In normal - ALWAYS, I can do it solo and just rush in trash packs to clear the way, politely wait all mates to come and then kill that thing fast.
In some vet dungeons - YES, I go as a healer with taunt, my friend DD slots a fake tank role, so I perform as a tank and a healer (oppa vDSA style), don't even bother to slot shield: bosses are burnt down too fast. Or it can be me who slots fake tank role, nvm.

Without a friend to share roles - NEVER. You can't do tricks with randoms, they need your true role.

Don't forget that non-DLC dungeons are just too easy to deploy all the mechanics, and you need a full party only with low cp or in DLC dungeons. The other cases - 4 DDs or 3DDs + taunting healer (the Warden will perform just great even as a heavy armored tank: War machine + Cute forest ult = smooth dungeon run)

So I'll say yes, with a caveat...

I usually play with another 3 people, so there is our "usual group of 4" and we figure out what kind of stuff are we gonna do, and is it the Vet stuff (and should we bring out the "A Team") or do we need to level somebody or what.

There's been times when there are only 3 of us and we want to do an undaunted that really calls for 4 (some do, some don't - if you know them and have the right group). If you need a strange 4th, easiest to get, and easiest to deal with if they are slightly crappy is a tank. (bad healer? Bad News!).

So there have been times when I (or someone) will go with the "backup healer" In my case it's often a sorc with pet heals and 1 or 2 resto abilities on the back bar, in order to justify asking for a tank for the fourth. Once we had all three of us throwing mixed DPS and "backup heals" and it was alternately terrific or hilariously horrid.

If I would activate all 3 roles with my magicka chars (except my Warden, he is freshly leveled and needs more skill points, so he is just able to tank at moment) in the LFG tool, it would be just honest.

From a 30k+ DD to a SPC/Worm healer to a Akaviri/Ebon tank with Swarm Mother / Bloodspawn ultireg and Warhorn support with just one hotkey activation for Dressing Room, capable of doing all 3 roles even in vet DLC dungeons. Maybe I do some more CPs in Blessed and Bastion for some DLC vet instances as a healer (what are 3k gold in current times ? Nothing...)

My advice for fake tanks and fake healers:

STFU, farm (or craft -> SPC, Worm, Akaviri, Ebon etc. is nice to have, but not necessary) your stuff otherwise -> /kick

My advice for fake DDs who need to hide their bad dps in 3+ DD groups:

STFU, ltbuild, ltrota and ltweave. Learn to make so much dps that a Warhorn and other buffs and debuffs actually make a real difference.

No i never chose other role for vet que, how every once my friend told me to help him out in vet city of ash 2 dungeon as a healer, while i was also sellected the role of a damage dealer. but we were managed to deal with the dungeon quiet nicely

i do it almost everyday.
random normals can be carried singlehandedly, even dlc ones.
i just always ask if someone need to do quest and if no - full run along.
dont see any problems here.

I wont stop either unless they make it impossible. Why would I when I've never failed a vet HM dungeon with my setup and I carry low CP through all the time. Never been kicked, never failed a dungeon even running with 3 people below 200cp.

I don't do it with dlc dungeons though except vwgt. I could probably pull it off, but quite frankly the dlc dungeons just annoy me anyway so I prefer not to run them at all. Those you cant just steam roll through, Everyone has to do their part and know mechanics. Cant really rely on just myself to clear it, otherwise I might as well just solo it to begin with and I'm not "that" pro

If you slot a taunt, you're not a "fake" tank. You're a real tank! Taunt the boss, hold them still. No other requirements.

I have queued as a tank with DPS gear and a 1h and shield. I did in fact taunt and position the boss correctly, but did a DPS rotation in between to make the dungeon go faster.

I'm usually queued up in less than 15 minutes as a DPS.

I did mistakenly queued up as a tank or healer a couple weeks ago but didn't confirm the ready check, changed my role and queued again.

Eh, it's really relative. Last night, I got Falkreath Hold normal on one of my healers and we had a 690 DPS queued as tank. He melted everything so fast, it didn't really mater. Someone in the group complained as we were literally speed-running it and I was keeping everyone healed, but they were fixated on the fact that they were watching someone who wasn't using a sword and board, like it was an OCD to them that the person wasn't truly a tank, because no one was dying and we were melting everything. I just found the response mind-boggling.

Hell yeah, because I get put into a group faster, I also do it on specific dungeons and not random dungeons. Dungeons that don't really require a tank. Certain dungeons need certain roles to succeed and I don't mess with that.

You'd definitely qualify as a both fake and wannabe tank in a pug, but with guildies it's completely fine since you all know what you're getting into. With strangers though I don't think it's okay.

There is no need to lie when you have equipment and skills known for multiple roles.

My StamDen can heal and DPS acceptably with a click of a button, so I queue as both on him. I'd queue as tank as well, but I need more skill points and some plague doctor before I'd be willing to do that.
