Feedback: What do you guys think of dungeon reward system?

Do you like gear, skill point, and skin, pets, hats rewards?

How do you think Challenger Achievement should be rewarded?

How do you think veteran rewards should be rewarded? Do you like Wrathstone model? With Skin or pet for Vet reward.

Do you like the titles from dungeons? Do you actually use them on characters? If not why not?

Is there enough heavy sacks and chests in dungeons?

I think vet dlc dungeons should have better rewards. It doesn't make sense that doing random daily and getting dlc one, struggling there times longer than vanilla ones with pugs and then get the same xp, transmute crystal etc. Why even do vet and risk getting dlc if normal gives same rewards lol. Same for pledges. Doing dlc ones gives you same as vanilla vet. You can easily pug vanilla pledges and do hm to get 2 keys but try pugging DLC hm. And if for some miracle you manage to finish it you still get same rewards.
I think keeping dlc ones in same queue list is fine, but if one pops, we should get double xp for example, or 3 keys for pledges, more and better drops or something.

man, I hope you're organizing all the information you've collected over the years...

seriously - you probably have a better pulse (although somewhat limited to the scope of forum particpants) to what players are thinking than most, if not all, the folks going to work every day there in cockeysville...

    1. Yes rewards for content are a staple and placed games for a reason no matter how many people say "But just do it for fun". It makes older content still relevant even if gear becomes outdated. Nobody is gonna run "X" dungeon for an outdated "Y" set, but a skin? Hell yeah.

    2. Other <Will explain later>

    3. I do not like the wrathstone model after having completed them. That isn't to say vet completion shouldn't be given a "neat thing". I do however believe that HM/no death/speed run should be more than what it is. A great example is literally from the devs themselves. They wanted personality/skin so a player can wear both from each dungeon to show they have done it both <Opposed to CoS/Mazz both skin rewards>. Now it is a title and literally goes back against what they wanted. I would prefer Skin for vet - Personality for challenger / momento for HM - Normal would get a title. All sides can get something to show off.

    4. Titles are ok, but should be downgraded for a normal completion and more "neat looking" ones for vet/challenger. Yes I do, because it was part of my chars progression.

    5. Yes there is enough "stuff". I wouldn't mind more weird intractable crap. Seats next to obvious setting is a bonus in any dungeon. I wouldn't use it, but its nice that it is there.

wrathstone model is where they changed giving big rewards to simply vet completion over vet challenger completion.

Well, yeah, I got that. Thing is, I'm NOT going to ask three other people to put up with my ping.... So I'm not really going to have an opinion on it. Though I suppose I think changing the payoff at this point is kind of cheesy. Then again, if the dungeons aren't so hard....?

    1) Vet HM DLC pledges should give more keys or crystals. not because they should be "pay to win" or "OH I PAID FOR IT I SHOULD GET MORE" but strictly because the content is literally actually way harder.
    2) heavy sacks and chests are a joke. Even with a map most people run straight past them. I wish there was an easier way, like a perk for the crafting mats to light them up or somehow see them more, also there's so little of them. Vet dungeons should have 2x as many chests if they're still going to be hard to find. I know, i know "i want everything spoon fed to me" but still it's frustrating that chests feel useless in normal mode and un-findable in vet.
    3) i wish there were two tiers of rewards. I think having vet clears having tangible rewards is great, but i do think that not having anything for speedrun+nodeath+HM clears is a mistake.
    4) i wish you could pick monster set weights.

Do you only get 2 crystals from pledges too? I know it says different but I swear it's rigged for 2.

Thing is.... unless you're in a bad place there.... your 9-5 is going to give you a decent retired life. Which is where you get to play games (online, or computer resident, or outside) and just.... chill.

It's where I am. And notwithstanding some denigrating comments elsewhere, I put in the time (dealing with glass ceilings, predatory bosses, and just general ugginess), and I DESERVE my fun. I hope you get there too.

The reqards for vet seem very fair the gap between elite and average vet players is too far making the epic skin and personalities untouchable for most players and many dlc boss helms aren't worth the effort so locking it all behind hardmode just completely kills the joy of the game i like a challenge but the naked no armor dark souls 3 speed run level of bullcrap is a total turn off of dungeon dlcs

Dungeon itemization is probably my biggest pain point with this game, I have a full time and a part time job and only really play when my two friends can get on. We mostly play battlegrounds but all play many alts, and therefore need a lot of gear to spec out our characters the way we want. I use a Caluurion's Legacy ice staff from fang lair on my magicka warden, and my buddy wants to set up the same build to use. I got it a few weeks after release for dragon bones, but for MONTHS we have been grinding normal fang lair for another ice staff for him, mind you, I already have the build set up so i'm not even doing this for myself. We have together dropped over 12 ice staves of ulfnors favor and trappings of invigoration, sometimes getting both of the WRONG ice staff in a single run. People have put forth the idea of a token system and I fully support it, even if it takes 20+ runs to get enough tokens for a weapon its better that the 100+ times we have run it and received exactly nothing. I understand ZoS has to make incentives for making players continue to play their game but the RNG can get absolutely ridiculous. to make matters worse they discontinued the "named drops" from specific bosses that that had in older dungeons. I don't really care what they do to improve it but something needs to be done. when I only have a few spare hours a week why should I have to spend them endlessly chasing after something for 3 whole patches?

How do you think veteran rewards should be rewarded? Do you like Wrathstone model? With Skin or pet for Vet reward.

    Ideal reward structure:
    • Normal: Skill Point
    • Vet: Cosmetic (skin, pet, etc.)
    • Vet HM: Apothecary satchel from the final boss, if it's a DLC dungeon
    • Challenger: Nothing
    • Trifecta: Title
Basically, the current reward model is fine, except that the Challenger and Trifecta rewards need to be swapped and there needs to be a better carrot for people to do HM on a regular basis (motifs are fine, except motifs aren't released until months later).

I like that you get an apothecary satchel from MoS, but I don't like that it's the reward for doing the optional hunts (which are just time-consuming and grindy) rather than the reward for doing HM.

Depends on the title. "Purified Devastator" is pretty cool, and I use it on two characters. "Frozen Treasure Seeker"--for Frostvault Challenger--is harder to get, yet I choose not to use it because it sounds lame. I mean, the imagery that it conjures up is of some failed adventurer's corpse, frozen over. Meh.

But what I really want is a title for the dungeon trifecta. Okay, fine, we got both Wrathstone trifectas despite there being no reward because we enjoyed the challenge and we had fun doing it, but man, it really would be nice if "Relentless Raider" was a title that I could wear. Or "Mountain God". All the trials trifectas grant cool titles--why not dungeon trifectas?

    4. Do you like the titles from dungeons? Do you actually use them on characters? If not why not?

    5. Is there enough heavy sacks and chests in dungeons?

    1. Yes; I especially like that, when you consider alts, you can look forward to a skill point and gear (even if the gear is just to work towards reaching max crafting by deconstructing) if the account-wide reward has already been obtained. Gives you a reason to chase the achievements/completions on alts.
    2. I don't think it needs to be the same for every dungeon. I didn't assume that the change for Wrathstone was permanent since Imperial City Challenger also doesn't have a special reward. Switch it up; keep us guessing; give each new dungeon its special flavor and theme.
    3. I like the skin I received for Wrathstone and receiving it for Vet doesn't keep me from wanting to obtain the other achievements. I like the idea of sometimes giving something for the harder content and sometimes making the reward easier to obtain, leaving the achievement just for bragging rights. The worst part about this is the item you may want the most might be the thing most difficult to achieve for you, personally, but with everyone's tastes being different accommodating that is impossible. Therefore I think just switching up the ways you can get skins or other rewards so everyone has some options is the best way to do things.
    4. Meh. I like unlocking titles, but rarely use them. I think it's because too many titles have to do with the achievement whereas I like titles that can be part of my personality. For example being a vampire is part of my main's identity so I leave on the "Sun's Dusk Reaper" title. Hero of Wrothgar or Standard-Bearer or Peak Scaler? No thanks. I was disappointed that Lord / Lady was tied to housing, for example, since that's a title I would be way more likely to use. It enhances my name. But I can't afford that house.
    5. Haven't thought about it so... I'd say it's mostly fine? I love heavy sacks and if the game were tweaked so more would appear in veteran I might be slightly more inclined to grind for gear in vets as opposed to normals. I also would like to see some mechanism where chests appear more as a reward for certain scenarios (maybe more in Vet or an additional one appearing after HM completion)? After running City of Ash I and II 8 million times to try and get a BSW Inferno Staff, I can safely say that any mechanism that gives me additional chances for weapon drops in dungeon would be a strong motivation.

Allowing gold jewelry as a reward sounds like a fantastic idea now that we have jewelcrafting. Make it rare, but give us a chance for that item we don't have to upgrade or can deconstruct.

I like dyes, pets, mounts, skins, titles, costumes, hats, personalities, and any other costmetics as rewards. I care very little about having any of them as "status symbols" for completion and would prefer that skins aren't ALWAYS locked behind the hardest content. I like the busts and trophies being added as status symbols that can be placed in homes, although the fun of this is slightly impacted by the item limits in homes.

I don't care that much for momentos because once I fill up my quickslots with banker, merchant, potions, and food, I usually only have one or two flex slots, if any (none if I also need PvP items), and that means mementos rarely get used and thus aren't much fun. I'd like them more if there were additional quickslots or a separate wheel for cosmetic items or something but, even so, care should be taken so that pets, instruments, or anything that is "cooler" as repeatable or perpetual be properly built as an emote or a pet vs a memento. That also drives me crazy.

Given the fact that the discrepancy between new and experienced players is large, I wouldn't want to see anything too valuable be added to Hard Mode. Right now I think the balance is correct where most people don't get too upset if they miss a key because the group performance isn't quite there. Adding anything to HM that would cause players to toxically push for a HM completion when most group members would be happy for a regular completion would be a mistake. Besides an achievement reward, anything behind HM should be "nice to have."

Interesting topic... I'll update if I think of anything else.
My #1 wish for ESO Today: Decouple achievements from character progress and tracking.

The only thing i don't like it's the random box the DLC dungeons reward completing the quest, I'd prefer something in line of Lord Warden shield, unique items (even armour pieces).
And I'd like to see unique drops from bosses come back too, something to incomporate in a build a remember a specific boss.

So why is the skin and pet awarded for just completing a normal vet dungeon? It should at least be hard mode, but not even that

I wish the motifs would drop on all bosses not just the last one, not saying I want 4/5 motifs each run, but a chance for it to drop would be cool,

...just abit if a downer you have gone through the whole dungeon, done hard mode and then nothing.
