SINGLE. crown store item released up to Shadows of the Hist was released, somewhere between 500 and 1000 dollars on crown crates (so I KNOW how much of anrip off they are - still not a single radiant apex mount), several other crown store items since Shadows of the Hist (at least 50 bucks a month spent on that, I'd say), and a few other things, like furnishings and appearance change tokens (luckily I did all my researches and horse trainings with in game gold), totalling around 500 dollars (thank the divines there was a crown store sale when I got the mundus stone furnishings). This is a conservative estimate. I'll let you do the actual math (I'm afraid what I'll find).

I've played since the beta, I love TES, and I was there for a lot of firsts, so I'm invested. I can't say I should have spent all this money, or that I'd do it again given a redo, or that I really have the money to spend... but ESO has a lot of things I like, and I think it's a game deserving of compensation for everything it provides.

This also happens to be one of the reasons I feel wrongs in the game should be righted, and why I have such vehement hatred toward crown crates and other predatory practices. Those shouldn't need to be implemented when there are players like me, right (this is a rhetorical question)?

But yeah, judge me if you will. Have at it.

So, I was looking for something to do over my lunch break. I worked out some math, combining some estimates, some wiki data, and ESO crown store pricing. I estimated I spent about 3520 as a low estimate, which I rounded to somewhere between 3500 and 4000 US dollars.

I was wrong. Looked up actual billing history, and before factoring in tax and change (I rounded to the nearest dollar amount when adding) I spent $526USD on Elder Scrolls Online on PC, before the console release. On console, to date, I've spent $4,670USD on ESO, not counting xbox live gold. That's $5,196USD spent on ESO to date, or about $1000 a year. That's roughly half of what I'd spent on every videogame related thing I've ever owned up to 2013, just spent on ESO, one game. There's a poll option for $500+, where's the one for $5,000+?

Kinda makes me wonder if there's anyone else in the 5,000+ club, or if I have single handedly spent the most money on this game of any individual person as a player (I sincerely hope so, for everyone's sake).

Sad thing is, I would've spent more, but the crown crates (specifically the crown crate rewards you can only get with RNG) and the rising cost of crown store items soured me on the idea. If not for the prohibitively high cost of buying every single item (like 40 dollars PER MOUNT, or having to buy a million crates AND get lucky just to get a few rare crate mounts) I would still be buying every single crown store item ZOS releases. As it is now, I only spend money if it's something that isn't some sort of duplicate of what I already have or if I really love the cosmetics of it. That's why I could care less if they release another senche mount now, whereas, if not for the aforementioned reasons, I would still be pretty excited and buy it immediately. I will gladly be a whale for a company that treats me right, but it's harder when they don't. It's also harder when I'm really more of a dolphin than a whale, but I'm a generous sea mammal, so I can get past that.

tl;dr Please tell me I'm not the only one who's spent over $5,000 bucks on this game.

You’re fine mine comes in at just under $6k if I convert to those dollar things you folks use.

It's not about how much others have spent. I could care less how much you've spent. It's about Zo$. They should care how much we've spent when we complain about they're practices. Should our opinions be ignored by ZoS just because you don't care? Should we be demonized, as you put it, for not being happy? Should we not have the same right to tell them that? No.

Base game and sub since launch, sub ended just before Morrowind and I resubbed for 3 months for Morrowind (bit of a waste honestly), hardly bought crowns as the ESO+ sub gave me plenty and I have absolutely no interest in overpriced housing or motif items.

Not sure of my full in game time, but I'm sure a $ per hour rate would look better than the total spent.

I would like to say it is because I have been playing since launch so it just built up over time.... but one round of crown crates until we got the mounts we wanted and epic type houses was all it took. Sort of sad when I think about it like that.

At first, I was surprised how many hit 500+.

But then I remembered Math and Multiplication.... just subbing for 3-4 years would clear that hurdle easily.

(which also makes me not want to think about what I spent on WoW, playing from vanilla thru Cataclysm. Wasn't subbed all the time, but then I also had to buy several expansions for ~40$)

...of course, my physical hobbies have been worse. I played Magic the Gathering from Beta through.... Urza's Saga? Still have like 10-12k cards sitting around in boxes. And then there's all the Games Workshop miniatures games that I collected & painted multiple armies for (Warhammer, WH40k, Battlefleet Gothic, Titan Legions/Epic Space Marine, Bloodbowl, Mordheim.... 1988 to the mid-00's)

Good thing I don't drink or smoke. ;)

I bought the disc for the game pre-owned at GameStop, pre-ordered Summerset, and received Morrowind for free, and I bought a month of ESO Plus.

So yeah, so far at least 100$ or so. I'm sure I'll spend more as I continue playing. Oh, and I actually bought the game twice, kinda. Since I traded a copy in last year, and then bought it again recently.

Spent over this on just one crown crate season

When I bought the game with early access was over 100$

4 years sub is over 700$

Each crown crate season minus the last 2 I spent over 200$

Then all the other crown store items like mounts houses furniture and chapters

I would have to look up everything but I'm sure I'm near the 4k mark

If I factor in purchases for my wife as well, I'm looking at around $400. Maybe just over.

I'm really enjoying the game, and don't have disdain for the crown store, so I like to spend some of my hard earned cash to treat my wife and I to certain things. That being said, I'll probably hit the $500 mark once Summerset hits.

    Spendings chronologically:

    - spontaneous buy finding it in a physical store about a year ago (Morrowind was just out I believe): Base game 21 euro (+750 crowns edition (and got 500 new account crowns) bought 100 crown starter package for that containing my still favored horse)),
    - few months playing later finding out I really loved the game, dlc package with orsinium, thieves guild etc. from store, bought with crowns 35 euro (this in retrospect could have been done cheaper)
    - month of ESO+ for the 5 free (dwarven?) crates while logging in subscribed to eso+ and craftbagging my stock of mats 15 euro
    - morrowind 24 euro (physical preorder bonus edition on sale about 7 months after release),
    - month of ESO+ to fully play newly released CWC and the dungeon dlc's out by then, 15 euro (have now saved the crowns to buy the next content non-dungeon dlc and bought a single crowncrate to ensure getting the crow on arm memento).
    - digital preorder summerset 30 euro

    So: 21 + 35 + 15 + 24 + 15 + 30 = 145 euro = 180 dollars
(quite a bit more then initially planned when I spontaneously bought the game ;) but probably peanuts compared to others on here)

I dont know exactly but its quite a bit and im fine with it since ESO has given me alot of good times and still does.
    Easily over 1k i assume.

But the day that i spend all my crowns bought from discount in december in a failed attempt to get the black rider senche (the black/red cat radiamt mount) was a bad day. Never buying crates again.

Yes, i feel ashamed and am a very foolish girl falling for it but my crown shopping days are over now.
