They need to implement a token system for arena weapons so we can just buy what we want

Gina said yesterday that they are looking to update arena weapons (both DSA and MA), so perhaps we'll get a perfected and non-perfected version soon. The non-perfected would drop from normal probably.

    Rather buff Khajiit.

Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

oof they really need to buff normal then. I did see they were looking at updating them in the Class Reps notes but I really hope that's not the update. normal MA is so easy you can go through it at level 20.
Since everyone seems to be doing this,

Speaking of learning, how do you avoid the frost giant from busting the platforms? Trolls are easy just interrupt.

You dont. When she turns red get off and move to next. The trick is to start on the platform with sigil of haste. If u have to go kill a troll come back to this platform. She will turn red move to sigil of healing next. Same if u have to move off to get troll and orr archers just come back so this is the next platform she breaks. Last platform grab remaining sigil and just focus boss drop ulti and just hammer down.

My solution.... Nerf veteran Maelstrom Arena (maybe give bosses only half the hp they have now or give players who dont have a maelstrom weapon equiped a 20k dps buff) or make the weapons drop on normal Maelstrom Arena. So that we "noobs" also can get them.

Spare a thought for us healer builds, will never get a chance to complete VMA as we are, I always have to keep my attitubes/CP/Skills on Healing for when I'm needed for Trials/Dungeons at a moments notice

There needs to be a function to that you can swap all gear, CP's and skills at the push of one button, so I can gather a DPS set and have that ready for when I want to run solo content, swapping back and forward is too time consuming.

Beat it with a 16k tanky DPS. It's doable. It's learning rotations and mechanics and spawns of the arenas.

SPC Julianos Mighty Chudan worked super well for me. Only mildly changed CP and swapped mundus, and it’s still good for healing.

I was in your boat for a long time, I was stuck at stage 5. Eventually i found the flow to the fight on the last boss. Don’t rush her. Take your time right before she hits 75% check to see if there are any adds and fight them. I start at the island with the wing and before she jumps I grab the wing and run to the one with the healing and take that while ranging the adds down and dropping aoes before the boss. Once the adds are down depending on how confortable I feel I grab the healing Before dpsing again. Once the adds spawn in and she’s going to do her jump I run and grab the sigil (shield) and damage while sowing the adds and single targeting the boss.

The next stage is the next learning curve. You will have to keep an eye out for the hoarvers which don’t go after you until you attack. Them first. Drag them to the totems and kill them there. When you get a notice to find a totem go there or the mini spiders will kill you. Round 2 you start getting web spinners, kill those or they put web on the totem making it back to the start. What I find, the round before the last boss, I get all but one totem uncovered and when the two Lurchers are killed on that round, I wait for a hoarver to appear and bring it to the last webbed totem and the last round starts. I kill the bug and the boss is stunnned for a good time allowing you to get a good burn. Once she comes back kill the hoarvers on the totems again, kill mini spider boss copy and focus on boss while keeping an eye out for adds. She has an enrage mechanic so she has to go down fast.

The next stage is the poison stage. You have to avoid the poison plants which will pop up often and explode. If it is on you, you have to run to the pool to cleanse (you only get two). Archers are the first thing here get them down then focus on other adds. When screen turns green look for the poison caller (on the four pads in the corner) I usually take a look every so often and the pads and if I see a portal spawn on one I run over and drop aoes on them and kill her fast. Last boss you’d want to dps him until the menders spawn in kill one then run to the other. She will drop a shield while the boss roars. Don’t interpret him. When he finishes roaring kill add and work on boss while keeping eyes out for the poisoncallers.

The next stage is another dps race at last boss. But some adds are priority. It’s the one that starts with a k. It will do a flame caller they can’t be reflected so it has to be interrupted and killed. Last boss I focus on two totems then get the other low without killling it and wait for adds. I kill those (the K one) and the atros before killing the totem and dropping ulti on the boss who is now stunned for a bit. If you don’t get her down in three tries she will summon a wall of fire that will kill you unless you are cap in resistances.

The last round last boss was another stage I got stuck at for the longest time until I found a flow that worked for me. Throughout the fight gold ghosts will appear. Grab them before the other adds do. When you get three use the syngery when the deadroth is out and kill it. The deadroths will breath fire on you and put a dot until killed. Watch out for archers. Starting round 3 adds will appear at the very edge of the arena and walk slowly to the middle, those are summoners kill them quickly before they reach the middle. Last round is also a learning curve but easy once you get the hang of it. Start by laying your dots in the middle. when he spawns, drop your ulti. he will charge up a heavy after a few seconds, block or dodge roll out. He will teleport and start a channel. Interupt and focus him. Until 75 when he goes up. If he ports before that he will summon a deadroth kill it quickly. When he is upstairs a clanfear will spawn, bring it to the flowing pad and kill it there. Go upstairs (drop a inmoveible pot) drop aoes on crystals and focus one until the shield spawns. If it’s on the other side go counter clockwise to it, it’s faster that way working on the other nearby crystal until shield goes away. Try killing one of the damaged crystals before next shield. When he spawns it, jump down grab the healing sigil and kill the deadroth. Go back up by killing Clanfear on the pad and drop dots on the crystal you started previously. Drop ulti if you have it and move to the other crystal while single targeting that one. Look for the rotating shield and do the same thing as the previous attempt. If you get them both down then jump down and grab the Wing, shield and damage. Don’t interupt the boss this time, his attacks will be reflected back. Kill the summoners grab the ghosts before they reach the boss. When you get 3 ghosts explode and go ham on him.

If you can only get one down before taking too much damage jump down and get the Wing and repeat the killing deadroth and clanfear. Kill last crystal then repeat above minus the Wing sigil since it’s already used.

In short I’ve done it in heavy armor on Stam, fortified brass medium on Stam with tanky monster sets for tries at flawless. Not your traditional set ups.

My biggest suggestion is take your time learn the spawn points, learn your mechanics. We all started out this way. I’ve seen people clear it with no gear and no cp but the broom and bucket.

If you're on PC there are addons for that. If you're not it is a pain, but I know a healer friend who used a thrown together build on her healer to clear vMA. Had at most 15k dps and it took a long time but she ended up beating it a few times with that build.

If you're not good enough to finish it, you are certainly not good enough to benefit from it. For both the staff and the bow you need to have good LA weaving abilities to make it worth slotting over a 5p set weapon.

You don't need a VMA weapon for good DPS. I have yet to run a build using a VMA weapon or a Master's Weapon or Asylum or...you get the picture. Yeah, I guess I could but my builds are simple and involve crafted, overland and dungeon drop sets with the Monster set of my choice at the moment.

VMA to me is like figuring out how to solo a tough Undaunted type dungeon. Just takes time and once you get it done you will be like..."What? That wasn't so bad." Then you will run it over and over to get a better score and then start looking for tougher content to beat.

Nerf it? Nah, it's in a good spot now.

I completed it the first at 470cp with 3 agility, 5 hundings rage, 1 piece bloodspawn, 1 piece kena and night's silence weapons.

I completed it on the NA with 187 CP, 5 hundings, 5 spriggans, lekis weapons. No monster set or nothing.

I've even done it in heavy armour using 7th legion.

So you notion of needing the best gear is wrong OP.

It has been suggested Zos make a "perfect" vMA weapon and offer the current one on normal.

Zos seems to be considering this idea, or something similar, as they have commented they understand the current special weapons are not really performing all that great. It has also been attributed to a class rep that Zos has been considering the idea as they want to revamp the content in some manner before changing the weapons. iirc, it was to create a new level or difficulty.

However, vMA has been nerfed overtime by means that we have been buffed heavily by the power creep. This has made vMA significantly easier. vMA weapons has also been nerfed by means that all 2H weapons now get 2 set bonuses. While I agree with the idea of offering a perfect vMA (and master weapon) with the current ones being offered in normal, what OP is asking does seem to smell of entitlement.

The only people who ask VMA to be nerfed are the ones who aren't good enough to complete it. It's been completed with no-death on every single class and there is even a video of someone beating it with no skills slotted and using just a bow.

If you can't successfully clear it, it means the fault lies with you as a player and you need to improve upon your skills and further build your character before attempting it.

People who complete VMA don't ask for it to be nerfed. They feel accomplished and proud. Only scrubs who've been getting carried by their teams in content and can't deal with mechanics on their own ask for Maelstrom to be nerfed.

Not to derail the thread, but that question comes down to a debate on evolution vs creationism. If you believe in creation, you believe the chicken came first. If you believe in evolution, the egg came first, and it was laid by something not quite a chicken by today's standards.

As it applies to this topic, the arena ALWAYS comes before the weapon. Nobody cleared VMA the first time with a VMA weapon (or in some cases, 50-100+times without a useful weapon) unless there is some serious cheating going on.
