Did I misunderstand this or have other people?
"should you make any ESO purchase via the Games on Twitch store and have a linked ESO account, you'll receive a free Twitch Crate."
My understanding is, you only get rewards if you purchase ESO stuff through Twitch, not just for logging onto Twitch and viewing ESO content.
Seems like some people have interpreted this as, "watch ESO stuff on Twitch and get free crown crates."

Yea I kept reading...DaveMoeDee wrote: »You are wrong. You get free crates from watching. You ALSO get crates for buying stuff through Twitch.
It is entertaining to see how people overreact to this. This is a promotional that takes negligible resources to set up, will have zero impact on people who just go about their business as usually, and will attract more players and keep them involved. It is something Bethesda is move towards for ALL their games. This is not some desperate move by ZOS. It is a larger plan across Bethesda.

The best way to build a community is to grow viewership long term and establish a stronger base to illicit more purchases from a greater number of people. If people are given a carrot that encourages longer term commitment to a game its a better chance to have a long term player instead of a casual passerby that stays for a month then moves on.

Also I guess ZoS and other companies that pull this think that everyone in the entire world has free bandwith and cell phone unlimited service?
What? I'm all for railing against the gambling machine, but this? I'm sorry, but nothing about this presents as "wrong" to me, and I have relatively high standards. I hate the pricing of the crates and the lack of cosmetic additions to the game in lieu of ones to the shop. I really do, and I hate the "apex mount" concept even more.
This though? Definitely not some crazy "korean MMO move."
All it is is an enticement to get people who play ESO to then watch ESO. If ESO streamers get more views, it may attract additional players that way. I fail to see the great harm you seem to be announcing here. Other than that, it is at worst a free addition to things that people likely would have purchased either way. Even if they buy for the crates, at least they're actually buying something.

Why are you so negative with all this? If you dont want any of the free stuff or to support streamers, dont be involved. Ill be more than happy to help the game on twitch and the streamers Ive build friendships with.

Blizzard does just fine with simple click date to date rewards on twitch, they know not everyone runs twitch all the time
This must be because many of the top ESO streamers left for other more popular games.

And why does them not doing exactly what Blizzard does make them guilty of a "Korean MMO move"? I can agree that daily "click to obtain" rewards would be nice, but they don't exactly incentivize people to actually watch the streamers. Given that this is clearly a decent, unobtrusive way to advertise the game, not incentivizing people to watch defeats the purpose.

Just saying it would have been much better to just leave it as a date to date reward system like Blizzard and other companies do

Youre talking about a company that already has an astronomically large viewer base for their game versus ONE game thats presence on Twitch has only been goin down since the games release. Build a bigger base then they can add in one click rewards. Its how you properly market.

Well I might have pushed it to far by saying that but it just seems like the same basic concept on how Korean MMO's operate where you have to be logged in 24/7 to be able to accomplish anything.

I get what you're trying to say, but I still don't agree that it is the same concept. Having twitch run in the background to gain optional cosmetic rewards isn't exactly "required to accomplish anything." It really just generates an incentive to add viewers to twitch streams. There is literally no need to be logged on 24/7, either to twitch or to ESO. This doesn't change that.

True, but still sucks if you wanted some extra freebies which you know you'll end up having to spend your bandwith or phone service for
