ESO, on zone chats, at times, seems to be an opposing views episode on CNN, versus being a video game where you come to escape those crap news of everyday turmoil. Yes, you can turn off zone chat (I do and often times change locale) and can even use profanity filter, but, that is not the point. It is the principles.
God forbid people discuss non-game related things where such an act is 100% allowed.
Are you one of those safe-space people?
Sorry but I don't come to the game to listen to pre-pubescent kids trying to act like they are some tough guy. I don't get offended by any of it, on the contrary I actually enjoy making them look silly. There is a place for political discussion, eso isn't it. The only reason for it is the attention. Adults, or so called adults, should have the common sense to know the difference between friendly banter and being flat out insulting. Racial slurs and the other nonsense that gets town into zone chat is unacceptable, and if you don't know the difference, well sorry cant help you.
I still believe that those same people who like to pull those stunts would not have the courage to do so in someone's presence. It's a lot different when you can hide and make comments with fear of reprocussions.
There is a CoC which prohibits that kind of speech though, because ZOS (and most MMO companies) do want to create a safe environment for people.daydreamer01 wrote: »Don't make things worse by trying to be political correct on the internet, so some ppl are insensitive , big deal, if you don't like certain kind of players then don't interact with them , more often than not those who make "bad" comments are just normal dudes venting and should not be taken seriously , point is , you can't hope to change how ppl think ,and by limiting their freedom of speech in a game you won't make things better because it will just encourage the marginalized individuals to bind together and eventually do more damage , like ---- voting for donald trump.

What you're saying is somebody should be censored for speech you don't agree with? Would it be OK to arrest a person that says something offensive?
Okay that make me smile. I wish I had a LOL button for you, guess it's just an awesome though.andreasranasen wrote: »What we do need is NA to be split into two servers. Midwest and the south get their own servers. East coast and West coast get their own. It would be great
Greetings,
We have removed and edited some comments for baiting and being disruptive. Please remember to be civil with one another and constructive in your responses.

Yes, I do know that, and I think it's absolutely ridiculous.

Could always come to the UK

Fact is its a weak minded individual that doesn't have the enough self control to not make comments. Then we have the trolls that just love to start an argument because they can hide behind a screen without fear of reprisal. Funny thing is every little jab in your above post, weak minded, coddled, infantile are perfect to describe your behavior in the posts you have here.
To the rest of the posters:
This is what a troll looks like in their natural environment. Remeber please don't feed the trolls.
It's unfortunate, the first part of your post started off well and I'd concluded that I'd probably have a reasonable discussion with you...and then I got to the rest of it where you labeled somebody you disagree with as a troll. Sad that your reasoning abilities end at emotion instead of logic. Maybe you'll grow out of it. Also, it is a childish way to live your life to expect that everybody will tailor their speech to accommodate your sensibilities. That's how life works, and it's unfortunate you seemingly can't deal with it.

I am not sure the UK is any less strict on hate laws, in fact haven't we been getting stricter since radicalisation and the rise of groups like Britain First?
Again I think it depends what's being said. If you're using four letter cuss words sure enough then people need a thicker skin, if you're using hate speech or bragging about sexual assault then you sure as hell need to slapped.
I mean to use my case from earlier as well. What do you think will happen in the real world if someone walked down the street yelling about how they sexually assaulted someone? You're going to have the police there.
Online however people don't have to worry about that (unless ZOS contact interpol with the logs) so they think this is funny, they know it's wrong but they're not scared of any consequence.
In EVE Online now you can actually get a ban for using a common slur for a homosexual man, CCP outright do not allow that stuff and even if it's just some meaningless smack talk you're risking your account.

The world and its people cannot be sanitized, and it is not Game developers responsibility to try. Report behavior that violates the terms of service, and ignore others that you find bothersome. If you're not able to do that, online MMOs may not be a good place for you. "Safe" places, and even games, are being created all over the Internet. Perhaps you would be more comfortable seeking out those.

Either it's all OK or none of it's OK. Welcome to life, you must be new here. Is it unpleasant to deal with jerks? Yes. Should you be allowed to censor them? No. The reason we got to where we are today is that entire generations of people have now been raised to expect that they'll be coddled for their entire lives to the point where people whining have now outnumbered the number of offensive people. That's how we got here.
