Tells - Troll/Hate tells - Threads while in offline mode

I wonder, why if you set your self in offline mode you are able to send tells to other players, yet you wont receive any response. Well, this gives the opportunity to all the troll players out there to send very aggresive and disgusting tells and threats with out giving you the opportunity to answer back, specially in PvP. In other words, ZOS you supporting trolling and harrasment by coward players that *** off people.
Simple solution, if you voluntarily set yourself offline, so no one knows your online and hence cant receive any messages, then you CANT send tells either or talk in zone chat or any public chat period. Perhaps only exception would be group and guilds chats.
If you this people might stop sending these troll tells because they will have to actually face the other player they threating or insulting, like a grown human being and not a little coward that its allow to insult people with out consequenses like it's happening for a while now.

Or maybe dont allow inter-alliances texting? like old days...

Thanks you.

    Do you PvP?

I get threats every time I PvP, some times I get over 25 per day.
Recently I even got a threat while in PvE from grabbing resources nodes...

Players/Community feels more aggresive these days, there is no respect and all of those players are set in offline mode...

Trust me, I know that already...
But tell me, why they can send threats and hate tells while in offline mode, and dont receive any answer back because of it. If stuff like that happen in real life they would get a punch in the face. Bad, hatred and coward attitudes should not be supported in game, and this offline mode it is at moment doing so.

You getting angry/salt tells in PVP? You've won.

The pinnacle of the ESO PVP experience is to have someone contact you from another alliance outside the normal combat exchange to tell you you cheat, you suck whatever.

This means you created an emotional response from them while you just played a game. Cherish these, and welcome to club babe.

Well the OP did mention making threads :p

On topic, I don't understand the reasoning for the system to work the way it does in the first place. Talking in group/guild/zone chat when offline makes perfect sense because in each of these instances people can respond to you using the same tool you did(group/guild/zone chat) and you're on equal footing there, but why on Earth would you want to send someone a personal message when they 100% cannot respond? 99/100 times I get a tell from offline people it's my friends who were feeding 10 alts' horses and forgot to log back on. I then have to mail them to remind them to log in and if their mail happens to be full well tough luck, they usually message me like in an hour with something like "LOL and I was wondering why no one wanted to talk to me" XD Heck I sometimes do this myself and it's actually annoying because it's so easy to forget about being set offline and then keep wondering why no one responds.

There are times I don't wanna be messaged or grouped, and its nice to be able to go offline, but still talk in guild when I may need to, for price checks or other things.

I agree though that its lame for people to send rage tells while offline.

    LOL trolling yourself
FYI - There is no such thing as 'night capping' in a world wide MMO.
FYI - There was no paid Beta. When they launched the game the Beta was over, even if you don't think it was.
    FYI - It's B2P not F2P. There is a difference.
FYI - It doesn't take any player skill to mash keys or buttons in this game. The ones that stay alive longer have the better internet connection and speed.
FYI - The game is not broken, it still works. It just has 'bugs' that need to be fixed.
    Balance is a "Bad" thing.

Example: There were hundreds of Jedi and only two Sith in Star Wars. The Jedi wanted, "Balance in the Force" and they got it. Now there are only two Jedi and two Sith.

    Disagree.

Don't disable offline-status chat for everyone in the entire game because a few jerks abuse it.

Report them if it bothers you that much. If block listing them also blocks their tells then block them.

The fun part about hate tells is you can truely let loose your imagination. Whenever I kill a cliff racer spammer and he rages at me, I try to imagine a kid that is foaming at the mouth, with 75% of his keyboard buttons torn out from previous outbursts, still neuroticaly spamming the nr. 1 button as if it were a muscle reflex. His eyes start popping out of the sockets, while he squeezes his fists together, ready to also smash up his beloved nr. 1 button because it didn't give him a free kill.

No matter what they say to me, I will just laugh my ass off.

I only express my rage-say to people who insolently steal treasure chests for which I'm actually fighting with mobs.
Very irritating attitude. In this moment of fun one quickly steal the chest/node and run.

Think of it as a blessing. They can send you abusive, insulting messages that, if they break TOS, you can report. Not being able to reply means that you are saved from giving them any ammunition back, and they have nothing to report you for in return. It gives you the "moral high ground" appearance, which is an advantage when getting other people into trouble for being awful.

Yes, disable whispering others when you're offline, though not so much because of salt or whatever. They can't respond, so there's no point in having it as an option. Whispers are a great way to have a normal conversation without clogging up /zone, /say, or gchat for everyone else -- that conversation can't happen if only one person is able to talk, so it seems pointless that an offline person can even initiate a whisper.

No to disabling zone chat for offliners though, anyone can reply in zone chat and /say, /yell, etc, so there's no reason to disable it.

I like how offline mode works :) People who want to troll will do it anyway - I think they would actually like to be in online mode so they can receive answers to their hate tells...
In pvp I received hate tells when I was online, but I do not send hate tells myself - I may only use some physical "interactions" to show my disapproval when needed :D And while offline I can still warn people in zone chat about enemy position, absolutely nothing wrong with it. I do not like that you can't type in any chat (except group) when dead though - it would be invaluable sometimes :|
The only thing I would change is: if person I'm trying to whisper is offline, I shouldn't be able to select option to whisper them (neither from player interaction interface, nor in chat). Once I saw a character with awesome looking armor and typed in whisper something like "how cool the armor looks and what style is it" - only to send it in vain cause that player was in offline mode :/ And then he logged out...
In pve if I'm offline and don't feel like changing my status, when I see someone WTB item I can sell - I just send them a whisper like "I can sell the item for this price, add me to group if interested". I will group with player for trade anyway, so I also see no problem in whispering like that.

Sending hatemail has nothing to do with being competitive. Someone taking pride in flaming/hating/bullying someone in a game needs to revalue their priorities or take them somewhere else. I can´t take someone serious if they send me hatemail in a game, it´s just sad.

Also why I don´t like some of these "exposed" videos people post on youtube. Some of them are clearly ment for entertaining purpose and are very mild in their "exposure". But some of them are obviusly posted for other reasons......

Yeah that should be changed. I like to be in offline mode sometimes for one reason or another, but the problem is, sometimes I forget, and if someone needs help for something and then I whisper them or I "LFM" for a group I wonder why I don't get a response. /facepalm I know, it's my fault for forgetting to go back on to online mode, but it would be good to have some sort of pop-up message in the corner when you post in chat that reminds you that you are in offline mode and that people may not be able to respond to you. Or just disable /whisper completely when you are in offline mode
As for hate tells, well I don't PvP much, and when I do I'm mostly in offline mode anyway... or the one getting killed so I haven't had a problem with that :D And no I don't send hate tells, because LOL why? But hey, if it's a problem, that's what the ignore feature is for, right?

Aw man, you get hate whispers from everyone. Your won't believe it. The people who whisper you from offline mode are just gold. Reminds me of someone who threatened to dox me for killing him while farming IC years ago. Just someone shows how great their insecurity is.

It doesn't matter though. The ignore list/offline mode works wonders and you don't need to ignore for longer than 24 hours. If it gets to death threats and harassment otherwise then you report and move on. It's just that simple.
