I just wanna watch the halftime show because Lady Gaga
WHAT?!!! The superbowl advert isn't about attracting new players, it is about the prestige of having a superbowl advert. It is a different kind of advertising, putting an advert out during the superbowl is a way if saying "we are a big deal". Sometimes that can attract new customers, but I can't imagine many sports fans will make a mental note about this game. I maybe wrong, but I think a child could have come up with a better advertising strategy than this vanity project.
I really want this game to succeed, but once again I worry the money I spent supporting the development of this game has gone on a "million reasons to play" or a holiday competition or some other lottery/ tax write off that only appeals to idiots and is only accessible to a few countries.

No pretty sure this was done because of really good revenue flow and the metrics/belief that they haven't hit their earnings potential yet.

Hi. My name is The Rock. And I am a Warden!
Wtf is up with the sports bashing. Some guy even said it was a like getting payed to play a children's game. Seriously, a children's game? Have you seen esports? The amount of irony is too damn high! If alot of people watch a certain sport/videogame/etc. It's gonna bring in money and the participators get alot of dough (in relation to the amount of people watching). Didn't somebody just win a CS:GO tournament where the prize pool was around 1 million dollars? Hypocracy all around.
Also, I played Football (the American kind) for 8 years and am a huge nerd when it comes to video- and boardgames. Alot of my teammates was aswell.
Good on Zenimax for getting air time during thè most watched sports event in the world. Almost certain to get alot of new players into the game.
Yes, think that's true, the medium is the message the same way an aircraft carrier isanitajoneb17_ESO wrote: »kyle.wilson wrote: »Thealteregoroman wrote: »Hopefully its not live action...........
Yall watching the superbowl to see the commercial?
Might bring in some NEWBIES lol.
This clarifies what I thought; Zos has no idea who plays mmos. The massive amount of money spent on a superbowl ad, could've bought them a lot of ads on a channel more likely to be watched by a gamer. 5.5mil for a 30sec slot.
Maybe the 5 mil could've bought them a better server that doesn't lag out constantly.
Except a spot at the SuperBowl isn't "advertising" anymore. It's corporate communication at this stage. The message isn't "buy this product", it's "we're a big, powerful, healthy, rich, profitable, long-lasting, solid and reliable company". Whether it's true or not is a different story, but that's the message, directed not only at customers or potential customers, but also at investors and competitors.Just curious (not American) but is there a large cross over between those who would watch the Superbowl and those who would play MMOs? From the Guilds I am in on the NA server, there isn't ever much talk about football, so I was under the impression there wasn't.
I'm not american either but I think that the "event" is not the football game anymore, the half-time show IS the event. Many people will switch on TV just for the show. It's pop culture more than sport culture, and gaming is part of pop culture.
