@GreenhaloX Send a note to Customer Support (ASAP) for whatever store you bought from. They might refund you part of what you spent.

None of my friends and majority of guildmates in some of the largest PC/NA guilds will touch Crowns unless they go 40% off or more.

Spent $225 on crowns last sale (50% off). Won't spend a dime for 20% off. Crown stuff already too expensive, not enough gems from Crown crates, etc, etc.

One has to consider that ZOS and Bethesda are not looking for people to stock up on Crowns right now. A 20% sales encourages a certain segment of the players to buy now, figuring that this is as good as it is gong to get, or even good enough. It is not enough to encourage everyone to buy, and they don't want everyone to buy. Why? Because lots of players were probably still buying at full price, and player Crown inventories might still be high from the last sale. They just need a little sale to nudge the fence sitters, and it sounds like it is probably working.
One thing to keep in mind... They know what is coming, and they know what they want to sell them for. This might be the last Crown sale before that stuff hits the Crown Store.

Youd be surprised at the sort of level of stupidity that gets green-lit at a corporate level. Mostly because someone just NEEDS to have it on their resume that they did x,y, and z. Guaranteed someone in Marketing thought 40% or 50% sales were just too good for customers and not good enough for ZOS. So they either convinced their boss, or they being the boss made the decision to draw the sales back in hopes that people would still buy in. Hoping that players would still jump at the sale and ZOS would be able to strut to the bank with more money than the last sale.
