Calling Elitists Out

I'm sorry but your cookie cutter builds aren't impressive. So don't talk elitism to me when half of you have no idea "why" the cookie cutter builds work in the first place. Yes, non-meta builds can hit just as high numbers and in some cases higher, so quit quoting Alcast like he's the one true god of DPS and act like a respectable human being for once. Open minds are richer and have more fun!

No need for the sarcasm though. But when people call out players that make information available to newbies and underperforming veterans, I can’t understand it. How dare he try to help, share information, and make the player base better

I agree. No reason to make snide remarks toward him for helping. He puts a lot of effort into his content (as do many others), and many people find it very helpful.

50k? Is that supposed to be top tier? Gimme a break, that’s decent in this day and age.

Well, i am lucky if I reach 20k dps in dungeons (single target). And even then my hand hurts of barswapping and animation cancelling. Thankfully there are many groups that play for fun and mechanics which i can join.
And else i just solo the dungeons if i need some keys if they don't require group activities.

The College of Illusion hides me and fuddles or pacifies my opponents. The College of Mysticism detects my object, reflects and dispels enemy spells, and makes good my escape. The key to a nightblade's success is avoidance, by spell or by stealth; with these skills, all things are possible."

Hmm...you come across as every bit as 'Elitist' as the very players you are having a pop at.

Not so much 'calling them out' as 'inviting them over to have beers and swap noob stories'. ;)

It seems to be a little bit of elitism to put down others and pat yourself on the back for your 50k dps.

Not putting them down for their numbers, only their attitude towards doing things differently for the same result

You may hit just as hard on a 3mil, but how do you hit in an optimised group with raid buffs? Usually the meta is derived off what performs best in raid over longer duration fights.
Elitist isnt derogatory, if someone farms the best gear and strives for themselves and their group to perform better, then thats not a bad thing at all.
I think your problem is with arrogant people.

60K is the norm guys and girls

60 with bubbles and pokes, I agree

Both of you made recent posts to try and big note youself. Most of us elitists see your numbers and your arguments as mediocre at best.

    Edit:
If you ever call out our God Emporer Alcast again you better be ready for a knock on the door and a prebuffed static rotation to the face.

I think you're getting a bit of stick here because you didn't explain the reason or cause for your rant?

I too don't do meta (sometimes I do out of curiosity) but I'm not raging at those that do. People can see my damage is good so I don't get any complaints for not using meta builds. What happened to you that began this rant?

Elitists tend to be the 'mid-range' players imo that chase meta.

Elitism isnt just about "how hard you hit", whether its 30/40/50k etc. its about how you act.

what makes an individual 'elitist' is a pathalogic need to
    a) boast about it
    b) belittle others - primarily because they hit much less hard
    c) deliberately disclude people from their little clicky groups
    d) show an unwilingness to teach/learn

i know amazingly lovely players that hit in excess of 60k (some pushing 70+) - but id never decribe them as elitist just because their chars hit hard - they are "elite" players - not "elitist" - there is an important difference.

fwiw on the other 2 points
    1) having 60k dps char is great. but if they're a dead dps - theyre doing 0 - as is the person picking them up
    2) alcast is a good yardstick, there are better theorycrafters out there though - but thats a matter of opinion

I get calling someone out when they are running a heavy armour DPS build in PvE or a hybrid build, or some other nonsense that results in like <15k DPS. But anything else is fine is fine. Most sets are within 1-2% of each other in damage.

Alcast builds are a great way for learning basic good builds, and from there adjust for your own playstyle

example, I never used Zaan in my build on my mag sorc, simply because im not a melee magicka sorc player, I choose sorc because I like ranged gameplay, where skoria/ilambris is fitting that playstyle more, yeah in some trial aspect I slot on Zaan, if its possible to stack on boss and the dps of Zaan wont get broken because of movement.

On a side note, many of these 60k-70k dummy dps test you guys are seeing, are fake (cheesed)

    1. look at what mundus stone they use, many use a different one on dummy then in real (the one that lowers spell penetration)

    2. look at what food they use, many use lets say you magicka user, use max mag, max mag recovery, food is called somthing with Eye in it, what you dont see there is their actual health is only 10k when they practice on a dummy

    3. they put their champion points in a way so they work better on a dummy then in real fights, like putting tons of cp into getting higher light attack damage, some test have 12-15k dps on just light attacks

    4. some people have another player in the group, you cant see, that provides static buffs, like wormcult, that gives extra mag to their stats, and gives an extra +1k dps

    5. and many other ways to cheese the results
