Enemy NPC Summoner Changes

Going through quests since Homestead , has anyone else noticed that almost every enemy NPC summoner now summons a BEAR to fight with them?? It used to be wolves, suddenly it's almost always bears. To me, this really cheapens the whole Warden class and the uniqueness of summoning a bear, now, if not almost every Warden player is going to be running around with bears, now we have NPCs doing it too. Over-saturate much ZOS?!?

I did in fact notice bear summons while questing on an alt earlier. They have NPCs for every class, so it makes sense that they would try to integrate wardens as well.

Except for the fact that Warden has not been released yet, and I didn't notice any difference other than them summoning bears instead of wolves. Further, I don't recall a playable class that can summon wolves, however.

Very true, but they are more than likely building up to a full-on Warden NPC type. Just a guess.

It just seems to me they took something that could add uniqueness for players and are now turning around and making it more common than even a wolf summoner. I just think it's pretty bad form on ZOS' part, but perhaps they are trying to condition players to seeing bears everywhere so they don't complain when Warden drops.

    And they WILL complain.

Well, if they can give NPCs the player warden class, maybe they can give players the NPC necromancer class

Some NPC's also spam Trap Beast since Homestead. Most notably all through Blessed Crucible, it's super annoying.

Ah, but did you notice that now if you kill the summoner, the summons also vanishes? Used to be that way only with necromancers and spider daedra, now its also that way with rangers and other summoners... so who cares what the hunters summon, as long as it goes poof when you do them in nowadays? ;)

I did notice this, which is nice, they're behaving exactly like a necromancer now. However, I still feel that the overuse of summoned bears isn't right. They could have kept them summoning wolves, just because Wardens are getting a bear, doesn't mean every summoner across Tamriel would be summoning bears too. Sadly, I just hope the Warden's summoned bear doesn't die as easily as the NPC's ones do.

It was a bit funny though, doing the Thizzrinni Arena quest last night in Reaper's March, and prior to the final battle where the champion makes you go down to steal skooma for her, you encounter three bandits sent to kill you. One of them summoned a bear in that small space, just seemed pretty silly to summon such a large creature in a fairly confined space.

I don't think ZOS understands that if something is too common it loses its allure.

Kind of follows the concept that if everyone is special then no one is.

While I noticed the summoned animals are different, I have come across a lot of different ones altogether. Sometimes a Lion is summoned or even a Direwolf. So all in all I really welcome this change.

But what would the forums be without the usual complaining, right :*

Are you talking since Homestead or since you started playing the game? Because I have done these quests numerous times, and have never seen so many summoned bears as I have since Homestead... not saying I seen any prior to Homestead, just saying since Homestead there are NPC summoned bears galore.

I daresay it's something accidentally done at a higher level where "stuff that gets summoned" accidentally got linked to "bears" and the person who did it did it unintentionally, and never noticed.

Maybe they just hate Stephen Colbert?

It would be nice if this were the case, that they were 'trying' it on the server and "oops" they forgot to change it back and it went Live.
