Challenger Achievements

Hi there, I would like to ask why it is that the Skin and Pet are not unlocked through the challenger achievements for the two new dungeons. I personally really enjoyed the challenge of having to do hard mode, speed, and no death, for each of veteran dlc dungeons, as each one was rather unique, and when you did get the skin/personality it seemed like a real reward. I can't help but feel like getting it from just veteran seems more like a consolation prize, rather than an actual reward. So all I ask, is what was the reasoning behind this decision? And will it be kept this way in the future?

Veteran is usually pretty trivial without no death or HM so I fully support changing this to challenger achievements.

It's always been the case on the PTS that they get rewarded for only Vet. On the live the rewards always go under Challanger achivements. Don't worry.

No it wasn't, read all the patch notes for previous dungeons. Dev has also commented on this in the other thread, for Wrathstone it will be rewarded for only one vet run.

And that's good actually as more player will enjoy content for what they pay money and there will be less skin sellers around.

skin selling was basically the only replayability most end game content had. but I think giving cosmetics to vet is a net good, cuz it'll get more people to want to improve and clear vet dlc dungeons

Not only titles, motif pages too when style released.

If your reason for running hm/speed/no death was to get the skin - hey one less thing to do.
If it was for the satisfaction of completing hard content - you still got that, the hardest content yet according to many and a title to show that off.
If it was to make gold - you have very pricey and fancy looking motifs to sell. (Even though FV looks ugly as Oblivion.)
The only remaining reason to want skins behind achievements is you want to have something cool that others don't. Which is a toxic attitude to have as a person and not profitable for a mainstream game that wants to sell dlc.
Overall great move, my magplar looks forward to Meridia's embrace and I'll finally have a skin that doesn't turn me into an icicle.

I am fine with it. As long as they don't go back and remove the reward for old dungeons it doesn't bother me.

I mean have you SEEN the skin for wolf hunter? As long as we get something I am ok with it. A title is just fine for me. I would love a mount if you completed both challengers but we all know that won't happen

With every new dungeon DLC they are increasing the gap between vet and HM. On this one, the hard modes are basically in trial difficulty (at least on Frostvault, don't know other yet). Which is a very good idea imo. Vet is doable for many people while HM is only for true hardcorers.

I believe they aim these rewards to be available to more people, that's why they changed it. And it's a good thing, can bring more interest into these dungeons. HM will still reward titles and motifs.

I hope they go back and retroactively do this to the other DLC dungeons.

I think they should have awarded them for completing hard mode at least. Not punishingly difficult, but not a cakewalk either.

As someone who has every Challenger: I'm okay with the cosmetics being more widely available and no longer requiring Challenger.

The other thing to keep in mind is that these dungeons have gotten progressively harder. Okay, not vDoM--that dungeon hasn't got "content power creep". But vFV is by far the hardest vet dungeon to date. Whereas earlier dungeons might have one or two "PUG killer" bosses, I'd say that at least three of vFV's bosses can be called "PUG killers".

And then there's vFV's hard mode, which I have written quite a bit about in the Frostvault feedback thread. The short of it is that this HM's difficulty is more like that of a vet DLC trial than a vet DLC dungeon--we spent more time getting our vFV HM clear on the PTS than we spent clearing vBlackrose on the PTS. Given vFV's difficulty in general and vFV HM's difficulty in particular, it absolutely makes sense that vFV's collectible requires only vet.

(vDoM, on the other hand, is surprisingly easy, esp. when compared to its companion dungeon.)

That is incorrect. The cosmetic collectibles have always been rewarded for Challenger for all dungeons prior to this PTS, on both the PTS and Live servers.
