Game design is not a democracy nor should it be. Most people complaining here are just laymen, the devs are game designers. Players always want more power, most are too invested in the game themselves to assess rule changes. I'm actually glad this is one of the few games where it's not just the angry internet mob deciding what gets patched.
But somehow random youtubers and forum users know best.

i don't want to get stronger i just want to stay same or similar to how it was, just want a patch that I don't need to worry about build/ gear and actually enjoy the new content. But right now we are getting weaker and weaker every patch which is sick and tiring, and yet people call it balance lol...SO balance is achieved when everything is *** so it dosen't matter what you use since you are gonna be miserable anyways?

Except these changes didn't reflect the testing and feedback given.

Here are two threads by Asayre and dpencil analysing the trait, mundus, and set changes on the PTS (using math). They show that the state of balance on the PTS is better than ever:

    https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/359916/mundus-trait-and-cp-optimisation-for-pve-damage-dealers#latest

    https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/365185/magicka-dps-set-bonus-comparison-math-pre-hotr#latest

What does ZOS do? They revert most of these changes on the last day...

Have you ever worked as a game designer, or known someone who has? The process for hiring a game designer isn't very strict. They aren't savants. They're just folks who are logical, passionate about gaming, and (usually) know someone in the company. Often times, the community produces better analysis than they do (just because the community is comprised of thousands, if not millions of gamers, of which, naturally, a few will be very bright).

Here is some very thorough MATHEMATICAL analyis of the changes on the PTS:

    https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/359916/mundus-trait-and-cp-optimisation-for-pve-damage-dealers#latest

    https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/365185/magicka-dps-set-bonus-comparison-math-pre-hotr#latest

These are two very smart (you can call them "savants") players. They showed that ZOS was actually on the right track with the changes on the PTS. Then what happened? ZOS ignored that analysis, and reverted almost all the positive changes they had made on the PTS...

That's a bunch of ***, they got a lot of positive feedback, a lot of stuff was very viable, diversity was there. Then they decided to nerf the mundus stones and traits and make it so it's just going to be 1 thing better than all.
The devs are truly among one of the worst I've seen, they don't communicate these changes and they go against what the community was actually looking forward for in a very long time.

This patch was headed in a great direction, easily *** up and missed a good thing.
Lol. How you people seem to think that now that the patch is live they can't change anything else.

Exactly. Devs aren't gods, but they do see a much bigger picture than any of us and have all the data. To think that they just reverted some changes back out of spite is beyond hilarious. Besides, 98% changes remain, yet people on the forums act like everything's in ruins. Talk about overreacting.

They are always going to do what they want to do. I do not blame the Devs, this is a management issue. I was in management for 16 years. Planning and approving things always boils down to management. Something as simple as we are not going to make major shifts each patch.... it would stop. Show me the data that supports this change? I continue to play the game but I do not enjoy it as much as I once did. I still keep hoping they will want the game to be great though.

Sorcerna, proud beta sorc. RIP April 2014 to May 31 2016 DArk Brotherhood. Out of retirement for negates and encases. Sorcerna will be going back into retirement to be my main crafter Fall 2018. Because an 8 k shield is f ing useless. Died because of baddies on the forum. Too much qq too little pew pew. 16 AD 2 DC. 0 EP cause they bad, CP 2300 plus 18 level 50 toons. NA, PC, Grey Host#SORCLIVESMATTER actually they don’t or they wouldn’t keep getting nerfed constantly.

What we need to do is completely ignore the PTS next time... this should prevent them from ruining it further then they have at the start of the patch.

I was really excited for this patch but now I just feel disappointed.... its sad really.

I agree 100% about it being a management issue. Someone high up made a decision, and their decision was final. I saw this in another game, where management would consistently make decisions about balance changes or pushing content live when it absolutely was not ready, and IMO these kinds of management decisions over the course of a year lead to the decline and eventual death of that game.

Management looks at a spreadsheet that says a thing, and says "do this other thing, not the thing you were doing before", in pursuit of a specific outcome. I think with this patch, the outcome they wanted was less dps overall for everyone--to lower the ceiling, and lower the floor. They seem to consistently want people to do less and less damage.

I didn't participate in the pts, but I watched on Xbox this past month as the price of sharpened swords fell while infused/precise skyrocketed, I watched everyone start farming mothers sorrow and I just sighed and rolled my eyes....then they made some adjustments on patch day and I for one, am completely happy about them.
I hate when there is a huge meta. I hate when all the players are wearing the same sets because it's "so OP". The last patch zos was criticized heavily for not fixing anything (proc sets) during the pts. This patch they saw that a big meta wave was forming and they nixed it before players even got the chance to ride it. I think they did the right thing.

There's just going to be another meta, which atm seems to be apprentice/warrior stone only. Did you look at the links further up in the thread? Gear sets were really balanced, weapon traits were really balanced, mundus stones were really balanced, and they threw that all out the window when they didn't implement the precise change, when they nerfed the shadow stone, and when they nerfed crit.
