Why can't we get a public auction house?

    Auction Houses

All the people making money in the current system be like, no.

All the people that can't get into the market be like, yes.

All the people that hunt through elebenty Traders to find one item be like, I just want a global search feature.

SWG eventually did this. You could go to any Bazaar and search for an item, then it tells you the waypoints and planet of the said vendor that has the item. Was really a good idea that didn't hurt the over all economy.

The "elites" can manipulate a central auction house much easier than the guild trader system.

Not true. There are many MMOS with one AH and alls fine.
And to answer OP question : ZoS dont want one AH because curent sistem gives them the perfect gold sink...
I hope you know what i mean.
Yes ZoS care about every small detail when they need :)

So glad we do not have an AH. Worst trading system I have seen in an MMO.

Some people are convinced it's better despite the fact that guild sales are stagnating (console), prices are dropping through the floor and guids have recently started charging 10K+ membership fees just to stay afloat--and they're still missing bids on their desired spots, even after paying millions/ week. All this discussion about "out-of-the-way" deals done by dedicated market-tycoons and bargaineers is distracting from the reality that people pretty much use the Wayrest, Mourhold and Elden Root's merchants for 99% of all transactions. You can literally see the swarms at these kiosks that don't appear anywhere else. Yes, you can trade through a smaller, remote trader, but you're cutting off your potential profits at the knees. Of course, the big guilds will never admit to having such a stranglehold over the market, lest that advantage be addressed. I say this while being a member in two of the PS4's largest trade guilds--because I have to be a member to sell my stuff.

This type of economy was never sustainable, and won't be in the long term.

Perhaps a side-bar "black market" or something could be implimented to run alongside the guild traders. People keep comparing ESO's system to 'real economies', too, but real economies have entire networks of data and collusion that they use to regulate and compete. ESO has none of that except for an addon (PC) which measures the historical price of an item. Virtual economies need to be inclusive, easy and competitive to have any real use.

At least give the guild store panels a built in (not addon) text search for Chrissake's. I mean, c'mon.
"Auction House. There's been some questions about whether that's something we're ever going to consider. It's not something that we plan on considering. While global auction houses would be convenient, they are not ideal for the economy of the game, so it's not something that we're planning to do."

I'm certain the dev team has "revisited" (aka backtracked) on any number of things they've said--that's the nature of ongoing, online game development. I don't know why posting quotes from almost two years ago should be taken as scripture.

Edit: Yes, a global search feature would be awesome: some shady khajit that has all the 'gossip' on which vendor has what could even fit really well within the context of the game.

Because that is the way the ZOS works. They make a statement, and that statement is scripture, until such time as the statement changes. We are expected to remember the scripture, as revealed by the Holy ZOS Priestesses, so they don't have to repeat it over and over.

Yes, they can backtrack and change their minds, but when that happens, they let us know. There are signs. Data mining. Changes in how the forum topics are handled. Statements and vague references, or changes in wording, on ESO Live, etc. Sometimes, when they are in a rare mood, they skip the signs and portents and just tell us.

After sacrificing the virgin skeever, and examining the entrails, there are no signs that they are interested in changing this.

Looks like lordrichter has this one handled so no need for me to jump into yet another debate war here.

He even beat me to answering the question about where Jason went.

/me sulks off to other threads to try and feel useful.

I used to complain about this too

But I got used to it and now I truely appreciate the system. Once I started to learn more about it
And I heard there are spying and corruption behide some of the big guild store , which just adds another element to the game community and I freaking love it!!!

Only problem I have is the guild store UI does need fixing lol but the system itself is great

@runkorkoeb17_ESO I don't know where your getting that info from but it's not correct. There isn't a single AH in ESO. Not a one. Fortunately.

Since ZOS is saying "no" to Global Action Houses it is only a matter of time for them to make one... Be patient people, I think it’s the only issue that they didn't change direction since the game became online... It’s clear by now that they have a “plan” and they stick to it as any company that knows what they are doing…

PS: Please ZOS add a mechanic that makes our character sleep for 4-5 hours per day (while online ofc) for all those people that want immersion
