It baffles me how anyone can say it's anything other than a problem on ZOS's end. There's too many people on too many platforms experiencing these lag issues.
This has nothing to do, whatsoever, with problems on the users end. This is on their end. And if it hasn't happened to you, consider that maybe it would happen to you if you played at a different time, or in a different instance, different server, etc.
This is a major issue that could take a long time to fix. However, communication is key here. If they just let us know what's going on, that's better than burying your head in the sand.

I really, really expected the devs to chime in. The game has been unplayable for up to a week for some of us and we get nothing? How is that okay? @ZOS_GinaBruno can you at least pop in and say something like, "Hey loyal players, we're aware there's a big issue with unplayable lag and we're working on it. We apologize for the inconvenience." Is that so hard? What happened to this game?

Devs have never, will never chime in on the forums. Only extremely small companies, like the one that made the new Jason game, have Devs talk directly to players.

Secondly...lets define what "unplayable" means. Can you log in? Can you kill things? Can you move around and talk to NPCs? If the answer to these are yes then it's not unplayable. Is lag making it harder? Does it make it so some content would be near impossible? If you answered yes then while frustrating the game is still 100% playable.

I have actually had essentially 0 lag the last few times I've logged in over the past week and I've been playing over wireless. So it isn't affecting everyone.

Hey guys, just want to reiterate what was put on the Bethesda Support Twitter account that we are actively investigating the latency issues.

Whatever is going on is either happening somewhere between point A (customer) and point B (PC-NA server), or there's some sort of issue that the server has with people from certain areas.

From everything I've gathered, reading the threads, talking to people affected, etc. It seems a routing issue in between certain (North, north eastern/Canada/New England) ISPs and the data center.

AT&T routers are dropping packets, the best bet is getting a VPN to skip those routers.

I have had log in problems (after being disconnected from the server). I have had my toons unable to do anything but walk around (can't inter-act with doors, can't talk to npc, can't use ANY attacks). So, yes, it is getting "unplayable" as defined by you. I was in Cyrodiil last night when HALF (10 of 20 players) of our group just disconnected. I play PC-NA and we had group members across the globe having random issues with connectivity. I could see it being isp or switch related if it were isolated to a geographic region that was sending data along the same lines, but some Assies got dc'ed while others didn't. Some west coasters got dc'ed and some didn't. Some east coasters got dc'ed and others didn't. Hell, one guy in Houston got dc'ed and a guy across town (relative for the Houston metro, I know) didn't dc. I have done isp support in the past and have decent knowledge of ip and how it works. This doesn't seem like an isp issue, more like a server problem to me.

I was having problems with the lag spikes.

I rerouted my nodes (basically they're connection points between you and the ESO server) using a VPN.

I no longer have issues with lag spikes.

From what I can tell, the issue is a node somewhere in Texas, probably very close to the ESO server. But it isn't the ESO server.

EDIT: if any of you want to know what a post-net neutrality world looks like, this is it.

Since the Morrowind patch there have been serious animation lag with dual wield. You will only see the light/heavy attack animation, no other animations. After a few seconds or after a bar swap, all the prior animations will go off all at once. It has made dual wield impossible to run on stamina characters on Xbox.

No latency here. Skills processed the way the should be.I think it's a node too very near Zos but before otherwise everybody would be experiencing it.

Been hearing that for over 3 years.

Meanwhile, myself and everyone I play with have 1.5 second delays on bar swapping regardless of what time of the day it is.

What I don't really understand about this is that I can speedtest to Dallas with low ping and high d/l speeds ( I also live near Dallas) but I can't play on the ESO servers with out experiencing massive ping and huge lag.

Also, keep in mind that there is more than one "lag issue" going on, at the moment. It really depends on which one you are talking about, too.

    Firstly, they have responded.

Secondly, are you suprised? Silence is the ZOS modus operandi, we've been dealing with it mostly since imperial city, so lets not throw a tantrum, we've been dealing with this.

On the bright side, I've not had a single connection issue with secret world since I started playing.

Is the NA server down right now due to the lag issue or is it just me? :)

It is just you. I am logged into the PC NA server.

Honestly, I don't think that ZOS is the root cause of a lot of the problems that people have with lag, latency, and disconnects. Some of the people, yeah, but there is something else going on that is not ZOS.

Just from reading through all the threads, and seeing what people are doing, where they are, and what they are experiencing, I see several different problems all being munged together. I see a wide variety of people who are not having a problem, just as I see a wide variety of people who are.

I don't know what ZOS is going to be able to do. The server is busy with people.

Decidedly, not a popular perspective, to be sure.

So people from all over the US, Canada, Australia, and Europe all have this issue because it's nothing to do with anything on ZOS?

Could be. The people from all over the US, Canada, Australia, and Europe who do not have this problem are probably not lining up to blame ZOS. It will be interesting to find out, if we find out.

Lol, I hope you're trolling. Yes, some issues are on the user's end. But in a case like this where thousands of people are affected in completely different areas, "learning to network" won't get you anywhere. Either it can be fixed on our end or it can't; this time it can't.
