It’s supposed to be an elder scrolls game. Wander around, enjoy the beauty and farm some. This isn’t anything like that and the bots are going to leave most of us out of the process.

For those talking about people wanting to have things handed to them, I’d like a relaxing crafting experience handed to me. I’d like competitive flower picking to be written out of the game. This is paid entertainment, not an unpaid internship.

    i 100% agree with this...

i also Love when people say OMG naaaaabs want their Instant gratification noooob......
Instant gratification is the Point of Playing a game.... AND THATS WHY WE ARE PAYING FOR IT !!!
NOT to have a 2nd job of Mindkilling farming in a virtual game jesus....

Right now we are paying 30+ Euro to.... Mindlessly farm and kill our Brain cells while we Race for Nodes for Months for some rings.... WHAT A DEAL !!! i Get a bit expensive REAL ring FASTER by Working irl.....

EVERY SINGLE info i get from summerset makes me not want to buy it....

See, I use to wander around picking flowers for hours for fun in TES IV: Oblivion...

So I love farming reagents to sell in this game.

if it take 800 to upgrade, then most likely they wouldn't sale very well. since most people can't afford such thing. i mean think about it, upgrade an elite gear to gold require 8 gold material, which is why gold material are sort after by most people. but it take 800 gold material to upgrade one piece of gear.. i doubt many people would even consider getting them..

if you like grinding, you may.. but just know that if it require too much you wouldn't be able to sale much as most people wouldn't bother with it. it is so much easier to just do trial and farm gold jewelry directly.

Besides, my point was that I liked farming even when I didn't get much in-game gold for it. I find farming in ESO to be extremely relaxing and its one of the reasons Ive stuck with ESO for this long. To each their own.

I can't remember now - but, i think it took me about 15 months or so to max the blacksmithing, clothing, and woodworking lines...

enchanting took a few months longer...

the crafted sets I use are the six trait sets...using a ring crafter and another necklace crafter i'm hoping to be able to craft some epic jewelry by the end of june (on console)...

fortunately I don't really mind farming resource nodes...we'll see though how things actually end up turning out...

The JC system is so much of a grind, I'm already considering buying a couple bot accounts to work for me.

If I have to put so much effort into a system that is suppose to be game, that it feels like more than a full time job. I might as well just go out and get another damn full time job! At least then, I'm gaining a monetary amount equal to my actual effort put into it!

If you really need 80, and not 8 stones to upgrade from purple to gold, this is ridicolously insane.

If the gold tempers drop as often as with refinement, then it's already a rare enough drop.

Moreover, only a small proportion of the population is able to complete Veteran Trials to drop yellow jewelry they might deconstruct for the materials.

This number is further reduced by the fact that only people with Summerset can decon.

Basically, you don't have more materials in the market than with other crafts, you have even less and you need ten time the materials to upgrade one ring.

    It's insane.

If it's the same as nirn it's just a pointless exercise for the majority of the player base

4 years playing and I'm have only 5 light armour and 2 weapons researched with nirn and I've only got 3 nirn in my craft bag

The problem is too many restrictions on things ... Nirn should be found in cyrodil as well as craglorn

PvP players get screwed all the time ... Not all of us can invest hours a day on multiple characters

I know we're all focusing on the gold tempers but just so it doesn't get lost in the shuffle for those who don't know, it's 10X the amount at each step: white to green, green to blue, blue to purple.

Also the stones required to make what you're crafting infused or robust, etc., are equally grindy.

Improving a purple or blue drop is bad enough but just wait til you want to craft that infused or Triune Julianos jewelry and improve it to purple or gold.

you could always farm as much as you like, regardless of how many are required to upgrade.. hmm 80 is still kinda way too much for me to handle.. at least i wouldn't bother if it require 80 gold mat to do one upgrade.

edit: a full set of armor take 56 gold mat.. one piece of jewelry cost 80? and 240 for full set??? that sound insane to me.. not too much different from 800, since i can afford neither. and it seem to be too much effort too little pay out.

Not a threat, just how i feel, i go through periods where i get tired of the game and have to take a break, last time it was after they introduced housing, i didnt like that they did it instead of other things. I eventually come back, but i get cranky and tired of the grind, but after a few months off i start to get the itch again and normally by that time what i disliked is normally fixed.
The patch notes today says they increased the seams in game, so they are listening, most likely not to me, but to everyone whos upset. Honestly i miggt just need a break again, because this is just a game, and no reason to stress or get upset.

So they've finally come up with a profession that takes some real effort and time to master? Thank the gods for that!

MMOs are meant to be played for years, not weeks or even months, so why people don't understand the need to stretch skill mastering out over a long period of time is something I've never understood. Not that everyone expects to have completed new content before the end of early access, but plenty do. Just look at the number of players who genuinely expected to be able to deconstruct all their stockpiled pre-Summerset jewelry, for example.

You make an important point at the end there. If you're getting that stressed out over a change in a game, and you consider what should be a bit of entertainment to be a grind, then your life balance is all over the place, and a break is certainly going to help get things in perspective.

It's REALLY grindy. I wish people would understand that grinding is like Salt. A little bit is just fine, and actually probably a good thing. A lot can become toxic. I think the biggest mistake they are making is the extra layer of ten we need for all mats. I get it, they dont want people making gold rings on day 1 (it wont work). Perfectly reasonable, but i thought the idea behind jewelry crafting was to give players more build flexibility and perhaps mitigate some of the harder jewelry grinds in the game or at least give players more options.

In it's current form, jewelry crafting wont accomplish that. For example, it's eaiser to farm VO jewelry from a HM vet trial than to craft a reasonable replacement. Far easier. To continue this thought process, you need 80 gold mats to upgrade 1 piece of jewelry from purple to gold. Current Decon rates results in about a 50/50 chance of getting a gold mat. At that rate, you would need 480 pieces of gold jewerly to decon enough to upgrade one set, that is 240 vet HM trial runs. Even if the drop is guaranteed, you are still talking about 120 Trial runs to upgrade a set. I love me some trials, but that is frankly ridiculous.

The result will be as follows: People with crap tons of gold are going to buy up all the resources to power level their crafting and to be able to upgrade jewelry. There are PTS reports that a you can get to 50 with about 3 million gold by simply buying cheap stuff from the mages guild. People are going to be camping nodes across the map (remember nirncrux at launch)? People are going to power research traits with CS scrolls, and on day one, there are going to be Gold Rings of Mechanical Acuity for Millions and Millions of gold for sale in the vendor, and your average player is going to be upset (rightfully so).

To me, this is mostly an annoyance. I dont have the 50 million sitting in my bank were dropping 10-15 on day one wouldnt phase me, and I already have gold jewelry of most sets I would want. Sure I would like a set of MA jewelry for PVE and maybe a set of Shacklebraker jewelry for PVE, but I can certainly work around that without too much trouble. Other than trait change, I dont see myself using it all that much. As to the traits, other than tri-stat in PVP and bloodthirsty (assuming it survives all the nerfs) in PVE, most of them are garbage. Considering I can get bloodthristy from PVP dailys and Tri-stat from doing the main quest, that part wont be to bad, and you dont need the mats to change traits, just transmute crystals. I have a few purple sets I would like to make gold, but the difference between gold and purple jewelry is VERY minimal. I will likely sell any upgrade mats I get for the first 3-6 months anyway, just fueling the original problem.

Does anyone think the current crafting system is fine the way it is. What if ZOS announced that from now on, all the nodes in the world would give "rubedite dust" instead of "rubedite ore" combining 10 rubidite dusts will give you one ore, 10 ores for some refined bars.

All you people saying that jewelry crafting is fine with 10x extra grind should be advocating it for all crafting lines. Leveling up enchanting should take longer right?

    Lets extend this analogy further.

When you deconstruct a piece of divines gear, you get a change to get a sapphire. You can then use that sapphire to make another pair of divines gear.

But what if instead of getting a sapphire, you got "sapphire dust" now you have to have an extra inventory slot to hold all your sapphire dust until you can refine 10 of them for one sapphire. So, assuming a 100% chance, you could have to deconstruct 10 gear pcs to get enough dust for one sapphire, but realistically you would be deconstructing about 15. For ONE trait stone.

If you support the jewelrycrafting system as is, then all of them should be this grindy.

Therein lies the problem - "it's just Jewel crafting" - and therefore seen by you as something either to master quickly or else it becomes a grind. It's a part of a long-term game, it doesn't need to be mastered this week or next month. If you see the time taken to master a new profession as a waste of time in a chapter with very little content then don't buy the chapter!
