I wish they would do it like at the start where they actually compensated players with ESO+ (3 days compensation actually), altho I doubt they will do it again now.
They will do it when it's warranted.

An extra patch a week for a few hours isn't warranted. A week of emergency patches every day, or a few days outage entirely would probably warrant it.

As long as long maintenance does not stretch into every day, I am ok with things as they are and I look forward in great anticipation to all the long-overdue fixes that will ensue. :)

Maintenance Time gives me an opportunity to:-

    1. Catch up on all the words of wisdom - or drivel for that matter - that appear on the pages of this Forum.
    2. It releases me to catch up on all those little chores that seemed insignificant and paled compared to adventuring in Tamriel, eg
    • - watering the plants
    • - mowing the lawn
    • - writing that long-overdue letter
    • - placing the dirty dishes into dishwasher before they walk out of the door
    • - peeling spuds or scraping carrots for dinner
    • - baking that cake for aunt Bessie that I promissed six months ago
    You probably get the gist.

In fact, THANK THE DIVINES FOR MAINTENANCE! o:)

Really? Care to name some? Care to point on them, where unexpected crap are not compensating for subs?

Wow being the biggest, and most recognizable. SWtOR never did anything for maintainence as long as I was subbed. Rift gives out a bunch of trap for unscheduled stuff, but non subs get it too, and it is useless crap.

Sometimes when you wanna ride the roller coaster, you have to wait in a long line. Is it fair to ask for your money back if the line is longer, or the ride is shut down? Maybe, but good luck getting blood from a stone.
In WOW, if crazy sh*t happens - they are always prolong the sub-time, happy to teach you something.
SWTOR? Never, I repeat, NEVER there was something even close to 4-hour weekly downtime, can't even imagine 12-hr.
RIFT? never played, so can't say.
From the other side: GW2 just do not have down-time. And, what a surprise!!!!, no lags in the PVP-area too.
    Warframe do not have down-time.

Damn, maybe maintenance time causes that lags here?!
    :D

Like I said, you knows what you are paying for, dixit in game conveniances, not servers availability. That is what pays your cash, so you get what you pay for without delay. Period. I'd love to see you arguing even more tht you pay the engineers for their extra works. Please be my guest.

But anyway, @Turelus beaten your selfish entitlement by now.

Not in my time zone. Because the Blizzard's schedule was convenient for folks who lived where you did, doesn't mean that "few people were really affected." As an East Coaster I found it hilarious when ESO first came out and Californians could scarcely believe that they might not live at the center of this MMO's universe. I don't wish them inconvenience, but I also don't see them as the only consitituency that counts.

I'd bet if you read the TOS you'll find that you're entitled to exactly...nothing.

It is clear the majority of people who play online games are already accustomed to this fact, with the exception of the OP, as most people voted they don't want any compensation.

Plus as said many times before maintenance sucks and it conveniences someone - there is no perfect time to do maintenance.

    Very sorry to see this,

People who answered "Not - I'm fine without any compensations" are I don't know how to say it and don't offend all of the 43% of them.

Imagine that someone posts here: Would you want to get an extra ESO+ day? Instead focusing on the answer and benefits from it, you focused on story behind the question, which is imao kinda stupid.

and you say NO? to that LOL so explaining yourself in logical way is impossible.

    • Give us free stuff because downtime.
    • Why is downtime always in peak EU time? (when happening at 10am)
    • Why ESO needs an auction house.
    • I'm rage quitting (but not really) the game because of a balance change. - Although to be fair "can I have your stuff?" doesn't take long to retype each time.
    • Will ZOS ever fix lag?
    • This crown items is a rip-off.
    • ZOS never listens.

Firstly well done on taking a generic point in a list of common threads and making it about yourself.
Generally speaking those threads are funny because it's the British or UTC+1 people complaining not the Russians.

As for yourself it depends what are of Russia you're in, yes the offset can be up to UTC+12 but if you're living in that timezone it's something you would have already been aware of and accepted.

AUS players get shafted more than anyone else in this community in regards to maintenance times, and for the most part they take it well. They're clearly not ecstatic about it but they've come to accept it and just weather it.

We all have days when our favourite MMO is down and we can't play, but FML at this point people should be able to take some time off and relax, I mean are we really so bad in gaming communities now that a downtime crashes our entire lives and nothing else is possible.

For me - I hope you can read and learned math yet - it has started at 13:00
And, as usual "very needed" 4 hours - would ends in 13+4 = 17:00
    5pm
    Still not a peak time.

Why not keeping EU server down all the time and put it on only in 20:00-23:00 UTC+1 period? :D
Everything else is not a peak time and such long maintenance would provide a wonderful service :D

Since ESO is a regular single person RPG where you happen to see other players running around, most of the time ruining the questing and RP experience, I propose to let it be single player, without internet connection playable also.

This way you can do your everlasting maintenances and in the mean time we can play.

Who wants the silly pvp or group dungeon farming should still use an internet connection. The offline part should be only quest and resource gathering related. The game is already activated on my PC, so there will be little to none piracy of their title, since you still need an account to play and to initially connect to the game.

Yes, I'm an ESO+ too, but I paid it mostly (always 6 months in advance) just to support the company, so they could add more content to this beautiful game.

Have you tried to send one of those kinda email/poll to your Electric Company for refund for power failure, or did you charge Toyota for you annual maintenance, nah, worste, THEY charge you, your house A/C needs maintenance, do they give you refund for the time it's not working? nah, THEY charge you, the list can be long... it's maintenance, fixing stuff, part of the MMO deal or any video game having constant content evolution, as i always say, you don't want maintenance, play games that aren't play on live servers or deosn't have updates more than 1 per 3 years, if you'Re impatient with maintenance, MMOS and those kind of game ain't for you to be honest, but damn i love reading those cryings about it and post in them as i find the refund thing totaly stupid and how much people depends on the game. Do Microsoft refund me for the few times back then my computer booted up for updates as i didn't have the time to save because it decided to reboot and not even giving me time to save the work? Nah they didn't, to they refund me or any people being infected with viruses getting through because of a few of their weaknesses and their businesses being out for a day or so, do we get MS refund, nah. Just thank them instead, that when they do maintenance, they are giving you back your real life for a short time. :)

Almost every online game does weekly maintenance, and it often takes a few hours.

They don't all, far more popular games like BF series etc have downtime that lasts no more than 1hr (they actually give an ETA on this)

99% of games now have an online element to them and none of them are down are much as this.

OT lol at wanting compo, if they didn't do it the game would go to ***, it is a necessary evil to take it offline, just the time frames are shockingly long.

I want the maintenances to happen on US prime time, not during EU prime time.

This isn't EU prime time. It's 12:00 on a Tuesday (scheduled maintenance happens at 10:00). 90% of people are at work or school during this time.

Given this game in EU has very little players under 16 and most exams are finished now for University students, It is a mute point. Cyro has a pretty big following during the day as it's zergling free and progress is best made in the campains during this time.

Please also stop assuming everyone works 9-5, Mon - fri, 52 weeks a year. Most of us get 4-5 weeks paid leave also.

I'm not certain but there probably something somewhere that is a disclaim to maintenance time and unexpected server issues to cover stuff like this....

So like it or not but you already agreed that its cool for them to run server maintenance whenever and you get nothing back for it. If they want to be nice they could do something for us. But its doubtful given how hateful some members of the community can be towards ZoS.
