Edit, I took your post at face value, before opening the spoiler.I now understand the point you were making.

Sad, because I was holding out hope that it really was fixed without being documented (like consecutive Alchemy writs were today)

Or their dev resource allocation is a real mess, as they may just have not put in any effort.

TBH, at this point, I think this is ZOS's not giving an eff about pvp more than not being able to fix it.

What if we all committed to submitting a bug report every time sound cuts out, for 24 hours? It would either help them see how widespread this issue is and get some attention on it, or it would overwhelm them and make them even less likely to pay attention to pvp bug reports than they do now.

I'm willing to try it though.

Your answers to some additional questions may assist us:

    - Which version of the client are you using? PC? Mac? 32 or 64bit?

    - What other audio programs are you running while playing (Netflix, YouTube, Spotify, etc)

    - Do you notice any particular abilities being used when this occurs?

    - If you have video capture of this occurring, share it. :)

    - What other audio programs are you running while playing (Netflix, YouTube, Spotify, etc) None. I may or many nto have Discord of Teamspeak on; happens either way.

    - Do you notice any particular abilities being used when this occurs? Destro. Permafrost. Sets like Earthgore going off. But anymore those are going to be present at every large engagement where sound is likely to go out, so I wouldn't say they are necessarily related.

64-bit client. I can try the 32-bit version for a night to see if it makes any difference.

I usually have Winamp running in background, playing audio from a Shoutcast stream. I don't use any plugin, audio output is set to DirectSound.

Can't say on particular abilities. It happens at times while I'm just using a siege weapon, so any ability-related issue would be from those used by other players.

The issue mostly occur during larger skirmishes, so if you want an almost sure way to trigger it, be involved in a keep siege on Vivec, especially after the wall goes down and there are people fighting one another within the walls. Can happen both on keeps and small outposts.

I'm using a Creative Labs Soundblaster Z as my sound card.. Running Windows 10 1709 (issue also occurred with 1703).

Additionnal info: I play with music disabled in ESO.

    The answers are:

    1. 64 Bit on Windows 10 PC
    2. YouTube and Twitch commonly are open in Google Chrome browser tabs, TeamSpeak is usually open and running as well
    3. No, it doesn't seem to be.
    4. My experience is similar to Kyle Wilson's with the caveat that in LARGE battles (50v50) when the music track gets to the point it would loop, it just ends instead.
    5. Additional point here -- I've had this happen in Skyreach, too. After about 1 hour of farming the instance (resetting it after each clear) the sound started cutting out with each pull, then eventually cut out to the point I had to restart the client to get it to return.

We need a poll of how many people are experiencing this. I'd imagine it's gotta be up around 80-90% of the players in cyro. This is unacceptable to be still going on since CWC release.

This was happening in Vivic last night (11/12) in almost every battle. We had around 12 people running as a group and all of us at one time or another had it happen. Usually it was all of us but a few times a couple would have sound when the rest didn't.

Has also been happening in some of the trials. The one with the clouds of poison especially is bad it seems.

    Hey folks,

I have a few questions for those of you experiencing this problem:

    1) Roughly how many combatants are in the fight when you experience this? 5? 10? 50? 100?
    2) In which areas do you experience this problem? Just in keeps, resource points, or bridge choke points? Or anywhere there seem to be enough people fighting?
    3) What other performance issues do you note occurring, if any, while this happens? IE does the game also lag, do you notice any missing visual effects, etc?
    4) After leaving combat does your audio return to normal? If not, what sounds seem to not return as you would expect?

Looks like I'm getting to the party late on this one. Wanted to mention, though, that last weekend while PvP'ing in the Vivec campaign my audio would totally drop out in battles involving 50 or more people. We had some massive zerg action happening. :) And, once moving to an area where there were less than 20 people the audio would come back. No other performance issues.

-The sound is lost when a large group of players are in the area. A large keep battle on Vivec during primetime will basically guarantee sound loss for all players. It happens at different thresholds for different people though. Some lose sound in fights with around 30 players while I still keep my sound. As the fight gets larger and larger more people lose sound including myself. At about 60 players everyone has lost sound - this can be confirmed by reading zone chat. As more and more players die, the sound will return. The running joke at the moment is 'oh the sound is back, we must be winning' sure enough all the enemies in the area are dead and our zerg has prevailed.

-It has occurred with no additional programs open other than teamspeak, but I think it has happened without teamspeak open to.

-No abilities in particular as there are a large variety of skills being used in the battle.

It's not only in PvP (same issue than most of the players with big groups).
In PvE too, but it happens only when you have a "zerg" of NPCs, the best example is the big pack of Adds just before the Mantikora in Sanctum Ophidia, almost everybody lose all sound at some point and it will automatically come back close to the end of the fight.

That's exactly what I experience everyday now in Cyrodiil since CWC patch. Sound fades away, music is still playing and then the sound fades back in.

It seems like it isn't a long time the sound is gone, only like for the duration time of a skill so like 10 seconds or so. Just like it can be heard in your video (effect sound is gone vom 0:44 to around 0:55).

Lost sound today in Vivec (seems to be more prominent here.) Eventually it stopped coming back altogether.

Left Cyro, to Reaper's, still no sound.

Verified I indeed had sound on my pc.

    Logged another toon on.

    Still no sound.

Had to relog the client for it to come back.

Was just checking my video recordings from last week and I didn't have an issue with that first pack but lost it on a few other add pulls further on (and even during Ozara). I did notice the times it was doing it the sound engine appeared to start to 'lag' as well. For example I had the synergy sound and my potion sound sometimes still audible (despite every thing else quiet) but if they were, they were maybe 2 seconds delayed.

I get the sound bug when playing solo with only ESO running. No music, no browser, no TS, no Discord and still no sound during large fights.

It's like the no sound bug we had in, I think, in 2.3. Sound would disappear in the same situations. The bug was eventually mostly fixed, although it wasn't completely eliminated.

    PC 64 bit

    Teamspeak occasionally, nothing else.
    - Do you notice any particular abilities being used when this occurs?

No particular abilities, I think it is just a mass use. I'm on the lower end of the PC power computer, on very large keep fights ( 30+ v 30+ ), whenever forces collide textures would degrade slightly and abilities would become less and less invisible. This has always happened, and is pretty normally considering the amount of things going on and my poor computer trying to keep up. But it is at this point, the sound bursts. I say burst, because that is what it is. Not just the music, all sound coming from the game, as if the buffer bursts.

Sound resumes again whenever the fight dies down, or the keep has changed hands. Interestingly, this is when the fps increases again and the textures update.

    From CwC patch:

    "Performance Updates
In this update, we’ve been hard at work improving the performance of the client. We’ve overhauled how the client handles animations, significantly reducing memory requirements. Additionally, we’ve made significant optimizations to the Scene Graph. Together, these two additions have resulted in significant gains in frame rate and improved load times into areas with many characters and/or buildings, including in Cyrodiil."

Now, since I saw no improvement at all in frame rate and load times, I wonder if something went wrong with this kind of update...
