I really, really expected the devs to chime in. The game has been unplayable for up to a week for some of us and we get nothing? How is that okay? @ZOS_GinaBruno can you at least pop in and say something like, "Hey loyal players, we're aware there's a big issue with unplayable lag and we're working on it. We apologize for the inconvenience." Is that so hard? What happened to this game?

From everything I've gathered, reading the threads, talking to people affected, etc. It seems a routing issue in between certain (North, north eastern/Canada/New England) ISPs and the data center.

Secondly...lets define what "unplayable" means. Can you log in? Can you kill things? Can you move around and talk to NPCs? If the answer to these are yes then it's not unplayable. Is lag making it harder? Does it make it so some content would be near impossible? If you answered yes then while frustrating the game is still 100% playable.
I have actually had essentially 0 lag the last few times I've logged in over the past week and I've been playing over wireless. So it isn't affecting everyone.

I was having problems with the lag spikes.
I rerouted my nodes (basically they're connection points between you and the ESO server) using a VPN.
I no longer have issues with lag spikes.
From what I can tell, the issue is a node somewhere in Texas, probably very close to the ESO server. But it isn't the ESO server.
EDIT: if any of you want to know what a post-net neutrality world looks like, this is it.

Why on earth would we look on the twitter account for info when we have an official forum?

Almost a week later. You guys suuuuuure are on top of it

Since the Morrowind patch there have been serious animation lag with dual wield. You will only see the light/heavy attack animation, no other animations. After a few seconds or after a bar swap, all the prior animations will go off all at once. It has made dual wield impossible to run on stamina characters on Xbox.

Yes, we have a fix for that issue in the upcoming console patch.

Is the NA server down right now due to the lag issue or is it just me?
It is just you.I am logged into the PC NA server.
Honestly, I don't think that ZOS is the root cause of a lot of the problems that people have with lag, latency, and disconnects. Some of the people, yeah, but there is something else going on that is not ZOS.
Just from reading through all the threads, and seeing what people are doing, where they are, and what they are experiencing, I see several different problems all being munged together. I see a wide variety of people who are not having a problem, just as I see a wide variety of people who are.
I don't know what ZOS is going to be able to do. The server is busy with people.
Decidedly, not a popular perspective, to be sure.

Any ETA on this console patch?

You do realize that with a world wide player base that doesn't matter. Plenty of American companies with 24/7/365 support teams.

So people from all over the US, Canada, Australia, and Europe all have this issue because it's nothing to do with anything on ZOS?

Yep because clearly they have the power to find an external source of lag and fix it themselves. Shut up and sit down kid.
Sounds like a learn to network issue to me. I had lag and fixed it within 5 mins very simple.
