Why is there even a cost for these outfit customizations? Who the heck are we paying this fee to if we, the crafter, have all the know-how to craft gear in various styles and traits? We already have to pay non-crafter NPCs to repair our gear for no apparent reason other than "gold-sink". The only reason there is a high gold cost associated with these outfits is so ZoS can have another opportunity to sell more change tokens.

Every time there's a glimmer of hope for some aspect of crafting, some needlessly redundant aspect is tacked on which cancels out the change players have been begging for in the first place. It's always 1 step ahead, and 2 steps backwards with the whole crafting system and it really is quite disappointing.

What is wrong with that they are trying to create more opportunities to make money? Aren't they a company or what? If they need more money to invest in this game just take all the opportunities they can. I would do that, wouldn't you?

Good move actually might consider buying motifs and token from the Crown Store. You have Crown Store sales, you get crowns with subscription or you can farm gold. Very good business model.

They already make more money than anyone realizes from subscriptions alone. The micro-transactions from the in-game shop are just icing on the cake. Sure, they can do whatever they want because it is their business model (and they have that right), but it doesn't mean they aren't being greedy or downright milking subscribers. It's just a sour experience. One already has to grind gold/time for some of the simplest things in this game, now they are adding grind for simple appearance changes which should have already been present in the first place. Many truly F2P games have no qualms over appearance changes, and let you do so freely.

I don't think that the Outfit System is big enough to drive revenue, or to change the in-game gold economy. The gold charge is not so that they sell more Outfit Tokens. The gold charge is so that Outfit Tokens have a reason to exist. While I am sure that there will be people who buy them, the real value in the Outfit Token is as Crown Crate filler. That is probably why they are in the game. They are in the game so they can give them away as prizes.

Soon, when people are opening Crown Crates, and not getting the mount they want, they can get Outfit Tokens! The next Crate season will probably have an impressive Outfit Token drop rate.

Transmogrification/Costume systems seem to be widely panned by people for the cost associated with using it, even in-game costs. ESO will be no exception. Sure, you get the people who are all "ZOS has to make money" or "gold is easy to get", but the simple fact is that it is not uncommon for these charges to be unpopular. In this case, there really isn't a direct revenue or gold sink reason to have them, either. They could have simply not done it, and the impact would have probably been negligible.

It will be forever mentioned by anyone who reviews ESO and the Outfit System that they charge every time the player wants to change it. In many cases, that will be enough to drop it in any rankings of various equivalent systems, when compared to games that don't have that, or even do a one time charge.

I like the idea of making the Outfit Tokens universal motif tokens. This justifies the existence of the Token, and can remove the need to charge gold so that they have value.
