[EXPLOIT?] Can we talk about that shady thing that Stamina/Melee builds do?

Since people are going to necro I'd figure I'd share this is why people bunny hop... or part of the reason. On the ground, your attacks can be walked through as a caster but in the air you almost have a 360 attack field. This is why I want to buy a elite controller for xbone bc I can remap jump to the left trigger to make it easier.

You're not the first person who has said this, so I'm beginning to believe it's not just an old wives tale. I'll have to try this some more next time I play.

It's definitely true... It's most noticeable with force pulse. As long as you hit the skill before the other player breaks the 180 degree plane it will go off... but you have to be in the air. I suspect you could replicate it on a practice dummy but since it doesn't move, you'll have to jump past it.

If they’re still autotaegetted they can actually break that 180 plane and still get just fine if you’re in the air. That’s kind of the whole point.

Yes by the time the skill fires they will be almost behind you
    Zaghigoth- Orc Stamplar
    Soul Razor- Altmer Magsorc
    Les Drago- Redguard Stamdk
    Eirius- Altmer Magdk
    Stormifeth- Altmer Magplar

Forgive my ignorance but is it hypothetically possible for players to collide with one another, as if with an NPC, rather than walk through one another? And would that eliminate this?

Lately I have been experiencing something else along these same lines which may or not be related - and I hope I can explain this properly.

At any distance, there are some players that seem to pulse some sort of LOS-blocking, such that only some of my skills will actually fire at at them, even in the open field. Additionally, beam abilities will cancel for no apparent reason. So for example I queue up a Soul Assault and it automatically cancels without dealing damage but still charging me the ultimate cost.

Anyone else been seeing this? I would normally call it a normal bug with the game, but it normally never happens - when it does happen it's always against the same shady characters.

I have experienced that problem a lot lately too.

Even players that are barely moving, or moving in a straight line can sometimes not be hit or only be hit by 1 out of 3,4,5 abilities. And that issue seems to be latency-independent as it also occures in IC, 1v1 fights, and when the campaign is pretty much empty.

This is why I started wondering if there is either a new bug/exploit or cheat in the game.
It's not like we had any significant (adverse) changes to server performance etc that could explain that.

Lol all builds do this, it's just someone moving inside your character. As a dizzy swing user and controller user this makes fights almost impossible to win if they keep doing that. My dizzy get's lifted in the air and they walk through me and it drops. Using a controller makes it harder to walk back to keep distance.

It's a good strategy to use against any channeled attack users, and very annoying to fight against.

If you see someone doing this a lot to you, just try to keep distance as much as possible and if they get too close sprint backwards a little to make some space before you attack.

Well for me it's not channeled attacks but instant abilities that just won't activate / connect with the target. And no, the target is not moving through me. In these cases I might simply not notice it. But in cases where they stand still or move in a straight line in front of me and my abilties are not activating it is pretty obvious.

The game basically behaves as if there was nobody, but my abilities are not greyed out either. I can activate them, but there is simply nothing happening.

If it's not when people are abusing moving through you then no idea, I have never seen anything like that when they are at any distance from my body other than some bad lag. But this game has countless bugs, especially in pvp.

I encounted that bug/exploit more frequently in the past, but then they apparently fixed it. But these last couple of weeks are pretty bad again. But Wolfhunter DLC saw the resurgence of a lot of old bugs, so who knows ... maybe it's connected to that.

Yes, but that puts a lot more burden on the net code, servers and clients. Rubber banding is not fun.

Imagine a scenario in which you move to x,y,x but another players also moves to x,y,z at the same time. Server then has to figure out who got there first (or some other process) and then tell the client(s) that one the players never got to that spot. Then some corrective action might have to be taken and communicated - e.g. move one of the characters back to where they started or off to the side.

ESO PVP servers are already not processing relevant info/ communicating well with clients. They certainly cannot handle a ton more workload.

Me too, sometimes I can't use my skills on an enemy that is moving around me, and sometimes I have also the sprint bug so I can't use skills until I press the sprint key :s

Well, last friday I spent a couple of minutes trying to cast frags on a templar near chal... it didn't work. It worked perfectly with the guys around the Templar.
Sarcasm is something too serious to be taken lightly

I was born with the wrong sign

    I took the wrong road
That led to the wrong tendencies
I was in the wrong place at the wrong time

On the wrong day of the wrong week
Used the wrong method with the wrong technique

All you need to know is that it's nearly always one of "the usual suspects". You know, the same guys that come to these threads and attempt a "these are not the droids you are looking for" but not with jedi magic, just with personal attacks and insults.

Why it is that these angry denouncers of anything exploitive existing pop up in threads like this? Take a wild guess.

While they aren't violating forum tos and insulting people they refrain with "what proof do you have", as if people saying that have personally witnessed this are all lying.

For the record, I don't know what causes this phenomena. I do know I've seen it happen and it's pretty lame that someone standing right in range of your attacks can't be hit.

Don't worry, the "toughguys" will turn up to say your lying. That's their modus operandi, after all.

It does beg the question of why they turn up and even bother refuting what people say (usually with insults that get modded out of existence). I guess the answer is sort of obvious, no?

That’s interesting. I wonder if it’s another form of the permanent CC invulnerability bug. Do you have a video or screenshot or something?

The frequency with which this happens to me makes me think it’s just lag. I constantly find myself quite literally face to face with an enemy, yet I can’t target them with anything.

This targeting problem started to happen to me after an update along with the "cracks in the world" I call them I think is was the the Hunter DLC update. The cracks in the world are when your riding along and suddenly you are at a loading screen for a few seconds and then back. I stops you from riding and you have to start again losing the speed and stamina.

Lol coincidentally I noticed that happening yesterday while using fossilize but figured it was just ZOS trolling me again.
Dude was almost in my face so close was he yet fossilize stayed greyed out/dark as if there was no1 to target.

    U sure this is intentional?

I'm pretty sure this is intentional. It's always good, tough players I notice doing this. I never have this problem with weak lowbie/noob players.

By the way, I should also point out that this ONLY happens at very close range. These same players can get Fragged at 5 or 10 meters or whatever, regardless of whether they are wiggling or hopping.

They could be using abilities that make them move too fast for the hamster server to keep up with, so you're still seeing them in front of you, but they've already moved behind you. When i fight 1v1, I prefer to roll-dodge through them so I come out behind them, rather than backward and further away. It keeps them off balance and always having to spin around to find you. This may be what you encountered.
