Beware, something unfair happened to me: a saved Maelstrom game is no more, it could happen to you!

Hello,

On 02-09-2017, after many hours I completed the first stage of Veteran Maelstrom. Since then I have been changing

gears and trying different strategies to clear stage two. Today, when I tried to go back to that stage the saved game was not

there any longer?. Why it has disappeared? I have a screen of the day that I finally finished stage one if you need proof.

This whole things is extremely frustrating and unfair 'cause due to an accident I'm missing half a finger on my left hand and I

have a broken finger on my right hand that does not work very well, which make my game much more difficult than most. I need

your help and understanding to fix this issue as soon as possible.

Sincerely,

Atherol

Sadly, there are no 'saved games.' vMA resets if you don't return within an allotted time. Pretty sure it's 24 hours.

Best advice, level more, study more, watch BiS youtube strategies for your class. vMA is very punishing below 400CP.

It's not 24 hours. Did you enter stage two after beating stage 1? Not only that did you make sure to start stage 2 and die once there before exiting?

    Hi,

Zaruz, I believe you are wrong. Progress will be saved and you can comeback another day. But, you can't get on leaderboards if you don't do it all in one sitting, which in my case II may never get there!

DigitalShibby, Yes, I did enter the second stage a few times and got killed by the last three centurion a few times.

    Thank you for your reply,

@Atherol any chance that under group you had changed it from vet to normal before going back? You wouldn't have had to specifically change that trial, just having normal selected in the group tab for the difficulty and heading back to MA would put you at stage 1.

vMA progress is saved by the quest.

If you did not pick up the quest in the lobby, progress is not saved.

If you abandoned the quest, saved progress is lost.

There are two separate quests, one for nMA and one for vMA.

Progress can be saved indefinitely, as long as you do not abandon the quest. You can resume progress months later.
    1. Make sure you have the vMA quest (not the nMA quest) in your quest log. If it's not there, there is no saved progress.
    2. When you return to Maelstrom, make sure you are returning to vMA, not to nMA. I.e., make sure your mode is set correctly.

@DigitalShibby, Nope, I just checked it again to make sure and I'm on veteran. Only thing I have noticed is that my ESO has been crashing quite a bit lately after the last updates. Also, after the last update at first I couldn't even play the game 'till I found a work around that I posted here for everyone to look at:

Haven't read the whole thread to see of this has been suggested already, but OP did you switch dungeon modes by accident? The game only saves your progress for the dungeon difficulty you started it on. So if you did a few stages on vet mode, went away to do other stuff and then came back on normal dungeon mode the game will put you at the start of the arena again. You shoukd be able to fix this by going back in to the arena on the dungeon difficulty you started it on, assuming this is the issue.

Edit: apologies, it was already suggested.

Code has it spot on. You need to have taken the quest at the start to save your progress.

When you run in, it takes a second for the quest to appear. I missed it on my second attempt. You have to wait for a little animation.then the blue quest marker appears

Did you, 100%, speak to Fruit & Nut lady and take the quest?

Stick with it though, try again (getting the quest) first pass is always hardest mate, Rd 1 won't be so bad 2nd attempt

Not to be rude OP, but vMA stage 1-4 are pretty easy so if you struggled with stage 1 and lost the "motivation" to attempt stage 2 right afterwards, there isn't really progress to be lost because you probably wouldn't have finished anyway.

HOWEVER look at it this way, Now you know the mechanics, you can go back into stage one and perform even better

I know it sucks mate... BUT always look on the bright side. You gained valuable experience.

I mean there are 9 stages so trust me you will want to practice.

    Hello,

Please, at least read the original post before posting!

I did not abandon the quest and it was saved. I'm worried that at after trying a few times with the second
stage the save suddenly was not there any longer. It it is more difficult for me and a struggle 'cause of
a handicap that most do not have. It is really not fun that the saved game was not there any longer.

7 days? I had the quest for the 9th stage in my journal for 6+ months straight before abandoning it out of frustration. There is zero time obligation to complete the arena.

OP, did you happen to visit Eastmarch when leaving the arena? If you went in there while a bunch of rollbacks/crashes were happening it's possible that your completion of that arena stage got affected.
