which was very nice, but soloing this arena battle is a tad difficult for my jack-of-all-trades main. Not hunting the meta and owning no BiS sets doesn't exactly help, either xD. And then there are the Tel Var-farmers...

Just not keen on mixing PvE and PvP. If I'm trying to actually get something done I don't want to be having to deal with people killing me at the same time, so I have just ignored IC quests.

It's a great story! Took me ages to do it because of the parts you can't solo. But at the end it really is a great story. Totally didn't expect that when I first picked it up.
