I remember back way back when there were "Plump worms" they were not for fishing but some disgusting sounding old recipes...Those worms were worthless.......and always left in empty jute nodes

Yeah I find it annoying if people leave partially looted stuff. I still typically take it because it will annoy anyone. I remember following someone that did that and had a stern talking to them to take everything.

Honestly I can understand why those that do leave stuff do that, crafting stuffs take up so much space.

It's worth noting that there are people regularly asking to buy stacks of worms in summerset. So not entirely a bad thing.

    Maybe.

Maybe taking away the option to leave rubbish behind would be the solution.

Maybe not playing would be the solution.

Maybe (uses words that would get another YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED! message) would be the solution.

I agree it is very annoying if people do not fully farm a node. Also because it will not respawn as long as there is something in it.

And for those complaining that it takes time: just turn on Auto Loot. Extremely handy and faster than even picking one item from the list.

So you can find those worms that you can use when you will go for your Master Angler or you can find absolutely nothing in this spot. I'd rather take the worms.

I autoloot resource nodes because I have ESO+ and it really does not matter to me. I can understand why someone without ESO+ would keep those crawlers in the plant. I will keep junk in the chests because when I'm farming and only have 50-60 slots in my inventory I'm not interested in going back to town to sell every 20 minutes. Deal with it.

And it does not matter if something was left in the node or not. Once it was opened the respawn timer starts

Even more annoying are players that "sample" a node without taking anything from it, but set it's level then move on. I can't even count the number of times I got to a node displayed as Rubedite or Ruby Ash, harvested it then found myself with some useless intermediate level raw material. Why the xuth do they do that?

But setting nodes and chests to DESPAWN a couple minutes after they have been opened might take 10 minutes out of some coder's day man. How can you possibly justify that JUST to stop ticking off thousands of players?

Unfortunately some people are just jerks, and ESO+ won't change that... :/ During few free ESO+ events, when literally every player had craft bag, I still encountered half-looted nodes and chests with only style stones in them :o

They do despawn 5 minutes after they were opened. Of course you are the one to judge if 5 is "a couple".

Ummm... NO, they don't. Not if there is anything left inside them. Which is what's under discussion here. If they DO... I'd love for a dev to confirm that. Because after 4 years in this game that would be the first I've heard of it.

So many people believe this and it's just outright wrong.
The respawn timer for nodes and chests starts as soon as they're opened and does not take any longer to respawn whether or not it is completely looted or has items left in.

Yes, they do. And it was even confirmed by the devs at one point. Reset timer activates once the node is opened, even if nothing was taken from it.

If that's true, and it absolutely may be, then clearly the respawner needs to happen within seconds rather than 5 minutes. Because never during one of my harvest runs do I NOT find chests and nodes that have only been partially looted. It's prevalent enough that enough people find it a CONSTANT irritant. And that simply shouldn't be the case.

When will people stop spreading this lie?

That's not how the respawn timer works. It starts when the node (or chest) is opened not when it's empty. This has been confirmed by the devs multiple times, and you can test it out yourself by finding an out of the way one, partially looting it, and sitting to wait for it to despawn and respawn. The amount of time it takes will vary depending on the zone population & some other factors, but whether the node is fully looted or partially looted makes no difference.
