I’d even go so far as to say not to attack people who are just exploring the map.

Thing is, those guys never complain. It's always the "top boys" who do, the ones that are pretty good, and have some sort of big ego etc.
Like the other day, I was riding from Farragut towards Chalman or whatever, and came to a spot where a nasty AD sorcerer was fighting an EP stamplar. I recognize the EP guy, he is ok - but not able to bring down this sorc himself. I stop to watch, and try and kill the sorc if he killed my ally. I waited like 3 minutes, when I started to see "Chal ua FD, AD zerg" stuff in zone chat - and I decided to wrap things up and go to Chalman. So I basically gave the sorc my worst and killed him in the blink of an eye (even I was impressed! LOL).
Seconds later I get a message - of course. Something along the lines "U xv1ed me, ur ***". I simply replied "So sorry, but I gave you a chance with lots of time, and I don't leave an ally behind - or enemies alive during a nearby siege. Have a nice day good sir" hahaha.... His followup was like "Gave me a chance? You dropped your ulti and feared me while I was fighting!?", I never replied to that.
I got whispered by my ally too, like "Thank you. You wouldn't believe the number of people who rode past us and didn't help...".

It's not always Ego. Sometimes it's just hard to find a good time and then you ruin it

That's like scary for real, and I don't know in which of several ways is the worst. There indeed seem to be a lot of people around thinking it's simply their right to move around as they wish, killing everyone uninterrupted.

Yes, but not exactly, but nearly. It's Alliance vs Alliance. If you wear the wrong colors, I will try to kill you. Of course, I'm not a barbarian savage in real life, so I ain't in the game either. I have some manners, but war is still war. :-)
Player vs Player is what you do outside Mournhold etc., or maybe if you go with some groups to Battlegrounds. But you can't expect people to follow PVP rules in a AVA area.
Furthermore, how people behave in this game often (but maybe not always) reflects how they are in real life. I'm the kind of guy who gladly help an out numbered enemy against an other enemy, it's exciting to wait and see if they will attack you next - or fire off some emote and/or just leave.

/facepalm
PvP is anything that is two players fighting one another. its not limited to outside cyrodiil unless you go to cyro to only fight scripted AI mobs.
You get all your mates... your entire zerg and you zerg that tree that he is running circles around until he is no more.
Then you tbag his body and send him a message and say something like "you suck. I started pvp today and i 1v1 you no poblem"
Its important you immediately tbag him after he dies. That way you light the spark of rage asap and your incoming message will hit the spot just right.
And when they challeng you to 1v1 you agree and then have your friends in stealth follow you at distance to the agreed location and then zerg him again. Then repeat the taunts.
Thats how you kill them.

100% true. For the solo player raging that they got zerged: that rage is a sign of immaturity. You knowingly decided to small scale/solo. Something you have to accept is the possibility of being outnumbered and zerged. Own it. You either 1vX or you dont. emphasis on "1".
It need not have anything to do with honor or confidence. To many players, Cyrodiil is a war and the general rule is that all opponents should be eliminated ASAP. A team player will not want to leave his less experienced teammates to the wolves if they feel they can help, regardless of numbers. For the groups that zerg solo players: that zerging is a sign of no confidence in yourself and no honor. You know you cant beat a player on their terms so you send in overwhelming odds to even the odds. additionally, if you see one player and you have 6+ in your group - let em go! dog piling a player with 6 or more people isnt honorable. it shouldnt be fun. thats a hollow victory.

@Raudgrani
If you really did there is nothing to be proud of. I never interfere if I see that it’s a legit 1v1 and not just a coincidence.
Im surprised this discussion is still occurring.
Guys, to answer the OP and have insight into this type of topic, it comes down to personal reflection.

TL;DR: dont zerg solo players. solo players, accept your odds and dont rage.

For me as a solo player if I see a 1v1 I ride right on by. To me thats just good sportsmanship. I had a 1v1 at a resource the other day and an opposing player watched us duke it out but did not interfere. Thought that was really cool and told him as much. He said he enjoyed watching us fight and would not think to get in the way. Nice to know there are still some classy people out there.
