How did you choose your forum/account name?

Mine is a variation of a nickname my husband gave me. My real name is Nikki, so i'm unsure how he got to it, but I like it.

Well, my forum name is my old gamertag. I officially moved away from the Runschei tag in Oktober 2017 and wen't full on StickPrincess instead. But why? I know there are at least 4 other Runscheis around, and even tho I've used Runschei since like, 2004 or something I think it's about time to fully embrace the Stick

Mine was a nickname I was given to me when I was quite a younglin, it reflected on the kind of person I was and how I went about it. Plus most people won't ever know what it means and those that are wondering if it is meaning something bad will be in for quite a shock as it it is more of an honorary name. At least I know for my name no mod will ever have any sort of issue with my username.

I did Renaissance Faires for many years and this was my "rennie name".
Well, my full name was "Lord Wenchmore, Earl of Morningwood".
My main character name is the same I use in most all RPG games, Drakon-Koryn Orindiil, which comes from one of my favorite fantasy series and a traditional Dunmer name.

I play a few instruments and am a huge music fan. Hurt is the name of one of my favorite bands, hence the name Hurtfan. But you can also say it means, I'm a fan of being Hurt, since I get pwnd in PvP a lot

I always struggled thinking of cool usernames, account names, yada yada yada as a kid when playing games. It wasn't until after I got into high school, I played football. Everyone gave each othe nicknames for some reason. The nickname people would always call me was "Bozzy" which is in reference to my last name (last name isn't actually Bozzy). I am also a drummer.

So when it came to creating account names in games and whatnot, it just clicked. BozzyTheDrummer.

Back in the days of CB radios this was my handle, I also used it to name my characters when i was able to on 8bit console, but due to 8 character limits sugarcoma became sugacoma


But to answer how I picked sugacoma

Well, at school a "friend" (he was older at high school I was still in middle school) died from drug overdose, rumours were suicide, other drug abuse, eventually his parents told us it was a diabetic coma , explained to me as a sugarcoma

When I had to pick a CB handle somehow I remebered him and the word sugarcoma just came out

It was in use on twitter so had to go with PSN_SugaComa for twitter ... I keep trying to see if I can steal it as the owner of of SugaComa is pretty much a none entity

I started my first Twitter account using my usual handle (tinythinker) in 2008 or 2009 or whenever, later changed the name, but regretted it and decided to open a new account with tinythinker. It had been taken by someone who never used it. I sent a dm asking for it if it wasn't going to be used. A while later I checked and it was available.

When I first had to really think about a username, I was playing Runescape... this would have been around 2002. I was like, dragons are cool, and my character is a warrior - let's call him dragon warrior!

Then, okay, favorite game of all time, random character I for some reason love, cool sounding name that has an air of power and authority...

I was 13.

So let's put that with my favorite color.

Hence, Kaiser Red (the game is Legend of Dragoon, still my favorite of all time).

Used it for a while, but something wasn't sticking. I don't like the idea of a username that isn't unique, something that isn't... simple; clean. I wanted a username with 1 word, that stood out, and that I wouldn't have to worry about everyone taking.

So, with Cooldude69 out of the question, I went about my school library (I'm a nerd, what did you expect). One of my favorite book series (the Xanth series) had a series of characters called the Night Mares (they were horses, because puns). They were all named after seas of the moon. Not only is that pretty cool, I thought about it, and The Moon fits me pretty well. I particularly liked the dichotomy of dark and light, and the idea of balance it represented.

Again, I was 13.

So I flipped through an atlas of the moon, and found Mare Marginis. Margins? Marginal? Margin? Fits the bill, describing balance or whatever. Starts with an M (I like the letter M, it appears red to me (grapheme-color synesthesia: google it)), is unique, does not need a string of numbers at the end to be available, is latin (a significant language) and, importantly, is one word.

I started using it for everything. Eventually, playing on xbox live (where people would say my username out loud), I got called Marg, margarine, margins, Mar-genis... you get the point. Thought about changing the name again, but at that point, my online identity was as Marginis. Plus after a few years, I don't even think about The Simpsons anymore when someone calls me Marg.

Got mine from City of Heroes, a Kinetic/Energy Defender and my main. Been using it off and on for forum handles ever since.

Character-wise, I tend to choose from Latin translations of words, or I use a Fantasy Name Generator.

I've been using this name for about 17 years now, almost as long as I've been online. It goes back to Ultima Online, although that game didn't use account names, you just used an email to log in (if I remember correctly) and other players could only see your character name.

But I needed a name for fan sites and I didn't want to just use my main characters name, so I combined her name (Danielle) with my real name (Katy) and got Danikat. It stuck, partially because I like it and even though quite a few people use it they apparently have different interests to me so it's usually available when I sign up to sites and partially because I'm still using the same character name (and character, in a sense) in most RPGs so it still fits.

And considering my other screen name is Just_Me which I use on music sites where I didn't want the association with my RPG character, and the thought process there was literally "I want something that's just me...yeah, that'll do" I think the main reason is that I don't like trying to come up with new screen names.

See what happened was, I got a Beta invite, and I wanted to hustle and get in asap (plus I am terribad at deciding things like names with any sort of quickenss AND I was still in the dark place) so here we are. All the things have this name that tie into my ESO life. And its fine, I don't hate it, but it may not be what I use in future games and I never used it before this game.

Used variations of Lynx as my gamer tag for as long as I can remember. I don't know exactly when it started but I want to say it's from back in my battletech/mechwarrior days with clan lynx.
In starwars galaxies I used lynxo bastani as my character name. In world of Warcraft it was nightlynx. It's developed and changed from there on out throughout different games and depending on availability. I've also gone by Leonin, kilrah, and several other feline related names over the years

I pretty much always go by either "Draghorn" or "Top Floor". Both are characters I made up.

Draghorn is an anthropomorphic dragon.

Top Floor is a "File-Cabinet Robot". Basically a humanoid robot with a filing cabinet for a torso.
