This event is a fail

I was hoping for big battles, something interesting at least for a change in IC. All I've seen so far is faction stacking in separate campaigns, with minimal interference. People just flip to the zergiest faction and go sit down with 30 people waiting for Molag Bal to respawn or run the ring with just as many waiting for bosses to respawn. It doesn't particularly feel like a PvP event, just a dolmen group on a bigger scale.

The disparity in power, builds, and experience between players as well different motives mean that Cyrodiil and PvP will be gankers and zergs. Those who mostly PvE will show up and follow the same pattern for special events then leave. There is nothing different about special events that would change these dynamics.

The last PvP event in July brought some life into the campaigns.

This one makes IC just as dead. I mean, people congregating in big numbers to farm monsters and Molag Bal were happening before, but now instead of 2 people trying to outsmart 10 people, it's 2 vs 30.

    What is the motivation to:

A.) Go solo/small group in IC if you are mostly a PvE player?
B.) Focus on something other than skins/pets, which only come from Molag Bal?

Maybe you go for some achievements like district bosses, and if you have the right group maybe you work some on the main quest.

Yeah, if they did it like the Midyear event maybe they could have said "Kill 50 players in the arena for XXX prizes", etc. Mostly PvP during this event is one large group crushing a somewhat smaller group to take over a district flag or the center of the sewers, then having that group get smashed by another one. I have lasted 30 seconds as a weakly geared healer amid 15-20 players because they just spam one skill and get frustrated that it isn't like hitting a PvE mob. Technically that is PvP but it isn't the kind of PvP the OP seems to want.

@gabriebe , I don't think I'd agree. While it isn't my cup of tea I've found really good solo/duo/small group action in IC by going to faction stacked campaigns and hitting those farming groups. A lot of them are juicy PvE players and you make a lot of stones just fighting players. I haven't really had to do any sort of PvE. We've even done six man bombs of the thirty man groups and wiped them multiple times.

I wish it was more in the direction of midyear mayhem, but I'll take more folks in any iteration of PvP rather than the relatively dead Cyrodiil we've been seeing.

Most everyone in IC during this event is there for Tel Var and not to fight. That's evident by how many people I've come across who just hold block when attacked attempting to submit so I won't kill them.

IC PvP is my favorite PvP in this game. I was desperately hoping to find some better action than I have. Anything to breathe some life back into this zone. Guess that was too much to ask.

Honestly, I just assumed people had PvP and PvE toons. I mean, sure, I much prefer PvP, but I also have characters geared for PvE that I wouldn't dare bring anywhere near Cyro.

I guess the whole thing just doesn't seem so different at the moment because I really just find myself cloaking as I usually do, waiting for a juicy gank to pass by. Or bombing and banking, that is bring my bombblade into a group, kill as many as I can and bank the half I get to keep after that suicide mission.

I was hoping for something a little more strategic, on the level of what we see in mainland Cyro. Instead, unless I'm on the DC IC refuge server (Shor, I think), nobody's grouping to fight.

I will say though that I've made far more TelVars than I'll ever need in this game, so that's nice. Just not very entertaining. And also takes off the only reason why I ever go to IC in the first place.

Events like this only bring out gankers, the most reviled playstyle. The event needs a pvp starter, like someone mentioned, kill xx in the arena. Force people together. Don't force us to make our own fun.

IC was never about PvP and this event only brings the majority of players out for the PvE rewards so I'm honestly not surprised to see players actively avoid the other alliances on the "sanctuary" servers.

From a marketing stand point ZOS did the least amount of work necessary to sell old dead content. Just double the reward value. That is all it takes to make people swipe their credit card. Double tel var and a chance at some skins. That's all it took. See ya next year for another double value minimum effort IC event. Don't forget to check out the September crown crates!!!

Getting wiped by a group of 6 or 7 enemy players as soon as I set foot in the street was enough for me. I don't use skins or non combat pets and have never even looked at what I can buy with tel var stones. I guess the event is not for me.

I have had the IC DLC since I first got the game 2 years ago and have never found a reason to enjoy it. At least in Cyrodiil there's room to move without getting jumped on every time you change direction.

ZOS should have gone back to the drawing board BEFORE the event and introduced some new, interesting rewards to bring PvPers back in the city. Double Tel Var is great, but what are old timers supposed to buy with it? We already have all of the old stuff!

I wouldn't even call it a success from a pve standpoint. The skin is, funnily enough, harder to get during the event than not.

What's easier to obtain? Farming the skin with 11 other people, all having 1% chance to drop it or farming the skin with 40 other people, where only 12 have a 2% chance of dropping it.

Not to mention the pvp, solo pvp is out of the question and we can agree on that. Bombing is the only way to kill these zergs and even then it's pretty hard as people are extra cautious (magelight spamming kind of cautious) from all the failed attempts they witness every 20 minutes.

My experience as well. I made some money and got depressed.

Not sure what the point is of bringing people into the PVP zone who will do everything possible to avoid PVP, but I'm ok with no more special events ever if this is the best they've got.

My point was that more people will be drawn to IC during the event, making farming it way easier than under normal circumstances for ungrouped people, players without big guilds and big social networks who would organize a Molag Bal farm, etc. That's the majority of the playerbase.

I honestly think I'm done with this event. I killed a few zergs, I got run over by more zergs, mostly solo. I agree that bombing is the only reliably successful PvP in IC right now. I have guildies out bombing to their hearts' content, but I just can't get in the mood to PvP enough to bother respeccing. Plus bombing is boring. Hurr durr I pressed R and killed a bunch of people not wearing impen. Look at me go.

For me the event was a lot more fun last year, because it had come out just before one tamriel. Where you'd jump into a group of zergbads and not get reactionary destro ulted into oblivion.

Zergs these days know that when a solo player comes by they can just repeat cast destro and defensive ults, while chasing said player around a house until he dies or gets bored. And if one of them does somehow die, they just respawn five feet away and run back.

I was expecting some incentives that would reward medium-to-large scale PvP in IC. Don't get me wrong, ganking is fun, but it's pretty much the only thing going in IC at all times.

Say for example you're defending a flag, you get Telvars as a defensive bonus. Or the game detects 20 enemies in the 3 districts adjacent to you, and you get a temporary Telvar bonus for killing X amount of em.

Yes to answer your question . Last year it had similar results and I was happy to see more players in IC . I do not care if PVP or PVE players in game .
