Even PvE is so laggy in ESO

I really dont understand how is possible to be so laggy in the arena where I am alone. My average ping is 170, it is almost the same as in TF. I am pure PvP player and I decided to give a try to the arena and man, there is a big problem in the coding part in this game. I can bet that there are tons of unoptimized calculations running on the server. Without fixing that piece of *** in your code you will never solve the performance issues.

A whole 170? You are truly worse off than most.

I thought ~200 was pretty normal. I rarely dip below 100. Don't really experience any gameplay issues between 200-300.

Are you actually having problems OP, or are you just griping about the number?

Hm... While this game does have its performance-oriented issues regularly, I do notice that things are considerably worse on weekends. Perhaps it is because of the increased volume of players which causes an increased strain on the servers. Thus increasing lag and overall stability issues. Outside of that, the only thing that comes to mind is: Outdated hardware, a slow internet connection/unstable internet connection, and other things non-application/client related.

The problems that I have are with the ground AoEs, i am out of the circles and i still get the damage. In Azura I have 100 ping average in PvP and in the weekends it is 150. I didnt know that PvEers are used to play with such crappy latency. Usually my ping is 60 and this is normal.

I thought about that, but a single instanced arena should be isolated somehow. And this where the core problems come for the game. I understand when Cyrodiil lags because i know the architecture and tons of players cast skills which have to be calculated and accessible for everyone.

Ping in ESO is garbage compared to a more modern game like Overwatch, no doubt about it. I get between 50 and 90 at my main UK home (business SLA fibre). Thing is the game is just slothlike even then, it very rarely feels responsive, I can have 144FPS but the game will feel lethargic in terms of combat response and, compared to say FF14, ESO is an old dinosaur in performance terms. It got a whole lot worse around the release of 1T IME.

Nothing up with your rig, easily enough to run a simplistic 4 year old game like ESO, would have been state of the art when the game was released. This game is unfortunately just a bit on the el cheapo side, no matter how much I do like it as a game I have to admit that technically it's a senile and terminally sick old dog and should probably be put out of its misery!

WRT to the AoE boxes, this has always been an issue, you can roll out of them for a good second, but you'll often still get the damage. I am not so sure that's a latency matter as just general crap ZOS coding.

I am usually around 100ms latency. It varies down into the low 90's or upper 80's, and up into the 110's and 120's. This is generally all over, including places like Belkarth and Rawl'kha. More than half of that is the internet.

not sure what your problem is really... your rig is ok i suppose.... outdated though.

i pve, fps around 100 most of the time - ping 50 to 110 depending on area.

    maybe your isp?

Agreed. I think it's ridiculous that there can be so much lag in a solo instance such as Maelstrom Arena. Or perhaps a 4-man instance, or 12-man instance. The only thing we can do is hope ZOS stays on top of their servers hardware-wise, and do maintenance(s) on a regular basis.

    It is not only you.
Maelstrom Arena is very laggy, 200-400ms.
The latency is getting worse when there are multiple enemies in the larger fights.

It is getting worse on weekends.
My internet connection and my computer are fine.

The problem is in the Instance. If I go in a zone I have 60 ping but in the arena it sucks.

Wow. You normally get 60ms in PvE and 100ms in PvP? Must be nice getting those speeds. Shut up. I'm constantly around the 250-300 mark regardless of content. You have no right to complain

400ping. Can only do vMA on a tank build. Can basically only gank in PvP cause playing reactively is impossible.

Last boss vmsa stg4 (at least its easy)
Lasr boss vmsa stg9 (&#!@ing bullcrap dude)
Last boss wtg (plz dont happen when lightning thingd are on the ground)
MoL add pull with 2 giant cats (yay 2fps)
MoL last boss (Oops, disconnected again)

Anyone else eat fat lag in those particular places?

As I said I do not PvE a lot except when I need to level or farm gear, so I cannot give my opinion for all the instances that you listed. I do now vMA and stage 9 is really laggy. ZoS know that they have issues with the calculations for small period of time and that is why they changed how some skills tick, not every half second but they moved some of them to even 2 seconds. Now you take damage every 0.2 seconds in stage 9, i guess a lot of calculations happen there. And this is the core of the game, if they dont fix it they cannot improve anything, it doenst matter how much content they create (which looks very beautiful and it is well designed)
